This is a five piece drum kit covered in OD camouflage canvas. It features a 20x22 bass drum, 16x14 & 15x14 floor toms, 12x8 rack tom, 14x7 snare, 2 cymbal stands, hi-hat stand, snare stand, and bass drum pedal.
The shells for the toms are 9 ply basswood and the snare is 15 ply. The factory supplied heads are regular clear with a thin mute ring on the underside.
What sells this kit is the camo covering. It has custom looks for production price.
Kids and young upstart drummers will go crazy for the look of this kit, which is why I purchased it for my 12 year old daughter.

First I'll address the snare.
The snare is really warm and dull as it came from the store. I added alot (!) more tension to sharpen the attack of the snare with some success. Here's where it all goes wrong. With the heads tight enough to get the snare to sound decent, the lugs will shatter after playing! Now, I've been around drums for some time, and with modern music snares are using more and more tension on the top head. I can't see how DDrum would not have realized this and put a better quality lug on the drum. These lugs are very soft, very cheap metal. The snare actually sounds great....until the lugs start breaking.
The toms sound great. The basswood shells and odd choice by DDrum to wrap the shells in canvas give the kit a warm sound that does not ring or overly resonate when tuned properly, yet the tone is still "alive" and not dead sounding. No problems with the lugs on the toms since they will never see the abuse a snare would.
The bass drum is the centerpiece of the kit in every way. With it's bazooka-like proportions it performs just as my bazooka analogy would imply. Simply the best sounding kick drum I've ever heard. Once again the basswood shells and canvas wrap do some kind of magic on the tone that I would not have expected. I really thought the canvas wrap would destroy any tone and make the drums sound "dead". This is a BOOMING kit. Pretty good sounding for what I would have thought as a beginners kit.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The snare lugs really kill this category. Just ridiculous that a modern drum company wouldn't realize that the snare head is going to be cranked down as tight as a drummer can get it and use quality metal for the snare lugs or use a different lug design.
The rest of the hardware is superb for the price and can be compared to mid-level DW hardware. Good stuff, but not great. The bass pedal is a bit better quality than expected also, though the mallet is a bit heavy for a young drummer.

I emailed DDrum about the lugs and they didn't hesitate to send out a complete set of hardware for the snare. The only problem was.....it was the same as the hardware we were having trouble breaking. So we replaced the broken lugs and tuned the snare a bit more "open" than we would have. Now the snare sounds horrible. Really flat and dull. I was going to replace it with a different brand of snare since all DDrum snares seem to use this type of lug, but my daughter is dead-set on her camo covered snare. So off to the drum shop it goes to get customized with better lugs, a kevlar head, new chains, and a thorough tweaking.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall this kit is a superb value for $599. Any beginner or low-level pro would love to have this kick drum. The toms and hardware aren't too shabby either. The weak point is the snare.
With different snare, a DW5000 hi-hat stand, DW7000 double pedals, and a nice cymbal pack, you have a really nice drum kit with a unique camo finish. Tell your bandmates to turn up, or this kick drum will drown them out!
