Turn the knobs, silly buns. The manual doen't really say anything you can't figure out. It's as easy as it gets

Sound Quality : 8
Okay, delay is great. It sounds much better than the echo on my jam man and much better than my Boss SE-50. Interestingly enough, the delay sounds much better than the ADA D-640 sitting right next to it.

The chorus is meh. Not as good as the chorus on my JC120H. Not bad though.

The doubler is okay for rockabilly, but still not as good as a spring reverb or a tape echo.

I don't really have a use for the flange, but it sounds pretty good

The Flanger is meh.

The delay is where this unit shines. I wish it were stereo though

Reliability : 4
It seems to have a mind of its own, HAHA. SOmetimes it will erupt into garbled, bizarre delays hat make no sense. The ins and outs don't really seem very solid. The knobs also tend to fall apart. The unit is mostly built wel though

Customer Support : No Opinion
none, ADA is gone.

Overall Rating : 7
The blend control is WAY too touchy. Move it a millimeter and the delay goes away, move it back, and the delay is louder than the dry signal.

USE THIS IN PARALLEL.

Without a manual, anyone who knows how a digital delay works shouldn't have trouble. Very easy to get complex and interesting textures. however, the effect volume can not be bypassed with the footswitch, and many settings boost the volume quite a bit. i have no use for the "delay repeat" function, so i suggest buying/making a true bypass box to take it out of the signal completely.

Sound Quality : 9
fender with humbuckers, solid state combo amp. there is very little noise. there are very few combinations that sound "run of the mill" or cheesy. i hate flangers, and most choruses, because a lot of them are so over the top. you can get subtle effects that are still distinct. the phase switch and wet/dry mix are big plusses for me. the echo isn't what i bought it for, but is way cooler than i expected, because you can use the depth control to get a thick vibrato on the repeats. 1sec of delay is more than id ever use, and i think paying extra for 16 or 23 seconds of delay is like buying a car that can go 120 mph in reverse. its cool, but when is it usable?

all in all, great delay, best flanging/chorus effects ive heard, everything sounds wonderful, but the volume level is annoying.

Reliability : 8
had it for about a month with no problems, and its pretty old.

ada is toast.

Style of music: radiohead/tool/soundgarden/rhcp. heavy, artistic, layered rock, with slight tinges of jazz, funk, and metal. playing for 4? years.

unit surpasses my boss ce-3, bf-2, and dd-3 at their respective duties. however, it can still successfully be used in conjunction with all of them.

i would buy a second if stolen. i might anyways if a cheaper one comes around.

i wish the effect volume would not affect the bypass volume.

i would not buy this unit looking for the usual "airplane" flange, or boss-style chorus, or dd-6 delay. this unit gets the best sounding flange/chorus effects ive ever heard, and part of that is because they arent easily identifiable as flange/chorus effects. can be used in subtlety or excess. allows for great texturing and interesting phase-switched "small" sounds. on ebay from 30-100 dollars. well worth it. id like another solely for the echo function.

No need for a manual, just tweak the knobs and get some real cool sounds out of it! You can generate delays with a flangy edge, flangers, choruses and doublers in a few seconds.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this one in the studio as a "quick tweak / quick play" effects unit for my guitars and other stuff. The return signal comes in a strip on the mixing desk to tweak with the EQ if needed, the S1000 is mono by the way.... . When I recorded the dry tracks, the Cubase SX delays sometimes cannot come close to the sound of the S1000 for some reason. So, actually this unit is good for quick things, but also for recording when you keep an ear on the hiss..

Reliability : 10
Build like a tank, simple design and nothing much that can get broken easy.

Ah well, ADA is gone.....too bad in a certain way, but good in the way that I had the chance to make adadepot.com as the biggest ADA resource on the web!

Overall Rating : 8
I use it mainly in the studio for guitars and vocals. I use it together with the Cubase SX plugins and some digital outboard effects and I must say that the "tweakability" is soooo easy and simple, that I use this unit most of the time. I play for about 16 years now and I must say: tweaking knobs rules! For the money you can still get these units pretty easy, so if you run accross one, just buy it to give it a try!
