General : 2
8 channel Mixer with USB2.0 audio interface with built in effects. Each input channel plus the main stereo mix can be recorded separately to the computer. One stereo mix can be returned from the computer.

In general the standard features you expect from a small mixer, including peak indicator (for the mic channels), 3-band EQ (all channels), pre and post FX send (post is also used for built in effects). No insert jacks.

This mixer/audio interface has one MAJOR design flaw. The signals to the computer recording are taken out post-fader. I.e the fader level you set on the mixer will affect the recording level in the computer. You can't record a channel without having to listen to it in the main mix. This makes the MultiMix completely unusable for instance as an all-in-one mixer/recorder for the rehershal room.

Now, you could use the post-fader AUX bus for the monitor mix, but then of course you won't get the built-in effects.

Connectivity : 10
USB 2.0

I/O : No Opinion
Did not put this to enough tests to say anything about the sound quality.

Power : No Opinion
AC adaptor included.

Technical specs : 8
Up to 24 bit/96KHz

Other : 6
Bundled with Cubase LE4

Overall : 2
I expected to use the MultiMix to record sessions with my jazz band, having the MultiMix work as both main mixer and recording interface. However, that is not really possible.

You can use it as a mixer OR an audio interface, but unfortunately because of the post-fader computer recording, you can't use it as both.

I'm returning it to the store and getting a better audio interface instead; keeping my old conventional mixer.
