I bought the red/black set used from a friend, it had only been played a few times and they moved on so i got a great deal on these. I LOVE this set. I have Remo Pinstripes on these drums and they sound great.

Sound Quality : 10
I play drums in a metal/hardcore rock band and these drums work great. They're plenty loud enough and have lots of attack. They're also very warm, these drums have a great variety of sound. No matter what you're looking to play these drums should work.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have used these drums for plenty of shows and they've worked great. Only playing small venues i've never mic'd them but they work fantastic. I rarely have to tune them and I've never had to tune them mid-performance.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I've been playing drums for about six years and these are one of the best sets I've owned. Although I've never played many expensive sets these have done so well for me. I am forever a Gretsch fan and will always use their products.

Gretsch Catalina Club Mod (Tribal Tatoo)
1up, 1down 4pc. shell only pack

Sound Quality : 6
The sound of these drums is pretty decent once tune properly. The coated G1 heads offer plenty of attack and resonance. Durability could be a factor if you are a heavy hitter. The stock resonant heads on the toms and snare leave alot to be desired and if you are seriously using this kit need to be chucked!
The tuning range of the 2 toms is decent. The snare drum, as far as I can tell, favors a lower head tensioning (the weakest link)
Kick drum is huge with it's 20" depth and sounds best with a head swap from the Asian Remo knockoff to either an Emad 1 or SK1 and tuned in the medium tension range. (batter and resonant)
*verdict is still out in this category.
**5 lug 12" tom is a bit tougher to tune than a standard 6 lugger.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I got this kit because I wanted a gig ready kit with a durable wrapped finish and I love Gretsch drums.

The wrap finish is pretty cool looking and seems pretty tough.
I wanted the black with silver sparkle stripe, but couldn't find it for the price I paid for this kit.
All in all it looks very clean with the matching black powdercoat HW.
One drawback is the flimsier 1.6mm tri flange hoops on the toms and snare. It would have been nice to see 2.5s, but for what I paid for this kit, I won't complain.
I haven't had enough throne time behind this kit to comment on the durability of the finish on the shell or shell HW.
A couple small upgrades and this kit will be ready for gigs.

No issues yet.

Overall, I am satisfied with this shell pack for what I paid.
Would I have bought it if it were not on sale?? Knowing what I know now., I would have to say I'm not sure.

If you are looking for a quality built shell kit on a budget, entry or semi pro, with a few small upgrades and some time spent dialing in the tuning, the Club mod has the potential to be a great working drummers kit or a kit that a beginner/intermediate level player can grow with and keep.

20 x 22 Bass Drum;

Evans G1 batter heads.

Sound Quality : 10
These drums have a classic woody, barky tone. Since they have no internal muffler, they are quite resonant, and need some taming. The bass drum has a very deep smooth sound, and is still quite punchy across the room. The snare tuned up nicely to a full, fat crack, with plenty of cut.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The workmanship and finish is flawless and bearing edges were nice and clean. The lugs and rods all fit smoothly, and I used a little machine oil in them on assembly. SO far, in a week, they have held tune well, and nothing's slipping. Memory locks and stand hardware all holding steady. I play a few hours a day, over three or four sessions. I wouldn't be afraid to gig with these, but this is my studio kit. I've seen much, much worse stuff showing up at gigs over the years! If taken care of, and properly maintained, this kit will last forever, just like the originals.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've had no problems, don't foresee any, and I think they have a year warranty. Sigler seems very helpful if needed.

Overall Rating : 10
Well, I haven't recorded it yet, but if I can capture the sound it will be fine. I love the drums! Putting them together went smoothly, but I've been doing that since elementary school (30 years ago), so it better be easy by now. I have all kinds of guitars, and instruments, recording stuff, PA, etc...and use most of it constantly for gigging and recording demos. If something happens to this kit I'll be very angry and find another one. I almost went with the jazz version, because it would take a little less space, and sounds very good also. I wouldn't mind having both!
