These Hi-hats are the 13" k/z series that started being sold I believe in the early 90's. The top 'K' hat is a lathed product, while the bottom 'Z' as a very heavy cast.
Sound Quality

These hats have a very loud chick, have very little little flex/give when struck, and overall are one of the best hi-hats I have ever heard. They also have a 14" version that are also rumored to be excellent. These sound great from Jazz to Fusion to Rock.
Reliability/Durability

These are extremely rugged and durable hi-hats. I have never heard of a set cracking. It's lack of flex and its small size would seem to prevent cracking.

Been playing almost 20 Years, This is my second set of 13" k/z hi hats. The first ones sounded so great, I went out 10 years later and bought another set (I originally sold the first set with my old drumset.) This is the first High end cymbal piece that I bought for my drumset. This piece is a must for drummers who love loud hihats!
