When these things work, they are beautiful! Customers tend to tell me NOT to fix the amp and go through noisy pots in the amp to settle up my minimum charge, then use their stomp box for reverb.

It's not as good as spring reverb, but it's free and many people already have it in a pedal.

Reliability : 2
Don't get me wrong here, the amps I work on are out of warranty. But gimme a break, there are thousands and thousands of amps out there that are 30 to 40 years old with reverb units that have not failed.

IMO, these things should not fail unless you drop them off a mountain.

Dunno yet, I need to call them to see if the one in my shop from a Fender is covered by warranty. This is the second one I've seen in a few months go bad. I'm getting to where I want to advise customers NOT to repair the amp and let the owner save the minimum shop charge.

I jotted down Bills number below and I'll post here with the results of our discussion.

I'm an amp tech... it's tough to tell someone who has a LOT of buckaziods invested in a nice amp that it's gonna cost a hundred bucks to get their amp fixed. I fear that the one I put in won't be any better and the client will be after me later on, so I may not recommend it being fixed unless they agree to NO WARRANTY on parts or labor!

It's not really a pedal or anything, it's a reverb tank, but it's easy to use.

Sound Quality : 10
Accutronics spring reverbs are the best, and it sounds very pristine on every amp i know of that has a working tank.

I really hope they are as good as everyone i know says.

I love reverb, it's the effect that never came off of anything i played. But, for some reason, when I bought this amp, the reverb hums uncontrollably when set past 2, on any volume level. The main reason I'm writing this is because I heard that the producers of this tank are based in IL, and the only Accutronics website I could find is a company based out of SC. Maybe i'm a moron, but i don't want to ask any questions to the wrong company. So, if anyone from Accutronics reads this, if they could tell me how to get in touch with them to figure out how much it is to fix this baby, i'd be really happy. I'm getting sick of the sterile Korg reverb (it's digital, surprised?) I have been forced into using.

My name is Bill Wenzloff. I work in engineering department at Sound Enhancements, Inc (we make the accutronics brand reverb tanks) If any one EVER has a problem with any of our reverb tanks, please call me at 1-800-284-5172 ext 12 and you will be helped. We sell reverb tanks direct or have a list of parts distributors you can go to as well. I am not sure why "disgruntled" below had a problem ordering from us, we sell direct all the time.

I couldn't even order one if I drove to their factory in Cary, IL and swore on a stack of bibles I wouldn't reveal the location. As paranoid as they come!

Thank god for digital!

Okay, this admittedly doesn't fit too well in the "effects" category (although it's the 'effect' most guitar players take for granted), if a company does well, I think people should know about it. I bought a USED JCM900 Dual Reverb (a head that's close to 10 years old). I had it about a week before the Accutronics Spring Reverb unit took a powder. I contacted Accutronics in Cary, Illinois and the unit was IMMEDIATELY replaced with a brand-new unit. No cost, no questions, no hassles, no problem. They even shipped it OVERNIGHT. This is OUTSTANDING customer service, and Accutronics is to be highly commended. Despite the fact that they are the #1 spring-reverb unit supplier to amp manufacturers, they had the time and patience to take care of the 'little guy' end user. Thanks again, Accutronics! My JCM900 baby is back in top form. I'd like to hear from others who've dealt w/Accutronics. I wish I could remember the name of the individual who helped me.
