In summary, the DFP9000 is not as adjustable as many direct-drive pedals on the market. It does exploit Yamaha's classic heavy feel, and is extremely powerful, in contrast.
Additionally, it is markedly less expensive (retails @ $840) and very well built for the features it does offer.
Asthetically, it's bare brushed chrome footplate stands out from the norm, and is a great conversation piece as it's not immeadiately recognizable.
Yamaha has been in the direct-drive pedal business for years, and is a very viable option for those who play heel-down. It is worth pursuing as a power pedal for those who prefer a wide range of dynamic control over blistering speed.
It was a dice-roll for me when I bought it, but I'm very pleased with my decision.
