Easy to get a good sound out of it. There are a few options for the tweakster. It has internal trim pots to tailor the brightness and high end of each channel. You can also run the pedal anywhere from 9 to 18 volts. Easy to read manual detailing the trim pots. I love HL's humor. It's an overdrive pedal in the end. How hard can it be to use, right?

I got new NSOY and I love it. IT's true that both channels are very similar. Channel B has a bit more gain. To me it sounds and feels better than the Pro Analog Dual Drive that I owned for a while. The NSOY sounds truer to my guitars and amps, and sustains better. The Dual Drive didn't sustain well and had a weird sounding bottom end and low mids to me. I'm running my NSOY at 18 volts, which makes it very open. The way this overdrive responds is very amp like. I like the 2 volume controls, so you can bump up the 2nd channel a little louder to make a solo stick out just right. The harmonics just explode from this pedal and you can easily coax it into very musical feedback and sustain. No mid hump here. I think HL originally designed the Ol' Yeller as a TS808 clone, but his V2 was modded to the point of not sounding like a TS808. More gain, no mid hump, more amp like, cleans up great, etc. The NSOY is like having 2 channels of the regular V2 Ol' Yeller. You can use one for rthym and one for lead. Or one for a clean boost and one for dirt. You get the idea. I've played and owned many overdrives in my day, and I'm a very, very tough customer to please, but the NSOY is a great pedal. It has passed my litmus testing with all of my guitars (Suhr Swamp Ash Classic w/V54s, EJ Strat, PRS McCarty, and Hamer Gold Top Monaco Elite w/P90s), amps (Germino Lead 55, Mojave Sidewinder, and Victoria Victrolux), and pedals (Rx Elec Experience Pedal, Teese Pic Wah, and Euthymia ICBM). And I haven't even messed with the internal trimmers or tried it at 12 volts yet (power by Flatliner).

Addrock products are built with the best parts available. Each and every part is top notch. The NSOY is built like a proverbial brick house. I should know as I live in one (8^ ).

HL stands behind all of his products and is very helpful and friendly. His customer service is superb. Of course, I have an added benefit of living only 2 hours away from the music store he works in.

I play blues and rock, my own original tunes too in the rock vain. I really love the sound of my amps cranked up, but that's not always an option volume-wise. I love the two volume and two gain controls to get contrasting sounds out of each channel. Both channels individually are worth the price of admission. If I could do anything different on this pedal, it would only be to have individual tone controls for each channel on the face of the pedal. Then again, that's what the internal trim pots can do. It sustains great and responds perfectly to pickup selections, and volume/tone control manipulations.
