The drums have great attack. The drums tuned up quickly right out of the box. The stock drum heads were surprisingly good sounding. The drums can be tuned to a wide variety of styles.

I would feel comfortable gigging with the kit. It was purchased as a studio kit. The wrap is clean. They don't seem to need tuning often. I rarely see my drummer pick up the tuning key and do anything to the tuning of the kit. This kit maintains a consistent tone. The hardware performs quite well. I'm using this kit with a Pearl rack.

The manufacturer not only dealt with my problems but picked up the phone every time I called. I needed some odds and ends (kick drum hoop protectors) and they sent them to me without questions. I'm surprised how excellent the customer service is. They talked with me extensively when I was researching which kit to buy and I discussed with them other manufacturers.

This kit is performing exceptionally well in the real world. I've been playing most of my life. If it were lost or stolen I would buy it again because it was a fantastic value for the price. I wish Mapex made timbales and percussion. I would add it to the kit in a heartbeat.
