Addrock Electric Smile

It has an output control and an intensity control. If you can't figure out two knobs you should probably get a new hobby, like staring at the wall. It's very easy to get a good sound out of it. I can't comment on the manual since it's not needed.

The sound quality is great. It can be extremely heavy. If you want subtle just roll back the volume a little. It's not very noisy unless you throw another overdrive/distortion on it. I'm pretty sure that every setting I have had it on has sounded great. If your into that octave fuzz sound then this is definately right up your alley. My favorite is through the neck pickup on a standard strat. Nice!

Never had any problems. One of the most sturdy pedals I have had. I have used it on gigs and have never had a backup. Never had a problem with the Ol Yeller either.

Never had to deal with them.

If your going to buy a pedal of this nature this is the way to go. It's relatively cheap and sounds great. I have never had any problems and I highly recommend Addrock procucts. To top it all off it's constanly smilling at how amazing you sound (at least thats what I like to tell myself).

It's easy to use and different from what you may have used in the past. That is a good thing. It's temping to want a million controls on everything, But this pedal succeeds in giving you lots of control with just 2 knobs. You won;t need a manual and it sounds cool (and different) in just about every setting.

This pedals acts someehat diffrerently with singlecoils versus humbuckers. Gear used ---> Shur, PRS, Gibson, Fender, Kendrick, Fuchs, Mojave,, etc. This pedal adds a vintage vibe and an "extra dimension" to whatever you use it with. I am not a Hendrix clone and wasn;t looking for his toen in this pedal, but it is there. Judging the pedal just on the basis of tone it is great. The wild rumpus that ensues when you use it with anything or use anything through it (even other pedals) will bring a smile to your face. My best comparison is to the ZVEX pedal. The addrock is quieter and all of its sounds are usefule. The ZVEX is very cool, but I sold it because it ws hard to conjusre up the same "magic" each time with it. The addrock is dead quiet between notes. I am not sure how this is accomplished. but, it comes as a suprise compared to the range of noisey tonal artifacts you can conjusre up along with your guitar signal.

Very solid. It will take a lickin' and still sound great. The quality of the hardware, finish etc. is first class!

HL, the designer and builder of this pedal, is a serious pro player and device maker. He aims to please and he pays attenton to the details.

This delivers the good in hifi* for a reallt reasonable price. Cool cloth carrying case is a plus. Just be ready for something wild. This pedal is not for the timid. It is folks like me who are after that vocal and syrypy octave tone that guys like Mike Landau get.

An octave up pedal is an odd beast. This pedal is very very easy to use compared to many others I have tried. Two knobs. This pedal has lots of volume. It took about three minutes to dial in the sound I have been looking for, for along time! The trick with this pedal is to use your neck pickup and roll your tone WAY down. Also roll back you volume. As you roll back the volume knob you will hear the " sweet spot ".

Sound quality is amazing. That's all I can say. I use a Strat w/ EMG SA's, a PRS Goldtop > Electric Smile > MJM London Fuzz > Keeley Compressor > Teese Picture Wah > Clark Gainster > Maxon AD-900 > MK-4 with a JBL K120 or a Blue Angel With 3 10's. For an octave up pedal it is very quiet. As I said before, this thing has alot of volume. I was looking for the Hendrix holy grail octave up sound and here it is. Look no further, here it is. The first night I used it, two guys in the crowd stood up and cheered! That's how good the Electric Smile sounds. If this pedal doesn't make you smile, start playing the flute, It's just fun to use.

I gig without a backup!

I have two of H.L's Pedals and may buy a third. He ALWAYS emails or calls back. Same class as Keeley and Fox.

I play in a 3 piece Blues/Rock band an have to play a few different styles. This pedal has made us sound better. I have been playing for over 30 years and I feel I know great equipment from your run of the mill stuff and the Addrock pedals are top shelf. Yes I would buy another one in a heartbeat. If you want a great sounding and easy to dial in octave up pedal just buy an Electric Smile. Your search is over. Alone the Electric Smile is killer, but add a fuzz and it becomes a beast. You will be heard with this combo. Of all the pedals I have this is without a doubt the most fun to play. You won't use it on every song but when you do it will stand out!

How easy is it to get a sound out of it? Not a single bad sound. Goes from smooth distortion, to Purple Haze, to insane octave craziness! Just turn the knobs, there's only two, how hard can it be?

No noise whatsover, the layout is excellent. I wanted an Octavia and wasn't really too concerned about the price. Fulltone, Voodoo Lab, Roger Mayer, even Way Huge, I checked them all. The Electric Smile is the clear winner. Not only that, it is one of the least expensive. How can you possibly go wrong?

Can't say. I play in my room or go jam, but I certainly don't have a regular club gig or anything like that. Seems tough enough, but I baby it. It's my prize pedal!

Can't say enough about H.L. Great guy, willing to do anything to make sure you're satisfied. Goes the extra mile. You certainly won't find that from any of the other companies.

I play all sorts of music. I am classically trained, so I like to get my Bach on, but acoustic guitar only gets you so much. Ain't nothing like blasting Purple Haze with the amp on 11. Being a classical player, noise bothers the hell out of me. I can't stand to have any. I certainly have no complaints about the Electric Smile, it is an excellent pedal and I would be glad to answer any questions anyone might have. Feel free to email me. In all honesty, there isn't a better sounding octave pedal available for any price. You simply can not go wrong.

In front of a slightly distorted amp get you the closest TYCH-BRAHE tones that I have ever heard!!(and yes I have played through one)
Remember to role back a bit on the volume of you'r guitar for the best results.

SUPER quiet with a real true bypass.

The Fulltone ULIMATE OCTAVE is good,but this thing is ridiculous

Built super rugged.
Lufetime warranty with 90 days on the switch.That is understandable for the sitch is somewhat dainty(to no fault of ADDROCK I'm sure)

HL is overhelpfull on the phone and is super open to feedback and/or suggestions

If you want an octavia(specifically the Tycho-Brahe) get this one.

This is THE ultimate "Octavia" clone !!!
I was shopping around for Octavia pedal, and after testing every Octavia clone out there (Voodoo Lab, Roger Mayer, Dunlop, even FULLTONE etc), the ADDROCK IS THE WINNER hands down.
To show what I mean, a friend of mine got an ORIGINAL TYCOBRAHE OCTAVIA that he let me borrow, the ELECTRIC SMILE is a dead on copy of the Tycobrahe.
The final days comes to a match between the FULLTONE Ultimate Octave, Voodoo Lab Octavia & The electric smile. Using Tycobrahe as the reference, I try the 3 pedals simultaneously and MONEY IS NO OBJECT.
IT WAS NO COMPETITION!!!! The ELECTRIC SMILE shines not only by my vote, but also by 2 other guitar players.
The Electric Smile has the Smoothest and also the raunchiest octave effect I have ever experience in my career.
Using a slightly distorted amp, the pedal does deliver the true octave effect (anybody who listen to Hendrix or Michael Landau will know what I mean) and is VERY VERY VERY QUIET !!!!.
Think as the Sensitivity as an added bonus, because it control the FUZZ. Even with sensitivity turns to 0, the octave effect still very full and pleasing.
Using the effect with front single coil pickup yield the most result, especially if the tone is completely turn off and Volume about 3-4 (trust me on this).
I use the pedal with my Tom Anderson Drop Top, Tyler Strat, Gibson LP Elegant custom shop & Custom Made Telecaster.
I incorporated the Electric Smile with my rack system. Rack contains: Mesa Boogie Triaxis, TC Electronic G-Force, Digitech IPS 33b( Harmionizer), Cry Baby Rack, Rocktron Hush, DBX Compressor, Mesa Boogie 20/20 Power Amp, Zvex Fuzz Factory, EH Big Muff PI, Digital Music Corp Audio Switcher, Ground Control & 2 Mesa Boogie 1-12 EV Cabinet (Close Back).

Built like a tank, with 2 chicken switchs.
No Backup Neceseary.

I talk to the inventor, HL, on the phone and he is the kind of guy that stands behind his product 100%.
He still makes everything by himself (PCB, Soldering, etc) and tested each product before he shipped them.
He literally numbered and dated each PCB and pedal (mine is # 15).
I respect him as an inventor and as a person. The only other person that I respect in the Pedal world is Zachary (of ZVEX)

This is a well thought pedal, made by guitarist, for guitarist and with guitar player in mind.
If I loose it (knock on wood!!) I would definitely buy (order) again. The only drawback is that currently only 4 music store carries the product (HL can't mass product his pedal?..!!), but you can check his website (when he decide to put something in it) at www.addrock.com
