Type and Construcion :
14" heavy hihats. B20 bronze alloy with brillian finish and "waved" edges. Hand-hammerd.

Sound Quality : 9
Cutting chick, sharp attack, long sustain/decay. Pretty bright sounding but yet a little dark. I'm really bad at describing these things... There's soundclips on their website, but they do very little justice.
Do something yourself for a while and find out.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I don't hit, I beat. I've used these mostly with 5B sticks and no sign of damage or wear on the hihats. Other that some fingerprints, the finish is like new and there aren't even visible stickmarks. These are heavy and can take a pounding. I have to admit that they aren't even six months old yet, but I think they'll last a loooong time. If they don't, I'll tell you.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have no idea how long is the warranty from where I bought them, but some stores on the net give you 3 years. Haven't have to deal with any warranty issues with any of my Meinl products.

Overall Rating : 10
Well, I play guitar, but I've been "forced" to play the drums for a couple of years now. (We lost our drummer and someone had to keep up a beat during rehearsals, so I became that special someone. "Only temporary" I keep telling myself). So yeah, what comes to actual drumming and techniques, rudimets, all that, I'm an amateur. But equipment I know pretty well. We/I now use Pearl drums and Yamaha hardware (8xx and 9xx series stands, DFP9315 double-pedal 1100 hihat stand). Since there are a couple of bands that share our practise space, I've been lucky to have had some "actual drummers" share their gear with us, so we've been able to try out a bunch of different cymbals. Paiste, Stagg and Sabian mostly, and not that budged stuff either. But the Meinl symbals have met our needs the best.

If something happend to these, back to the store and out with a same pair I'd go.

Like I said, these hihats meet our needs the best: they cut trough a wall of guitars crystal clear, thay are loud and thay can take a beating and give some back. But I bet are a buch of drummers who wouldn't like these hihats for those same reasosns. ****** I might call them, but hey, to each his/hers own.

So for disco freaks, jazz cats, funk-a-philes and bluesbrakers these aren't the safest bet, but if you're one of them, you know that allready. But if you hit hard, rock hard and fu...dementally love hard, try these out. Or not.
