Sgx 2000 (and) Express models....Probobly the best sounding studio quality devices ever to hit the market for a guitarist. Sure, it takes time to set up, but well worth it! Not made anymore, but We'll get to that shortly.

Havent seen ANYTHING made to date that sounds as good..live or studio. Has ANY effect you could possibly want or need. Works well with all quality tube amps that Ive put it through.

This is why it's not made anymore: Unfortunately, although the outside metal casing was bullet-proof, on the inside we have a major problem. Common sense tells us that if we place 3 12AX7 tubes too close to a printed circut board, the heat will crack the board after a while. This is prevelant on ALL of these units, and was the reason for their demise. Its a real shame, as I said, nothing Ive seen since can touch the sounds this thing can generate.

When they were still in buisness, they were great!

Playing now for 33 years, and have (or had), most everything ever made at one point. Im really dissapointed this unit isnt still being made (with the above being corrected), as NOTHING can even compare (excepting an Eventide), but those are soooo expensive.

I've buyed the SGX-2000 three years ago. It's fantastic.
To create a new Preset is a very special thing, becouse you must edit any value.
So i use the "SGX200Express" software from Glenn Thomas.
If you use the X-15 to change the Preset's you'll have no problems.

The tube distortion sound are very good.
A view month ago i use a POD, but the POD sound's "digital".

This unit is amazing! Presets are very, very good and it is much easy to use with an intuitive analog section.

There's a lot of incredible really good sounds: very impressive distortions, a good section for crunchy sound, bright clean, excellent effects like reverb, chorus, flanger etc...and you can always choose the level of warm and harmonic richness, with the help of a powerful 12ax7 valve preamplification tube-section.
I have an Ibanez 77bfp, two Ibanez Rg Series, one Peavey Wolfgang, a lot of Fender Stratocaster american and mexican, and I use Laney and Carvin amplification. I used my setup with Art Sgx 2000 and it was very easy to have distortions in Vai, Satriani or Van Halen's style. Ok!

This unit has a good reliability, very strong and impossible to destroy! I have the same battery from the beginning and I never had problems with the memory.

I'm a rocker, I love Vai, Satriani, Van Halen, Howe, Malmsteen...and this unit is perfect for me. I begin to play when I was 13, an now I'm 30. I like the possibility to use the digital section for the effects and the analog tube-preamplifier section only to add warm and harmonics. I like it much more than Rocktron or Digitech effects preamplifier. As everyone knows, this unit is the best one that ART has ever made. If it were stolen or lost, I would buy it again and again. I use it for live exhibitions and studio recording.
MARVELOUS !!!

I love mine. I found some awesome sounds on it, presets are good and useful but I prefer to program it. Secret trick: make a preset with tube distortion called "jazz tubes" with very little gain and no bite and run anything through it. It works like awesome exciter, really warm and fatten up sound!!! Great for studio use on any type of material, not only guitar.

the ART SGX2000 is very easy to use once you know how, sounds kinda obvious, but it did take me a few weeks to get the hang of everything on there but once you do its excellent. the supplied manual is also good.

the sound quality is very good. plenty of distortion. i don't find it all that noisy but of course when you turn it up loud and add tons of distortion you will need to use a noise gate. the modulations on this thing are lovely, some of the best i have heard. i am using the ART with a Randall 75watt valve amp, ibanez S470, ibanez JEM and a Marlin state of the art series guitar.

What more can i say, its well built, sounds great and there are some good deals on the second hand ones.

This unit is my favorite unit to use on stage and in the studio. It is especially good with the x-15 footpedal. It can take some time to program the exact sound that you are looking for however with patience you can acheive ANY guitar sound you are trying to hear. One reason it can be time consuming to program is because of the number of effects (16 at Once) and the number of parameters each effect has in them, not to mention the analog nob setting and the analog percent settings to tweek the final product of sound!!!!!!
Sound Quality
:
10
The sound quality is the best quality on stage I have ever experienced because it has a perfect sensitivity on its noise gate. You can have the most ultimate gain and distortion and volume on 11 (eleven) and stop in the middle of a song with complete silence. If you want the feedback to ring through with pitches and pitch harmonics this gate wont cut them off and ruin your creativity!!!!!

im using a 86 kramer pacer and a 80's charvel model 1 with warmouth scalloped neck,86 marshall 4212 combo ,several pedals,a vs1680 recorder and rocktron chameleon 2000 cover any type of sound i need..once you figure out how to program the gate and gain setting the unit is very quiet.i can get sounds like most 70-80s bands on this havent really tried the tuning down thing but if i need that ill just mic my marshall.i love the hot watz preset, tweak it a little and you have a vh-greg howe type of sound add some effects and it really rocks.i bought for 125 on ebay,if you are recording and want something different than these new modeling proccesssors check this out.

i dont gig anymore mostly record at home, these seem to be pretty reliable seeing that they came out in the early 90'2 and are many still around, several other art products dont even come close to that .always have some sort of backup comes from personal expierience whether you use anything eventually it will break down

i play pretty much everything but country, from early 70's rock to current.this is great for 70's and 80's it has the effects and tones you need, with a tube tone.ive been playin for 30 yrs have opened for national acts, played the club circuit and recorded albums.have owned just about everything available at one time or another.i would get another if it was stolen.i love a few tones that i can get out of it,i dont really hate anything about it,because every amp or preamp i have ever owned lacks something, cannot do everything.i owne done of these before, when it came out there were not alot of choices,i had a rocktron progap in the early 90's,great tone but had to rack a effects unit with it.if you need a inexpensive pre amp effects unit for recording check ebay out, these sell for around 125 bucks now and are different from the new modeling crap out there

I thinkthe effects on it are awesome and that its the best thing i have.i like its distortian its its chorus and delay(eric johnson crunch 199)

I have an older one Software version 1.02. The manual reads like a tax form that may be written in Swaheli. At first you can be really overwhelmed. As you get used to it (within a couple days) it becomes very easy to use.

I've had my unit since it first came out (SGX2000) which I believe was 90 or '91. I have never had any problem with it. I have had to replace the internal battery a few times and the tube (12AX7) a few times but other than that -it fires up every time with no problems. The only "oddity" is that when the battery goes low you it will not boot up correctly so you have to to a factory reset to play it. Just keep an eye on you battery voltage and your golden though. If the decimal point after the preset number is lit up -change your battery.

I am not completely sure what I paid. I believe I paid around $300 maybe upwards of $400 but that was like 13 years ago. You maybe able to do more with those pedalboards with bulit in effects but to me they don't come close to the ART SGX as far as sound quality. This thing sounds BIG.
