getting a great sounds out of this thing is easy. theres nothing to it, you set it up, following the directions, at about 15 feet away from ur amp and settup and its work with out fail.its exactly the same sound as a chord. there are no knobs except for a volume control which i set on 10 and leave it, so i guess if u fooled with that u mite be able to get a diff sound but im not sure.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
im using this with a fender deville 4-10, a hamer solidbody, and a monster pedal board. its never any noisier than a high quality cable. its basically tonally identical to a cable. ive never gotten a bad sound out of it that was the akg's fault.

Reliability : 7
i always keep chords on hand because im retarded and broke it twice, but it was my fault. i was doing the thrown the guitar over ur sholder thing and have it spin back around while u play. like cc deville, and guy from the starting line, and cone from sum41 do, and i was doing it during a gig. well i did it twice, and it worked fine. then the third time, the strap lock broke off and the guitar hit the ground right where the input is, breaking the akg reciever into about 7 pices. but luckily i baught it from guitar center, and i baught the 2 year warranty which replaces it even if its my fault which is great because i can walk in there and say " look ill be honest, i hit it with a meat hammer and then ran it over with a tractor" and they'll say " ok heres a new $300 system, enjoy". I dont see any problems in the future with it breaking, although it doesnt seem to durable becasue its plastic. if you drop it to hard it could break.

Customer Support : No Opinion
ive enver deal with Akg only guitar center where i baught it.

Overall Rating : 9
i play classic rock to blues to new metal. i write my own music in a band as well as covers. this thing is great and compared to other whrieless systems it cheap, and the quality of sound cant be beat. durbaility could be an issue but it mite not be. i already had the option of buying a new one becasue guitar center offered me a shure sistem when i returned this one when i broke it, and i chose the same one. and if it were stolen i would whip the robber in the nut sack with a car antenna. then i would make hime where a jump suite made of steak and lock him in a room with my dog. i like the high quality sound and the fact taht it doesnt clip to your strap just right in the input hole. i dont like the flimsyness and how it moves around if you move alot when you play such as jumping and spinning. i didnt compare it with other products but the dude at guitar center did, and he was comparing it to products in the same price range, so he wasntjust trying to sell me the most expensive one. it never feeds back or hisses. i even use it for recording, its a great tool and allows you to move around on stage and keep things free and a great crowd pleaser too, with crowds who r used to seeing 5 guys standing still playing a song in a bowling allie with no feeling.

I just plugged it in and it worked. I eventually adjusted the gain on the receiver after I read the manually a few days later.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound quality of this unit is great. I had a Shure system that I loved, but I thought I would give the AKG a try. The Shure didn't pass thru nearly as much high end as the AKG. The AKG is clean and quiet.

Reliability : 8
The plastic case seems a little cheap, but if you don't drop it, it should last a long time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had to deal with AKG customer support. I've had AKG mics for a long time, so I guess this is a good thing.

Overall Rating : 10
I think I would buy it again, if I could find another one at the same price.

Simple to setup, simple to use.

A little bit of hiss, but not too bad to control.

ABsolutely not! I told the salesperson at Guitar Center to give me "the best wirless you have." He pointed to the $400 AKG and I said ok. To sum up a long story the thing was crap. It's made from very cheap and flimsy plastic. The antenna broke on the second day of our tour (only it's 6th use) and I had to send it back when we returned. After getting the new one it still failed about 50% of the time, with failures and cut-outs in front of about a dozen crowds, one of which was around 250 people. Sometimes it would stop working during sound check, sometimes mid-set, once even in the last song. Ughh. I must have spent $20 on batteries during it's short life. I was so disappointed with this purchase. It has so much potential (easy to use, good sound) but ultimately the cheap construction ruined it.

I had to send it back once. I got it back within a few days, but with no explanation with what was wrong.

Overall Rating : 1
In theory the thing was great. However, after proving itself unreliable in front of so many people so many times I can't recommend it. I treated the unit with care. The base unit was in a road case and I moved the transmitter in a padded case. No matter how much I babied it, it still failed time after time. After dropping $400 I would have hoped for better performance, instead all I got was about a dozen mysterious failures with no rhyme or reason.

Pretty nice wireless system. I love that you can change frequencies and how it looks, but you don't have a great case with accesories like Shure does. Oh well, it's easy to use, even if it is a bodypack. You can run around and it will still work, and the manual is pretyy stupid.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is UHF, so it is clear. True diversity(two antennaes) means it finds the clearer signal of the two, so it's even better. Even if you do get some weird stuff, switch over to another frequency, that's the kool part.

Reliability : 9
You should always be prepared with a backup, but for this I don't think you'll need one in a gig. I depend on it, but I don't gig, I just jump around my room, it's good for that.

I dunno

Overall Rating : 9
The Bottom line for this is that it rocks. Between this and the Shure I think it's pretty close, but for price Shure beats it. Oh well, you can change frequencies on this and it works good. I play punk and if you do too, you'll know how crazy it can get. This is the nu,ber one essential for emotional playing, and it's tons of fun to use.

This UHF 15 channel wireless unit is also known as the WMS80. The WR2000 model is sold only at Guitar Center.

As with most wireless stuff, it is easy to use. Just plug it in and play. The channels are easily changed as are the batteries. It is nice that it uses AA instead of 9V. It is cheaper.

The manual is mostly useless. It must have been translated from German.

Sound Quality : 10
I chose this unit because it is the quietest one that I could find. It really is quieter than the cord that I was using. The dynamic range is very good and it has no problem broadcasting the complete spectrum of sounds from my 5 string bass. It handles everything down to 50 Hz, making it perfect for bass.

Reliability : 8
I have heard nothing but great reviews about AKG. Being German made, I expect it to last a while. IF there is one beef that I have with it, it is that it is housed in a plastic case. I keep it racked up, but it should be metal for durability. I use it in a very hostile environment for wirelesses, (many wirelesses, tons of metal objects, other EM signals) and it performs flawlessly. With 15 channels of UHF available, I have never had a problem finding clean air.

Customer Support : 9
The have a pretty extensive website with great support features. I contacted their American rep and got very good attention very quickly. Being from guitar center, I expect the service to be excellent.

Overall Rating : 9
I have never really trusted wireless rigs. Even the nicest VHF stuff is suspect. I think UHF is the answer. I have no fear using this at all. I have also been hesitant to go wireless fearing it might color my sound. Not at all. This unit functions EXACTLY as a cord would except for you can stand 300' from your amp and never have anything wrapping around your feet.

As far as specs are concerned, this unit is the best in it's price point. It's dynamic range and s/n ratio is much better than others I checked into, including Samson and Shure.

Again, I hate the plastic case, but they were nice enough to offer a rack mount kit so it stays safely tucked into the rack.

It certainly makes the stage more friendly. I also like being able to walk out front during sound checks at get a nice taste for what we sound like.
