This Alesis stomp is a very compact multieffect for acoustic/electric guitar, easy to use if you don't want waste time in program settngs. The last effect remain the same after shut off and restart, a very useful option you can find only on the newest Zoom A2. Full editable location for the presets.
It make rather than an acoustic sound, into the Alesis way (I have one Nanoverb and the nice sounding little Picoverb). Large pedal, lot of space for my feets, lightweight and battery operation capable (over 15 hours with 4 1700 Mah NiMh batteries, quite good), no adapter included. Simply operation with fast Eq settings in mixerboard style.

I have a Yamaha FGX720SCA and with it the effect work fine, a little tinny and noisy at high frequencies, due to the 20 bit/30khz operation, but is perfect for my Ibanez Aeg601n with nylon strings.
Pretty natural sounding, I love it, also on my classical guitar with bridge piezo pickup (I prefere it to my Fishman model G, good old boy!). Not too good in special effects but true stereo image from it.
I have some other acoustic fx, like the Alesis Nanoverb and Picoverb (reverbs) and the Zoom Acoustic 504 (good autowah and rich chorus), my favourite remain the new Zoom A2 (24 bit, very clean sound) but the AcoustiFX have classics Alesis reverbs, chorus and delay I love. I make 80's fantastics sounds with it and my old Steelphon GA801 amp and Steelphon cabinet (from Italy, 1974). To make a perfect gig I always add a little pre/DI box like the Art tube MP near the amp, to find the silence.
No feedback destroyer on it, but Alesis choose to simplify the eq section: this is impossible on-the-fly with Zoom or other stuff.
Good sounding stomp with my USA Strat Plus, that is zero noise guitar, something like an acoustic simulator (isn't it?).

Actually, I said, is my second choice nultieffects unit. Lot of pedal in my gigboard, this one is the perfect acoustic backup and usually I let it attached in my acoustic live setup, to stay in tune and use three/four default presets that sounds good for me.

Buy used for 25???, never repaired. No problem within my large Alesis stuff.
Plastic box seems to be solid. No scratches, good.
Lot of manuals at the Alesis website.

I play 80's music, I love fingerpicking and Italian new folk. The acoustiFx is what I need, nice sounding not expensive, fast setting and solid constructed.
I play guitar from 1989. At this time I work with Event EZbus digital mixer, Reference 3 way speakers with subwoofer; Lot of mixers, Steelphon vintage amp and cabinet, Audio Technica, DB and EV microphones, Alesis Nanoverb effects processor for the vocal setup.
My drummer sometimes use the AcoustiFX for the reverse reverb effect to add it on the snare, I think he's fool, but the sound is good!

The AcoustiFX is a very nice multi effects box for acoustic guitar, but I would say, as sort of an acoustic purist, that the acoustiFx is more for the acoustic-electric and will give you that electric sound, rather than an acoustic sound. I found that the AcoustiFx produces a very thin, high pitched tone. I don't think that the AcoustiFx complemented by acoustic style, so I sold it.
The AcoustiFx is a very complete multi effects unit and there are alot of things that this little box can accomplish. The AcoustiFx is completely editable and then can also be restored back to factory presets. The variations of effects are probably limitless.
I bought my AcoustiFx on ebay and there was no manual with it then, but the AcoustiFx does come with a full users manual that is very easy to understand. I was able to download a copy of the very same factory user's manual on the Alesis website at www.alesis.com. Click Support.
I don't believe that the AcoustiFx has gone through a revision yet. The AcoustiFx was first produced in 2003, I believe.

I've become what I call an Acoustic Purist. I've walked away from many of the multi effects units because they don't give me the sound that I am looking for, but believe that the AcoustiFx does give some really nice effects that can compliment an Acoustic-Electric. I enjoy playing within the Folk Genre and also the Celtic/Irish Genre. Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, Kathy Mattea, John Denver, Michael Card, Cademon's Call, Alisson Krause and Union Station.
Overall, I believe that the AcoustiFx does produce a quality array of effects for the acoustic-electric guitar. The AcoustiFX's effects are milder than the GuitarFX that Alesis manufactures. GuitarFx is geared toward the full electric guitar so the distortion and overdrive effects on the AcoustiFx are going to be less intense.
I own a Takamine (Jasmine) ES-40c Acousti-Electric and I've played it through a small 10 watt amplifier.
The acoustiFx is very quiet. I have never noticed any unwanted noise in the mix.
If you program the AcoustiFx correctly; EQ, Parameters, Effects, etc. the effects should always sound great.
I own a Kustom KA10 10 Watt Practice Amp.

Yes, the AcoustiFx is a very strong little unit. If you program it correctly and know how to operate it, you're good to go.

I never had to deal with customer service or technical support concerning the AcoustiFX. I don't believe that there has been an upgrade and I never had to have it repaired.

I play Acoustic Folk and Celtic/Irish Folk. The acoustiFx is not well suited to this genre of music.
I have been playing acoustic guitar for 27 years. I own a Takamine (Jasmine) ES-40c acoustic-electric guitar and an Austin AU518 12 String Acoustic. I am looking for an Octave Mandolin. At one time I owned a full travel sound system; 8 Channel Mixer, Carver PM350 Amp, EV s200 Series Speakers, Alesis Midiverb III effects processor. If I were to buy equipment again, I would go with the Alesis Multimix 16 Firewire Mixer, QSC 2502 Power Amp, Raine ME 60s Graphic EQ, EV ZX1 Speakers, EV Sb122 Sub Woofers, Audio-technica Pro 37 Small Diaphram Condensors for micing acoustic instruments, and EV N/D 767a Super Cardioid Microphones for vocals.
I sold the Alesis AcoustiFx.
The only other effects processor that I owned beside the AcoustiFx was the Alesis Midiverb III. The AcoustiFx can be controlled by your foot, while the Midiverb III cannot.

First of all, one needs to understand that this unit is NOT intended for use with an acoustic rig - a little misleading branding by our friends at Alesis. Rather, the unit is intended to be used with an electric rig to supply acoustic-like tones w/o having to swap guitars. I purchased it for use with an acoustic guitar (yep, they got me) and the unit is just not very good. I cannot imagine that it would be good for its intended purpose either. The factory presets are, well, just weird. Certainly nothing very useful for an "acoustic" tonality. I get the impression they took their GuitarFX unit, changed the color, and tried to tap a new market. Other reviewers have complained that the edit cycle, as described in the manual, doesn't work. Well, I must disagree, it works exactly like they say it does. However, I have experienced random changes to presets days or weeks later. The tuner isn't very good either - it'll get you close, but I rely on my IntelliTouch instead.

I use it with a Takimine F-350M with an aftermarket Fishman piezo, and sometimes a DiMarzio sound hole pickup, routed through a passive DI into the board. None of the effects are very good. There are a lot of digital artifacts that emerge, especially as the strength of the input signal increases. The guitar models are really unnatural. All of the effects seem to play havoc with EQ balance as well, so changing patches can drastically alter your overall tonal balance and level. After many weeks of tweaking, I finally found a combination of reverb and chorus that isn't terrible, and I basically just use that patch. I will replace this unit as soon as the budget permits. My advice: don't waste your time and money on this thing.
Reliability

It is moderately reliable, although it has a tendency to turn off if it gets a hard jolt. By turn off, I don't mean go into bypass or mute mode, I mean the thing goes dark and requires a power off to get it back. I have gigged with it w/o backup, but I only use the acoustic rig for a few tunes, so if it crapped out the night wouldn't be a total loss. If I was gigging for a living I wouldn't have this unit at all, so I wouldn't need a backup.

I play a lot of different styles: classic rock, 80s pop, alt country. I've been playing for 40 years. My other gear is related to the electric rig - 69 LP Deluxe, Epi Sheraton II, Peavey Ultra 410, lots of Boss and DoD stomp boxes, Worley wah. I've been searching for something to give the acoustic a little more range and efficacy, but this unit is not the answer. If it disappeared I would definitely NOT replace it with another of the same unit. This unit provides a lot of frustration for the money. Avoid it.
