Ease of Use : 8
These are headphones, with very high impedance 600 ohms and they are hard to drive. Semi-open design, so you hear what's going on around you. Circum-aural design, so you don't have pressure on your ears.
Auto adjust band head, very comfy.
3 mtrs one-sided cable, solid and without sonic interferences (looks like it should be but many phones, even pricey sennheisers, have noisy cables...).
Stay away from the provided 3,5 to 6,3 adaptor, mine drove me crazy 'til I found out it was defective.
8 for the hi impedance

Sound Quality : 10
Very fine cans for checking out what mistakes you make! "DF" means anechoic so you have a very accurate picture, and I couldn't believe my ears with guitars recorded previously using Sennheisers 540 reference for monitoring: way to midrangy! That's because senns are hifi phones, and using them to check your recordings makes you make big mistakes. Therefore the Akg's...
The 240df are precise, sound especially good in the mid-himid-range while being wonderfully fresh with the highs. Lows are a bit under-rated so be careful not to push the bass when you record with them.
They are perfect to record guitars, and to check vocals(being semi-open you cannot record vocals with:you then hear them through your mic...).
I think I've done the best choice for this application.

Reliability : 8
It is very solidly built, and I mean it. Plus you can have spare parts without problems. You couldn't drive them out of use because of their high impedance I think.
BUT, take note AKG! : The adaptor it comes with is pure ****, even if it screws on the jack. Mine had short cutoffs,so my sound was distorted with bass signals, but only one side. I thought it was the phone itself, but it did not do that all the time. I finally checked without adaptor and my sound was back. I played with the adaptor in my hands and it tore apart softly...
I mean for the price asked they should include a 100%safe-adaptor.
10for the phones, 0 for the adaptor...

Very good phones for guitar and vocal recordings, along with final mixdown. It shows very well what's wrong!
IMO the best value-for-money on the market. Saves you lot of time in the end, aand helps to achieve clean, balanced recordings.
You may need a separate phone amp to drive them, depending on your stuff, but it is worth the trouble.
You cannot be wrong with this headphone, hats off AKG!
