setting up the all new stage custom birch model, 5 pc standard set
was no different than any other yamaha set. once tuned with stock heads, the sound acually was identical as the old model.. owning a
2005 stage custom standard I noticed no difference, the tonal quality was almost the same. the slight ring in the toms was
noticable as in the older model.The kick drum was always punchy
not any diffenent.. the quality of yamaha is always there, but no home run here.

no differnet than previous models, the birch made no difference at all.. at this level 7 and 6 ply is not going to change much of anything,,, tonal quality as in all yamaha drums above average.

all Yamaha drums are quality drums no matter which set you purchase.

For the dollar still the best buy in drum sets. the value in harware and performance makes yamaha the drum kit to beat every time.
