This is my main pedal and I wouldn't mind gigging with this pedal. Is holds up well to the basic everyday use and can take some licks. Also has a nice solid underplate that supports the pedal nicely.
I'm not really a heavy pedal player so I'm not sure about heavy use. THe chain drive and pedal board is kinda thin so it may not be for the big heavy hitters who play heavier than normal. But is an all around smooth, easy to play pedal

No Opinion
I have had the pedal for about two years now and haven't had any problems. I think the warranty was a year. Since I've never had any problems, I've nevered contacted anyone with the DW company

I have been playing drums for about 25 years and got my first set about 23 years ago. I have 7 piece Yamaha Stage Custom set with a Yamaha Steel snare as well as a 70s/80's Ludwing Acrolite. I play a mix of Zildjian/Sabian cymbals. I also have the stock Yamaha pedal that came with the set as well as the pedal that came with my very first set. I also used to have a Ludwig Rocker chain pedal and an older Tama direct drive pedal.
I wish I would have asked what the difference between this one and the 5000 model.
If I were to loose this pedal, I would like to find another like this one, I might also check out the 5000 series or a middle Pearl chain drive that I looked at ten years ago.
What I love about the pedal is that it is so smooth and quiet and is a very strudy and reliable simple single pedal. The only thing I might hate is that you can't adjust the angle of the beater shaft. My favorite feature is that it is great for my lazy man's heel toe technic. I slide my foot down the pedal a little to where the "ball" (thick under part of front foot before the toes start) more mid pedal and just press my toes down to strike the beater.
I didn't really "compare" this pedal to others before I got it. I mostly got this pedal becaue it was a nice smooth pedal that felt so good in the store and it was on sale in Orlando at I think George's Music. I remember in the 80's when DW was THE thing in drum pedals! I test drove a few and remember them being so high and thinking I would never afford one (I think those were the 5000's though) So when I found a nice smooth DW pedal on sale and in my price range, I wanted it.
I only wish it had a beater angle adjustment as well as a beater height adjustment.
I just want to add that pedal has been problem free and is a smooth, strudy workhorse of a pedal that gets the job done...
