Double pedal, dual-chain driven, "power glide" cam (slight offset) with independently adjustable beaters. The beaters are slightly bigger than normal and round in shape (they make more contact with the skin, resulting in a bigger punch). Spring tension adjust ability is good. The beaters can be moved on the horizontal axis, to be placed in the centre of the bass. The hoop clamp is adjustable and easy to reach.

Well, here the positivity stops. I literally destroyed the bearings in the right foot board within 3 years. Further the axle, linking both pedals, has a lot of play. If the left pedal is pushed, the first 5 centimetres (two inches) of the stroke is to compensate the play in the knee joints of the axis. I am a heavy drummer, but it should hold up for more then three years.

Warranty is standard one year on all parts but the bearings and the axle or camshaft between the master and the slave unit. Replacing the bearings is a tedious job and I wouldn't recommend it if you're not handy or impatient. The camshaft is expensive to replace (??? 125 around $ 150). For that amount of money you have slightly less than half of the money needed to buy a new one.

Tama Iron Cobra, feels good, plays good, brakes down way to soon. I am very disappointed in the quality of the Iron Cobra I have.

this dbl pedal features a double-chained offset cam which increases power and speed as the beater reaches the end of stroke. Also, TAMA eliminated another source of friction by replacing the traditional nylon rocker cam with the Speedo-Ring, a rocker cam with a high quality built-in ball bearing rocker.

Other innovative and far superior features include the Tight Lock which makes sure the beater shaft stays put by fixing and locking the square head bolt which fixes the beater shaft. Also the footboard has three pillars underneath for superior strength that blows any DW5000 away. That's my own personal opinion as I purchased a brand new DW 5000 dbl pedal and right out of the box there was a bad misalignment on the slave pedal and only by researching various forums (mainly Pearl's forum...big ups to yall!!) was I able to somewhat correct the problem but also I learned as saw actual DW5000 footboards broken in two and decided to take the DW back to Guitar Center and request that I be allowed to swap it for the TAMA Iron CObra.

The choice was a no-brainer. They make it in a lefty, the foot plate is very solid and tough as nails, the case is very easy to place the two pedals and linkage into unlike the DW5000 which was very difficult and frustrating.

Spring tension adjustment is very easy to operate and the hoop clamp has a dual tensioning feature which I like cuz it's a "set it and forget" kind of mechanism. The slave pedal has THE BEST anchor cuz in order to keep the slave pedal from walking, a special stabilizer is mounted to the outside frame. This augments the stability of the floor anchor bolts.

I would absolutely take this pedal to every gig I played and probably wouldn't have to worry about it holding up to my my style of playing which is heavy rock and metal.

After reading the horror stories about the DW5000 dbl pedal and seeing pics of those foot boards broken in half, I had a bad case of buyer's remorse. Fortunately, thanks to Tama, I now have what I need to make the ears bleed

Customer Support : No Opinion
No need to seek warranty support. The standard warranty is one (1) year from date of purchase and yo can register on Tama's website once you've made the right decision.

My drumming experience started when I was 13yrs old and for the last 23 yrs, I've been an intermediate level player as I also play guitar and bass. I remember my first kit was a Tama Imperialstar that was the same kind as Stewart Copeland's at the time. My Dad and I spent a summer building my own drum riser together in preparation for my first band going out on tour regionally when we were only 16 & 17 yrs of age!

No regrets buying this pedal and yes, I'd buy another to replace it if it was lost or stolen. I love everything about it cuz it's a set it and forget it type of component so very crucial to my happiness. I only wish it has a tri-tonal beater head cuz I sometimes slow it down and kick it with my neighbor's country band.
