there are two FireWire ports provided. you could connect another fireWire device to it. all great. 300 MB per second data transfer. couldn't ask for more.

doesn't work really well with my behringer Dynamic microphone. I can't get decent gain.
I'm not sure. I should try it with a condensor mic.
I've connected my electric Guitar to it, and WOW! clean, clean sound. perfect! but you have to make sure you use good cables and connectors. I've been using Neutrik connectors.
regarding connectivity, this device provides anything I wished.
S/PDIF io, Midi io, ADAT etc.
Power

both Bus-powered and AC-powered possible.
the great thing about this gear is that you could use it without a computer as a 4 channel mixer! something I never expected!

This is a really good alesis recording interface, it is small so you can carry it easy wherever you're going, this is a recording interface though, its not a mixer, kinda looks like a mixer but it doesn't have any faders, the channel volumes and panning are controlled by the software, everything else is right there physical. Its got LED's to monitor the input signal and also to see at what quality you are recording, very nice metal casing, so it can take a couple of hits if you're traveling a lot and everything.

Firewire/IEEE-1394 and its got another firewire input

Outside the box it says high definition mic preamps and they really are, they are VERY NICE and clean!, you don't have to turn them all the way up to get a nice balanced signal, i had an m-audio firewire solo and the pres were not as good as these ones, has 2 instrument inputs, 4 analog inputs and you can hook it up to a ADAT device to get another 4 inputs, S/PDIF I/O, 1 MIDI I/O, 4 inserts to put effects on individual channels, a mix blend knob to mix the interface signal with the computer signal, 2 headphone outs with independent volume control and phantom power switch in pairs 1-2 & 3-4
Power

Firewire bus powered or AC adapter, 2 phantom power switches, not sure if they are true +48v but i guess they are.

So far so good, i recorded some drums today for about 3 hours using 2 condenser mics, a sm57 for the snare and a beta shure kick drum mic and fuck! sounds amazing. This little interface is really nice, even if it cost me 300 i would buy it, its a good-quality-very portable-low costing-device so if you have 150 bucks go get one on ebay. Yes i would buy it again if it were stolen but i hope that doesn't happen, i wish it had 2 more headphone outs.
