50 very accurate pre-tuned sets. Set-up: adjust heads by hand tension then turn drum key two full circles for action. Does not effect tuning/only feel. Unusually real response. Mesh pads allow natural bounce/rebound/attack feel. Range from very soft to thunderous. Even feel throughout entire range. Reverb/distortion/tuning/boominess problems of acoustic sets eliminated. Overtones have musical qualities.
I connected two Mackie 824 studio monitors as my front L/R, and used the digital out through a reciever to tap into the 2.1 stereo mode with subwoofer. Sounds fabulous. Headphone sounds are equally perfectly mixed to my ears.
Extremely well balanced and musical. Clean. Very responsive. That musically matched tuning of all the entire sets are very nice. Begs to be played more. Accurate. All descriptions include mesh heads and cymbals. Bounce and responsiveness/feel is better than any acoustic set or electronic sets that I tried. Far better than my Tama set.
I'm impressed that this level of sound and feel is available in a digital set. Having 50 preset drum sets instantly at the turn of a dial, with the natural feel of the heads and high end sound quality put this set out front of all others. For me, it was THE one to go for and bring home.
Absolutely silent and non-distorted, perfectly balanced sound when using only headphones: Audio Technica ATH-M40's.
The attack feel and sound are very well matched. Can be tuned differently inside the sound module brain.

Built for gigging, clean appearance, tuning only for feel - has held very well for approximately 12 hours of playing (takes 5 minutes to adjust all hex nuts), perfect consistant tone. The hardware to me is very well made. All fittings need to be adjusted and tightened properly as one unit. Otherwise, missed fasteners can cause added strain on the others. Take time to torque them all properly as one group.
The sound module, frame, drums, heads, cymbals, cords, etc. are very well designed and built. It's a very capable stand alone unit for moderate practice and seriously hard improv jamming.

Very good. I called and told them I was looking at a used set. They answered questions and gave me advice on doing a pre-buyers inspection. Service is not a problem. They can do it at the factory, or, many Roland keyboard service sites now work on the drums if needed. For example, the display on mine takes about 10 minutes to fully illuminate. The new display runs 150 with one hour at 80 to install it. They recommended to simply use mine until seeing it clearly was a issue. Problems with this set that I've picked up off forums are quite rare.

Expected performance was much better than I had hoped for - and I had very high hopes after demoing a TD-12 set. I've played about one year. This is my only set. I also play and currently own a piano, guitars (LP, strat, Larivee dread cutaway w/Fishman,Ovation nylon deep bowel cutaway w/electronics, Variax 700), bass and sing a bit.
I'd find another if it were damaged, etc. It's that good.othing else would really be on my list. The factory TD-20 set is well known by professionals and holds it's value. Currently, they sell around 5900. RMC has the best deals at 4800 with free shipping. For a casual drummer setting up some retirement activities, this would be a bit pricey, but in terms of value for the money, a great set. EBAY has them going for around 3500 plus. CraigsList always a possiblility. Watch for scammers. It has four additional sensor inputs prewired through the rack to the brain. I may add a couple smaller toms and cymbals for added instant variety.
Again, I found this at a church in Central florida for 3100 with the accessories off CraigsList. Also came with a large, hard case. Highly recommended. Great build quality, sound, variety, feel, and service from my experience. If you haven't played a TD12 or TD20, do yourself a big favor.
