This is a direct (solid link) drive double pedal. It's default cam is an accelerator type arrangement. This means it's non-linear and accelerates during the last part of it's travel to the batter head. The footplate is very thick and strong, likely the strongest design in the industry. The pedal has a variety of adjustments, and beater memory locks that won't slip. The included beaters are double side, plastic and felt.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This pedal looks and feels like a tank! It's heavily built and extremely strong. It will likley handle a lot of road punishment. All the parts seem to be case-harded/die cast. These are the most underrated pedals on the market-period. Older/other gibraltar pedals were not this well built. These have curved footboard, and are ready to rock...HARD!

Customer Support : 10
There is a 1-year warrenty included. So far Gibraltar seems very approachable and helpful with customer service issue. They also have just about everything in stock, distributed by Kamen.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I have owned/played Tama iron cobras, Axis x, dw9002, 5000, Ludwig speed king and others. These pedals are equally rugged as tama, but thanks to the direct drive, they responsd eqully, instantly and with extreme power with the slightest input. the action is *very* balanced between left and right.

Downsides? These are not as buttery smooth as DW or AXIS, but they have clean action and you don't miss the smoothness. The footboard is not recommended for someone that plays without shoes. This might not be a jazzers favorite pedal, but it has a "precise" and rock solid feel for any genre. These pedals don't have the limitless tweaks of the Pearl eliminator, but give nothing up where performance is concerned.

These are 100% as capable as the similar Yamaha Flying dragon, except as a bonus: they are over $100 LESS than Tama, Pearl, or Yamaha!
