This is strictly an interface; no controls except headphone volume. I use it in conjunction with a Behringer 1202FX mixer. It is in a small metal enclosure, totally portable. Mine sits permanently on a shelf by the desktop.

FireWire connection. FireWire cable is provided. That's good. They are expensive to buy. I wish the cable was a foot or two longer.

I think that it is supposed to have the capability of being bus powered, but it never worked for me. There is also a power supply provided.

I bought this because the XP desktop I dedicated to music and recording did not have a good sound card. I use this with the mixer to interface analog voice, instruments and recorded music into the computer (into Audacity or MS Plus! Analog Converter) and audio out into monitors. It works great! Imperceptable latency when multitracking. Never any problems except very occasionally on start-up, the computer will select the integral sound card instead of the FCA202 as the active sound card. I have to reboot, and then it will be correct.

The actual stand alone device is cool, solid, metal casing and looks rough n ready for action. I have grave concerns about the software drivers this thing comes with. I'm on windows and it's nothing but trouble, been looking on trouble shooting sites and everyone has the same problems, windows won't recognise the software, code 10 errors, drops in and out, stops for no reason, etc. Extremely frustrating!! Zero help from Behringer...who are these people that design and build this stuff that doesn't work!?! Can't speak for Mac's, though now I'm thinking this is what Behringer designed it for...

Nothing but pain and suffering for me, no support, the device is currently a paper weight on my table. If I could find the guy that built this thing I would throw it at his head.
Seems to me behringer built this thing for Mac users and they're just taking Windows for suckers.
Behringer you suck!!
