I purchased the shell kit only, in Champagne Sparkle. Technically it's not the Fab Four since it's not Oyster, but otherwise identical (13" ride tom, 16" floor tom, 22" BD). The ride tom is shell mount with memory lock. It's 9 ply maple. Comes with Ludwig Weathermaster heads, white/coated. This kit was available in many different colors. It's American made. It has the mini lugs and a beefy curved spur system (best I've had on a Ludwig kit).

The drums have a warm maple sound, with lots of attack. They tune low (they are large shells) and plain out whipped on the Yamaha kit they replaced for sound quality. They are much warmer than the two Vistalite kits I had, and very comparable with my first kit, which was a 70's maple kit. What really sold me on this kit was the 6 1/2" snare. It is crisp, and has a beautiful cross stick sound, and slams the rim shot sound. I loved my Supraphonic, but this is all that snare was, but in a different flavor.

I love gigging with these drums. The Champagne sparkle shines under lights and responds to all different colors. The wrap is clean. They hold tune fairly well. One down side: the front BD hoop is slightly oversized, and will shift with my low tuning, but works just fine.

I was tickled pink to find an affordable American made maple kit by my manufacturer of choice. This is my fifth kit (three Ludwigs, 1 Maple, 2 Vistalites; one Stage Custom Advantage Nouveau). I've been playing 36 years. I would love to replace it with the same kit, or the new Legacy Classic (which is twice the cost, however).
