THis is a digital console equipped with Gates, Limitors, compressors, eq, and 90 or so effects (verbs,delays). It has extremely good Digital converters for recording while being used as a live sound board.

FireWire. The cool thing with this board is with one firewire cable you can send 16 channels of audio to your computer OR by pressing one button you can send up to 16 channels from your computer back through the board! Very cool if you want to practice and then playback the practice to adjust eq's and stuff! Love that.

Great preamps- I've always been a fan of Presonus' class A preamp's. I prefer them over any Allen Heath or Mackie board for sure. This board does alot of stuff- but I do wish it had an ADAT in/out so I could add more channels to the board via lightpipe.

Comes with this very simple yet effective recording software called Capture. I haven't had any gliches with it yet. SO, so far it's been great. I am anxiously waiting for Presonus to send out the beta version software to link multiple boards together. That will be GREAT

Overall this product is so versitle. Our band saves all our in-ear settings for each gig so we don't have to keep redoing that. We record every show simultaneous to live mixing! With the fat channel we can put eq and compression/limitors on EVERYTHING- including the aux's and master channel. I would totally recommend you selling off all your outboard gear and analog console for a one in all box that really can hang with the big boys! AND this board cost less than most analog consoles (I really couldn't believe the price).
