Manufactured in 2004, 5 band EQ, tube overdrive / preamp. Built in compressor/limiter. see other reviews.. they have covered it well. This puppy will do it all WITH THE RIGHT BASS.

Astheticly, It's kind of an ugly duckling. Too much crome for my taste, but that being said alot of the chrom is a METAL grill protecting two great eminence 10" speakers & tweater. Better protection than a cloth grill anyday.

Very HEAVY amp... could use casters on it. Feels like real wood (as I'm sure it is)

Sound Quality : 10
Using Tobias classic with aguilar onboard preamp ... active bartolini's through rack: furman - BBE sonic maximizer, Behringer UltraQ, Behringer Tube Compressor, Behringer V-Amp pro (for effects, NO AMP SIM NEEDED). VERY QUIET for a bass amp with a tube gain stage.

I completely Disagree with other reviews on dialing in tones like SWR, EDEN, BASSMAN... ETC. This bad-boy has a very unique tone. Closest thing I can compare it to would be an Ampeg SVT set to "stun" with a heaftier low end while staying crisp in the mids. I play in two bands, one Nu-Metal, and one funk/pop, and this amp covers both without problems. litteraly, "set it and forget it" A few quick changes on your bass' active EQ and you can get anything from smooth blues to "TOOL" literaly on the fly. My VERY expensive ashdown rig now sits gathering dust for this beast.

Have had every bass player in the tri-state drooling over my tone for months. It's crystal clear, almost sounds like an upright (bowed) bass with the right attack applied. All the subtilties are brought out in startling definition.

Volume is the only drawback. Not saying it cant keep up with two marshall stacks on 11.. it can easily.. It's almost too loud. Hard to describe.... the botom end is just so viscious it's hard to control at times. Definately suggest running either a rack EQ, Feedback destroyer, or have a Very quick soundman on hand to reign in the low end.. It will eat up a kick drum faster and you can think. Takes some getting used to on stage. After playing with lesser amp's a guy wants to dial in his "defaults" on the onboard EQ and let it fly.. cant do it with this beast.. needs fine tuning in pratcice for several sessions before you can realy appreciate it's projection power.

Best way to state this I guess.. my wanna be george lynch lead player keeps complaining I'm vibrating his pedalboard out from under his feet.

In short. Lemmy needs this amp. In fact.. I think this must have been what spinal tap meant by going to 11

Only poor part of the circutry I can find is the Compressor / Limiter. Pretty mutch useless. Very poor compression ratio even at high volume.. feels like it never realy kicks in. Yeah it works.. but if you are looking for real compression, go with an offboard for the extra oomph. This being said.. GREAT effects loop. very quiet, no extreme coloration like the Gallien Kruger stuff.

In short... consistantly sounds like it's trying to kick Entwhistle's bollocks even at low volume. Great tone all of it's own. definately a must have piece of gear.

Reliability : 10
Best warenty in the buisness. It's built like a tank. Would however cary extra tubes in your road kit.. after all... tubes are tubes. Nice knurles chrome knobs take a licin' and keep on tickin'... handles are recessed and easy for load in / out. good heat sink on the back. nice placement of the patch panel on the rear of the amp to keep from burning up cables.

have had it pushing a 7 + on the master and 10 on the preamp for several hours without so mutch as a single fault in tone.. no hum from bad ground loops, no pops from poor point - to - point wiring. I always cary a V-Amp or POD for a quick backup (backup is backup) but never expect to use them.

Very HEAVY amp... could use casters on it. Feels like real wood (as I'm sure it is)

Have emailed traynor with questions several times.. they mail back instantly. no worries about them being there if I needed them.. however, think It would take a direct hit from a bomb to hurt the thing

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for 20 years or so. Familiar with SWR, own an Ashdown ABM & a GK, have blown up two Ampeg SVT's. So will do a bottom line here...

If you want to sound "...just like "Insert name here" this is prob. not your amp. If you do want somthing to bring out YOUR true tone and style, be able to overpower everything else on the stage when needed, and you have ACTIVE pickups so you can tweak on the fly this is the best damn amp ever made.

Auditioned several combos before the Yorkville.. including a SWR Redhead & a couple of Eden. Hands down.. this is the best of the bunch. Worth 3 times what I spent on it.

Look for these things to make serious buzz as soon as some big name starts pplaying them. It may not be the best thing since sliced bread, but It comes a close second

Made in 2004. Has a very good range of tones,it can rumble, pop and snap to suit any style. Be nice if it had tuner and headphone jack built in. I would also be VERY pleased if it had casters for rolling this little tank around and covers to protect its finish.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Fender Geddy Lee, Fender precision lyte, Warwick corvette proline and occasionally an H1B Hagstrom. I play mostly classic rock, blues and top forty.

Reliability : 8
This is my second XS400T. The first one I had crapped out on me the first day I used it. The speakers had a buzz in them, the control knobs were scratchy as hell and the carrying handles were upside down. Even with these problems I still rate the amp very high because the replacement amp that Long and McQuade LTD. in Oshawa gave me(without any hassle at all, in fact it was there suggestion) is in my opinion flawless. As a matter of fact I just bought the XC115 extension cabinet for it. I still own my Traynor amp that I bouught around 1973, hopefully this will be just as dependable.

Customer Support : 10
As stated above the service I received through L&M was top notch. My hat goes off to Phil DeSousa and the rest of the staff in Oshawa. How can you go wrong with the 2/10 year warranty. This amp is built to last!

Overall Rating : 10
I tried several major manufactures including Fender, Peavey, Roland, Randell Ampeg etc. After careful consideration I believe that I got the most value for my money by purhasing the Yorkville Sound. As stated before, this amp should have an earphone jack, built in tuner and protective waterproof covers.

Features have been listed out already I don't need to go into it all again. Mine is a 2004 model, but I think they all might be so far.

Sound Quality : 10
I play primarily rock/punk/alternative/metal, with finger and pick styles. My main gear is a MIM Fender 5 tuned with a high C and a Ibanez Ergodyne tuned with a low B. Both are Bartolini loaded for pickups.

This amp has tone for days, I can dial in just about any tone ever needed, SVT, Bassman, SWR, Eden, you name it, but make no mistake, it has a tone all it's own too. It has great tone control from the 5 band EQ, but I found little need to adjust any of them past 12 oclock. It was already plenty huge. I especially love the disortion channel, can get some great gritty tones from it. Not quite the warm tube overdrive I would have expected, but a sound all its own. The Wet/Dry feature is great, can dial in just a little or a lot. I especially like the ability to crank the overdrive gain level, but then bury it so far in the Blend that it comes out as this buzzy undertone, it's like nothing I have ever heard. Like the amp is on the verge of exploding I am driving it so hard, but it's all well under control and safe. Has the sound of a speaker being driven beyond it's limit, but it can do it comfortably all night long. I love it. I am tempted to add an extension 15" cabinet below it. It has so much bottom end it doesn't really need it, but it would bring the 2x10's up a little closer to ear level, so I wouldn't have to tilt it back, something for the future.

Reliability : 10
I am the amp killer! I have blown up more amps than most people I know have owned. Something about my aggressive attack. On stage I once cut both the low B and E strings in half with my pick in a single strum, I play HARD!! I have watched 2 SWR go up in a ball of flames, one tried to take me with it by electrocuting me at it's moment of death. I killed an Ampeg SVT-CL and a Trace Elliot head in the same recording session. I reduced a Fender Bassman to a pile of slag parts. Peavey? fugettaboutit! I have 3 dead Peaveys buried in my backyard.

These suckers are like cockroaches, you can't kill them. I have never been able to kill a Yorkville yet. Even if I did they have the best warranty I have ever heard of. "Unconditional Even If You Break It" ?? I'm sold, that's reason enough for me.

Customer Support : 10
The friendliest staff I have ever encountered. Some companies don't return phone calls, (GK) others seem reluctant to service their products (Eden) others just refuse outright, viewing their goods as disposable if broken (Behringer). Yorkville is the bar that others aspire too, and it's a pretty high standard. If they don't respond within a few hours most times, they are overly apologetic for the delay, how impressive is that for such a large company?

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing professionally for 10 years and playing for 5 more on top of that. This amp rocks, it looks killer on stage too. I've seen pictures of myself on stage and I swear I look that much cooler standing in front of such a badass looking amp. It's like a classic car, all chromed out! Rumbles like a Harley Davidson too.

I'd hunt down and kill the MoFo who ever separated me from this amp, to hell with replacing it, I'd just murder the thief. But if I couldn't find him, I'd replace it in a heartbeat. I'm one step closer to achieving the perfect rig with this amp.

Yorkville designed this amp in 2003 and the 2x10 combo was released early in 2004. Features include:

-Inputs for both passive and active basses
-Tube powered input and overdrive (12AX7A preamp tube)
-Footswitchable Tube Overdrive and Effects Loop
-Innovative Wet/Dry blend on Tube Overdrive
-Wet/Dry blend on the effects loop return
-Five band EQ featuring a semi-parametric sweepable mid
-Unique 'Variable Contour' scoop function
-Pre/Post EQ selectable XLR balanced Tube DI output
-Speakon? and 1/4" extension cabinet outputs
-Front panel mute switch for silent tuning with 1/4" tuner out jack
-Switchable Limiter at the output stage
-Proprietary 'Tweeter Auto Mute' function and bypass switch
-2x10" 150 watt Eminence bass drivers and 70 watt tweeter.

This amp is pretty powerful. I did a medium sized OUTDOOR show with NO P.A. and everyone could hear me very well and commented on how good it sounded. (i used the 15 inch extension cabinet however)

Sound Quality : 9
I use a 4-string Modulus Flea Bass and G&L L-2500 5-string. I have the 15 inch extension cabinet and in combination with the 2x10 the 5 string sounds very nice. However it sounds a little weak with just the 2x10 configuration. I find this amp to be versitile enough to get quite a wide spectrum of tones out of it. It sounds nice in pretty much any situation. I cranked it up to 8 and a bit for the outdoor show i mentioned above, and it held together with absolutely NO distortion. Infact it actually sounded more punchy and better over all. The amp has extraordinarily high headroom (725 watts of burst power - 2-cycle) basically that means it will hold it together without breaking into distortion even at full volume. This amp is extraordiarily quiet, and produces very little hiss. I've gone from dub bass to VERY growly mid-range to zingy high end very easily with this amp. It may not sound as nice as an eden or gallien krueger - but i have gotten pretty close. The tube D.I sounds very nice though.

Reliability : 10
I use this amp all the time without backup. This is my third yorkville amp and none of them have ever broken down on me (even when i've pushed them to the edge.) If you take good care of it, it will last a long time. very reliable products. This amp specifically i have not had for a long time (2 months) but it have already pushed it to the max and it held together beautifully.

Customer Support : 9
Yorkville also backs their stuff up with a two year warranty on it even if YOU break it. There is a ten year warranty on the cabinet itself. I have never had to deal with them because nothing of theirs has ever broken down. You really can't go wrong with the warranty.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for 5 years and have gone through 2 other yorkville products (i got rid of the others as i've needed to upgrade output power). If this amp was lost or stolen i would cry and then realize i didn't spend a fortune on it and go get another. I have not found another amp this reliable, versatile and have this many features for a grand. I compared it to edens and gallien-kruegers. They sounded nicer but were out of my range in price as i am a student. This amp sounds very nice though and has all the necessities needed to play decent sized live shows and to record. It may not be the most refined amp out there but it is good enough for any semi-pro to lean on. Especially given the price. I would recommend this product if you need power, versatility, decent tone, and have little money. this amp has actually surprised me in how good it is.

Tube preamp makes this amp sound great. The scoop control also works well to get a real low mudy bass sound for playing dub type riffs. havnt played much with the effects loop. the TUBEdrive sounds pretty cool!! I find the EQ works well and I dont think any more bands would be needed. The DI works well selectable between direct from bass or after the tube preamp so sounds good if recording direct. A Rack mount slot would have been a good feature but nobodys perfect. It is also pretty heavy 90 lbs then another 50 for the extension cab. The handles seem very sturdy and positioned right!!!!

Sound Quality : 10
I use this amp with a fender mexican jazz bass, yamaha rbx 200, and a 5 string michael kelly acoustic bass. I play just about everything and so far I havnt played anything that sounded shity through this amp.

Reliability : No Opinion
I just got it so I dont know how reliable its gonna be. I have heard great things about the yorkville line of bass amps.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Havnt had any problems yet but there website looks promising for help.

Overall Rating : 10
I think this amp rocks for many different applications. I was going to get a new pro fender 400 combo, but i was told just to try out the yorkville and in my opinion this amp is much nicer sounding then the fender bass amp. I was also trying out the swr workingmans 400 head and 4X10 cab and this amp sucked.

So far Im really happy with this amp. I ordered the 15" extension cab for it as well and the whole thing is stil much cheaper then the swr and fender and sounds much better.

This amp was designed in 2003, the 2x10 combo was launched in early 2004. I play CCM, Funk, Hip Hop, R&B, Rock...all kinds of styles, and this amp rocks them all! There's an effects loop, but no headphone jack, which my wife would like me to use when I'm practicing at home!

Features include-
-Passive and active inputs
-tube preamp, with parallel tube adjustable overdrive circuit
-adjustable compressor
-5 band eq with parametric mid
-adjustable effect loop (jacks on rear panel)
-adjustable scoop function that scoops out the mids while boosting lows and highs
-limiter (on/off)
-balanced output (tube DI/Line)
-quarter inch and Speakon Output jacks (rear panel)

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using this amp with 2 Spector Professional Series 5 string basses, one of which is in the process of turning fretless. Both have soapbar humbucking pickups (fretless-passive EMG-HZs; fretted-active EMG DCs)This amp is not noisey at all, and can handle a variety of styles. I also use a Boss V-Wah inline and a dbx 120A Subharmonic Synthesizer in the effects loop.

Reliability : 10
The amp is new, so I can't really say, but I do know that Yorkville has a reputation and heritage of building reliable, standup products. I don't feel the need to have a backup rig on gigs while using this amp. None of the BassMaster equipment I've used in the past has crapped out on me, and I don't expect that to change.

Customer Support : 10
Yorkville Sound Customer service is second to none. The warranty is 2 years on the electronics, and 10 years on the cabinet...and that's even if the customer damages it! Unbeatable warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for almost 20 years. I've owned the BM400 combo, as well as the SWR WM 4004 head and WM series cabinets. The only thing I wish were different was that there was a headphone jack and that the compressor was more adjustable, but those are minor issues in the face of how awesome this amp is!
