No-brainer controls for the most part. Most of the effects usually come with multiple parameters, so you might be guessing at what the 'Adjust' knob will do, but when there's only one knob it's not hard to figure out what it does.

I've mainly used this live as a noise tool. Makes some great sounds, but def not made for live use. The knobs are stiff studio-style and it's impossible to tell what preset you're on if you're not looking straight at it. Depending on what you need to do with it, this may no matter.

I am looking into hacking a footswitch to the 'adjust' knob, which will greatly increase its versatility.

Sound Quality : 9
The unit paid for itself when I discovered the literally endless sustain you get by turning any of the hall/room reverbs all the way up. It's surprisingly thick and smoky, and makes the original instrument almost unrecognizable. Sounds as good as an analog synth for ambient/abstract stuff. A friend of mine also uses one live with his vocals and does amazing things by tweaking it on the fly. The cheapness of all the effects in general gives them a certain character that can certainly be exploited with a little creativity. Def worth the price if you're after more weird/obscure sounds.

That being said, if you're after studio quality sound processing, def do not expect it from this. There is also a fair amount of noise produced by some of the presets, and it's very easy to inadvertently overdrive the input.

Reliability : No Opinion
Have only had it for a short while, and no problems so far. Seems fairly sturdily built in terms of case/knobs/TRS, but the power jack is a bit loose. Seems like the sort of thing that will end up being broken a year or so down the line if it's not looked after.

I've used it mostly with guitar for noise/electronic/ambient stuff so far, which is why I originally got it. It's good for anyone with some experimental curiosity in them and a thing for reverb-soaked ambience. not the most capable or great-sounding piece of gear, but its simplicity makes it an appealing part of a minimal setup where you need to be inventive and push your tools and methods outside of their comfort zone, rather than rely on the sounds they were designed to produce. I've been sampling the massive reverb tail with a Kaoss Pad on the fly, making chords that I can then play off the pads or build loops out of.. I can see a lot of ways it could be integrated with other gear as well. def going to continue messing around and seeing how much versatility I can squeeze out of it, for instance a pedal hacked to the 'Adjust' knob would allow those huge over-sustained notes to be utilized live as if they were coming from a keyboard. For the bargain prices you can find these at online, I think it's an excellent purchase, and kind of just a fun quirky thing to mess with.

Alesis reverbs have always been my favorites, along with lexicon. yes, they are cheaper, but you will get a lot of nice sounds with some few extras.

Looks sturdy to me... with a nice metal case. The interface is plastic, but that is where they cut corners, The outputs are plastic.

Total gig worthy! I always preferred a stand-alone gig ready reverb/modulation device, and I like the ease of the tweaking. The rest is on you-the musician..assuming you have some EARS. I believe that you can achieve wonders with these kinds of cheap gig machines, as long as you follow some good taste. I play jazz/funk and some classic rock, and it's always good to split my guitar into two amps (stereo), using the dual outputs of the Nanoverb, as well as a part of a daisy chain combo.

Adjusting the input and output knobs to match your original signal is tough. The Mix and Adjust knobs vary based on what effect you're using. And 12 o clock sounds fine at some reverbs, and waayyy too much on others.

Sound Quality : 2
I use Epi Les Paul Custom > Crybaby > Boss OC 2 > Tech 21 XXL > Green Russian Big Muff pi > Ibanez DE7 > Fender DeVille 410

I honestly can't believe these people are rating this thing anything higher than a 5. This thing is a noisy piece of crap tone sucker. The reverbs are OK at best, but most are useless. The delay adds so much noise which renders it compeltely useless. Literally, there is a metallic buzz on the delay setting. Also, you cannot set the repeats very loud at all, so they get buried under what you're playing. The Flanger is completely useless; forcing your signal to go into a really deep slump which will just make your speakers thump ever cycle. Not enough control over it. The chorus is halfway decent (literally halfway).

I don't use this thing in my live set up ever. I use an Ibanez DE7 Delay, and my amp's Spring Reverb. Bypassing this thing is a *****. With a normal single button foot switch connected to the bypass jack, you have to click twice to turn the effects on and off. Some of the effects don't turn off this way either. Naturally, it's not even close to true bypass.

I'd suggest getting actual effects pedals instead of this little piece of junk. Get a decent delay pedal or reverb unit.

I've had a knob fall off before, it popped back on, but it's loose now. not a big deal I guess.

i've tried to tell you as honestly as I can, how much this unit lacks. If you really want to go throw $100 away on it, it's your money, but I would highly recommend against it.

Do yourself a favor and use your money for something better.

YES! I took this unit out tonight for a noise performance and once I packed up my gear, I stuck the nanoverb in a plastic bag and as I was carrying it, it slipped and dropped HARD on the concrete of the loading dock I played from... I was worried, for sure... I examined it and it looked fine and all the knobs were great, it didn't even get any chips... I just tested it and it's still working great! Thanks, Alesis! This is seriously one of the toughest peices of gear I own right now. besides the crackling which has always been a problem with my unit (again, I thin kit's because I got it used) this thing works without a singal issue... this is about the 5th time I have dropped or banged it, and probably the hardest I've done it...

It's easy to get a good sound once you've gotten accustomed to tuning in the right input/output volumes... the reverb mix and amount/effect selection are pretty obvious... I would like to have a button for bypassing on the box though (I don't own a remote bypass switch, but a they at least have an input for one).

Sound Quality : 8
I can achieve a nice reverb that reminds me of some My Bloody Valentine stuff, and it does a pretty good "standard" reverb... it can achieve pretty good hall and bathroom type reverbs, which are the kind I'm after... it can be set to have extremely (unrealisticly) long reverb, to short echoing and then nice and lush reverbs... it's a digital effect, but it does a pretty convincing job, especially for the low cost.

One problem I have is that one of the knobs sometimes pops and crackles, but I got it used so it may not be an issue with a new unit... (Mine had been pretty well-used when I got it)

Reliability : 9
It's well-built... the knobs feel really flimsy though... I have knocked it/dropped it a couple of times and it's still going.

Alesis (before they were bought out) were, for sure, a company that set out to make something good AND affordable, though sometimes this meant less-sturdy, sometimes "not the greatest" products, but for the most part they have been on target... I have not bought anything since they were bought out (actually, all my Alesis gear was bought second hand) so I can't really describe what they are putting out these days.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never spoken with them.

Overall Rating : 9
It's a nice, cheap reverb in a tiny package, great for musicians on a budget... there's deffinatley going to be better racks out there, but for the price, it's absolutely wonderful...

This unit is too easy to use and you can finely adjust the sound to suit your needs. I got this about three months ago and I didn't even need to read the manual! If you know what sound you want (and like) then that's all you need - let your ears do the tuning!

The drummer in the band wanted to test it out on his Electric Drum Kit. He now WANTS ONE for the simple reason that it is EASIER and QUICKER to turn a knob than to scroll through a piddly LCD screen on stage adjusting Reverbs!

Sound Quality : 10
I have used this on a Bass (with Bartolini PU's) and Acoustic Guitar (Ibanez Talman TCM50) and it sounds great in both applications through the mix. I haven't used it in the studio yet but live it holds up amazingly well.

I mainly use the Reverb sections and it shines on stage. I have not noticed any noise unless the output is turned all the way up on certain effects (the ones i don't use anyway) so I back it off a tad.

The drummer finds that it makes his sound FULLER and adds a bit of depth to an otherwise sterile sounding kit.

For the price it's SUPERB - a 10 in my books!

Reliability : 10
It hasn't broke yet so full marks ;o)

You don't have an excuse anymore not to get one. Who needs a rack full of gear when you can use a "Little Box of Tricks" instead!

For the price and what you get, THIS IS IT!

If it was to go missing, you can pick one up 2nd hand for around $50 and keep on playing!

Easy enough... set your levels, set the dial to the clearly-marked effect, mix the ratio of instrument to effect and tweak the effect. Done. Manual? What manual? I don't need no stinking manual!!! Especially one translated from Japanese into a bad version of English.

Sound Quality : 8
Sound quality is good to very good. The reverbs are all very true to their type, but some do sound better than others. I like to use Hall 2 and 3 alot. I'm guessing the pre-determined decay on the verbs is what seperates one from another. The chorus sounds are very musical. The flanger is fair. There are a couple of combined effects that are ok also. The delay sounds good but you can't control the feedback which is the number of repeats although you can control the length of the delay time. Each patch has one parameter that can be tweaked. I bought it for the reverbs. I use it in the stereo effect loop of my guitar amp. Adjusting the input is easy, there is a signal overload light that goes from green to red when you overload it. You just need to back the input volume down when that happens. The output knob is a little odd as most units do not use one. I happen to back it down alot because if you run it too hot, it will put unwanted noise into your system. I use it for live playing and it works very well. I like to tweak it as I go along. Its easier than bending over and adjusting a small reverb stomp box with those dumb concentric knobs and tiny little writing that I can't see.

Reliability : 9
No reliability issues. I don't anticipate any either. There are no internal batteries as there is no memory. The 9v adapter might eventually burn out, but as of right now, I don't carry a spare. It might be cheaper to buy another entire unit than an extra adapter anyway but I'll cross that bridge if and when the time comes.

Customer Support : 9
Only e-mailed them once and got a prompt response. Their website is excellant. You can download manuals and instructions from the website for free for any units they make, even the discontinued ones.

Overall Rating : 8
I am a guitarist with a wedding/club date band. I bought this unit because I'm a stomp box kind of guy and the spring reverb in my amp died. I hate manuals and hate programing. Frankly, there's nothing worse than spending hours programing and finding out that all your pre-sets suck when you get on a gig. Trust me, the gig is not the time to be screwing around with gear. I like to spend my time playing. This device is simple, sounds good and since it is discontinued you have to buy them used, usually around $50.00. They were around $100.00 when they first came out. Still, thats about $100.00 cheaper than a new Boss stomp box reverb. It has a lot going for it. I wish it had a switch on front to shut the effect off but you can buy an un-latch style footswitch or just turn the mix level off completely. I do recommend this unit. Its clean, musical and professional sounding. Its not a Lexicon but you can buy this toy, sound good, and save your money to buy yet another guitar.

Sound quality is... variable. It's doesn't anything like a spring reverb to my ears, and the abrubt decay is a little jarring. The echo is good, and the various modulation effects aren't bad.

I play a wide variety of styles with a wide variety of guitars. I bought the Nanoverb to add some Leslie type effects for my guitar playing, and to add reverb to a good but reverb-less amp. It's not bad, but it's not as good as other, seperate pedal effects I've tried. If I lost it I think I'd go looking for a real spring reverb. I've already found better modulation effects. At the usual used price it's not a bad deal for someone on a budget.

Well, damn. This little guy decided to join the dreaded "Intermitent Failure" club, which makes me crazy. It worked well a few times, then decided to cut out on me mid-performance. Sure, you can unplug it, utter a few magic words and it'll eventually come back on, but by then you've missed your solo! . . . and your big shot at riches and fame! . . . because Mr. Wilson Pickett just happened to come by the club at that very moment! . . . and, well, you get the idea. (I need to quit watching reruns of the "The Commitments".) Anyway, it's back in it's little box again. Maybe I'll find some other use for it someday. Sigh.

Pretty dang simple dial-and-go set-up for the effects. When your signal is too hot the little light goes from green to red, which is kind of nice. Deduct two points for not being rack-mountable, though.

Sound Quality : 8
I bought it to add a some more reverb/delay options for my rack, but decided to stay with my Quadraverb and ART FXR choices, so it sat for a while. But when I got tired of lugging my Leslie 147 to gigs, I noticed that this NanoVerb had a Rotary Speaker preset, so I gave it a try, and to quote the late, great Gomer Pyle, "Su-prise, su-prise, su-PRISE!" - - it's actually usable under live band conditions. I run my keyboard into it, then stereo output to two opposite-panned channels on the mixer. I own a Hammond A-100 and still have my Leslie, so I was able to do some side-by-sides. Does it pass the blindfold test? Well, no. And I don't think I'd use it to accompany a real good Gospel choir, but in a blues/rock/Motown type setting with my quintet (read: noisy band), it works great, and my back thanks me. I mounted it under the keyboard, so it's a quick left-hand tweak to change speeds. Like other reviewers, I damped down the mix to about 3 o'clock on the dial. One reviewer said it sounded too fast, but actually it's about the same as my 147 on the middle spool. The speed-up and slow-down sounds are pretty close as well. I've listened to some bad Leslie simulators, so I know what bad sounds like as well. Again, not perfect, but if you're a dance band looking for some rotary on your organ patches, it's worth a listen.

Reliability : 10
So far, so good. But I treat my equipment right, as all of us should.

Never interacted. Nice little box, though.

Overall Rating : 10
For the bucks, it's a terrific option for what I'm asking from it. If it was stolen, I might try to get a Digitech XP-200 Modulator for under $75 that actually works for more than 10 minutes (arrggh), but this little guy is a nice solution for the songs that I want to do a passable impression of a Hammond-Leslie set-up. Sure, it would be nice if you could control a bunch of variable on the Leslie effect, but then it would cost 3 or 4 times as much. Keyboardists, give it a try. You just might like it, and if not, just sell it on eBay like everybody else. Price-to-Utility index is very high on this one.

The unit is very easy to use. No manual needed. Just select an effect, turn the adjust and mix knobs until it fits your needs.

Sound Quality : 6
Well... the sounds could be better. I guess the unit was a good deal when it was new but nowadays the reverbs seem a little bit digital. I mean, they don't sound warm and strong enough. The flanger effect is very suitable to enhance synth pad sounds and with the rotary simulation you can get something like outo panning for old synths. But compared to my Behringer Virtualizer it's not that good - but both units have are currently at the same value (used).

Reliability : 9
It doesn't look like a device that fails. Solid metal. It has an external power supply, that will perhaps fail somewhen. Unfortunately it uses AC power, and those supplies are hard to get from cheap manufacturers.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to make use of support but they have all user's manuals online, a fact I often miss from other companies.

Overall Rating : 7
A neat little device that's very handy. I use it for my Roland Juno 106 Synth to enhance the sounds and I like the fact that is so small, so I can put it on top of the synth where it is in easy reach. The features are of course limited but this is great in some way 'cause you don't mess it up while changing parameters live. I wish the sounds would be more warm. Compared to my Behringer Virtualizer, it's a loser, but at the same price. Don't use it for anything where real nice sounds are needed (e.g. vocals). If you can get one at a low price, do so.
I'd perhaps get something else if it got lost but anyway, it helps me making music, every day.

Standard in-out-mix controls. An Fx select & MOST IMPORTANTLY an immediately accessable Fx parameter adjust knob. This is it's improvement over the micro series.

Sound Quality : 3
I'm reading a lot of odd opinions here. Appearently many guitarists are using the device & this could account for it's 'usability' for specific applications. I use many effects in my studio (ie. interactively linking them thru the board for quick multi-effect processes). I needed some simple devices to free up my multi-processors for more critical purposes. I used this in a live sound system & enjoyed the quick tweakability.
Bought 2 on EBay. Racked them up. Pumped rcorded vocals, etc. thru the reverbs. THEY ARE JUNK. If you're using them in ANY type of studio system - the reverbs are useless.
I can still use them for delay based functions (all the other presets) to free up other devices, though.
You're no doubt wondering what I'm comparing this to considering it's low cost. Answer: start with a microverb comparison. Is that too snobby? I use a microverb in my studio.

Reliability : 9
Have used live & at home. No problems. Power supply is tough to replace on one's own.

If you've ever used a stombox than you can master this very quickly and you don't really need a manual. Input volume-Turn and play until the Signal light goes red then back it off a hair. Output volume-Kinda pointless. I found it best to just max it. There's no output volume on a stompbox!?! Mix and Adjust-Pretty self explanetory. Ever heard of rate and depth? Same Thing. Pretty easy to fine tune. I use my mix at about 10 to 11 o'clock and the Adjust at between 10 to 12. I very rarely mess with these regardless of what effect I'm using.

I basically use a Gibson Les Paul Custom into a Marshall Jubilee 50 watt head through a 75 watt Celstion loaded Peavy. No it's not a 5150 just some old, solid, 4/12 Cab. I have an effects loop on the Jube that I, until now, have never used. I run this little beauty through it and I think it's a wonderful thing. There is no drop in volume because I never turn it off. I have though and never experienced a drop. All you fellow purists out there can trust me when I say that this thing is a very acceptable piece of gear. I use it mainly for reverb. I've actually started using the delay as my reverb. It's lovely. The chorus is good if you don't have one on the floor. The Flange is the biggest letdown but then again anything other than the reverbs were a bonus to me because that's why I bought it. There are 12 reverb selections on there and accept for the non-linear, they all seem really usable. A friend of mine with a Fender reverb tank a/b'd them and said it was an extremely close call on wich was the better unit. Well friends, anyone that has priced a Fender reverb tank would be very happy owning this little wonder.

I play in the style of Tom Petty meets AC/DC in the back alley during an S.T.P. show. I can get thick with this if I want. I can get simple reverb if I want. It inspires me and that will tell you if a piece of gear is worth owning or not. I would deffinately by another. At this price I really ought to go and get me two more for the heck of it. I bought this because I didn't want to spend alot of money but I didn't want to buy cheap junk either. I checked the reviews on this, the holy grail by E.H. and Boss' stuff and this was cheaper and I can tell you it is deffinately the best in the stompbox pricerange. I would pay about twice as much for a new one if I had to now that I know what it's all about. Quality gear!

The Reverbs are great, as good as I've heard. Chorus and flange are a bit weak, and the Leslie simulator needs a really wide stereo soundfield before it sounds any good.
Obviously designed for home recording, but works well live. I found that I had to turn the input level WAY down to take the output from my desks fx loop, but what do you want? You can plug a guitar straight into the thing.

This is a very versatile and transparent unit suitable for recording or in a guitar rig. I use one for vocals on the PA and for effects on my digital multitrack and I have another decicated to my guitar rig. Guitarists, listen up: you do not have to settle for a Boss digital reverb, this thing blows it away. This may be the very best guitar reverb out there. It is dead silent, virtualy transparent and won't suck your tone and sounds much warmer than you might think a digital unit could sound. I use this in the loop of my Triple Rectifier, and I set the loop on 100% wet and use the mix control on the NanoVerb...its THAT transparent. I take it out of the loop, and can't tell the difference. I also use a Fulltone ChoralFlante in front of this in the loop...WOW, what a combination. Truly the best of both worlds. Halls and Plated are best for guitar, but all of the effects sound great.

I've had NanoVerb units since they came out many years ago. They stand up to the rigors of the road and can take a beating. Mine isn't even in a rack, its either on my (very hot) amp or on the floor next to my pedals. No problems EVER!

I play all syles of music, and often us plate type reverbs, some halls. I've owned just about every type of gear you could imagine, but nothing ever comes close to this unit as far as truly great reverb for guitar. I love the transparent quality of this unit. My tone comes through 100%, but with the addition of beautiful, prestine reverb and nothing taken away. I use a bypass footswitch with this unit, and I wish there was an LED indicator to tell you when the unit was active or bypassed. Not a big deal, but it would be perfect if it had that.

There are just a few knobs; you don't really need a manual.

Sound Quality : 5
I haven't had noise problems with mine. Two parameter knobs is not enough to get a lot of echo sounds. On reverb, I like the traditional fender three knob setup. The sounds you get are fine, but I prefer the ability to tweak over having presets. I only use the reverb and echo; I find all chorus pedals unlistenable, and the rotary sounds *nothing* like a leslie.

Reliability : 10
Seems solidly built. I've dropped it, etc. No problems.

NA; bought it on ebay.

I'm not going to pose as an expert on effects; the only ones I own are this and a sans amp GT. The reason I'm posting is to point out how versatile this thing is. You get reverb and echo in a small AC powered box. None of my amps (tweed bassman, ampeg V4, and dano nifty 50) have reverb, so it was worthwhile just for that.

But in addition, this thing is great for home PC recording. I have a minimal setup at home; PC with cooledit, stereo, shure SM57, and sansamp, with various radio shack adapter jacks to get the job done. Since this thing has a built in preamp and a pair of inputs and outputs, it serves as a minimalist patch board (ie, send the signal to your sansamp for recording, and guitar amp for monitoring, at the same time) and mike preamp.

It's very easy to get a good sound from the NanoVerb. The manual is good, but not really needed because the unit is so easy to use! If you ever do need the manual, you will be happy to find that it's not too big, but it explains a lot.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this unit mainly with my P.A., practice and gigging, and occasionally for recording. The reverb on it is great. The delay is nice also. The chorus doesn't really sound like chorus, and the flanger is pretty bad... But, I only need it for some reverb on vocals, so it's perfect for me. I'm using this along with a Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro Mixer, Mackie 1400i Power Amp, two Yamaha 115 speakers, and two shure SM58 Beta mics. The quality of the sound is great. When I first got it, I was using cheap cables with it, so there was a fair amount of hiss and hum. Now I use gold tip cables, and there's no hum or hiss at all. The only reason that I'm giving an 8 is because the flanger is so horrible.

Reliability : 10
I have gigged with it many times without a backup. It's great!

I e-mailed them once about rack mounting the nanoverb and they replied pretty quick.

The NanoVerb is one of the best reverb units out, in my opinion. It's also one of the cheapest, which is great. If you're looking for a great reverb or delay unit out, get the NanoVerb. If yu're looking for an all around effects processor, this probably isn't for you. There's one thing that I don't like about the NanoVerb... I wish it came with the rack mounting kit. I don't like that I had to pay extra to get it into my rack. But the NanoVerb itself is so cheap, I can see why Alesis charges extra for it...

Not as easy as a normal stomp box, but not too hard either.
You just tweak your volume knobs right, choose your effect, adjust right mix of wet and dry, and tweak your preset parameter.

Sound Quality : 10
I use my NanoVerb with a Tascam 424MkIII portastudio. It sounds great on delay and especially reverbs. I have tried it through my amp, but I need the optional footswitch for that to really work right. The chorus isn't too impressive compared to my Boss CE-5. The Rotating speaker is pretty good too. The manual says to keep MIX on full for the Leslie, but if you adjust it down, you can control the intensity. (The ADJUST knob selects speed.) If you need reverb for anything, get this.

Metal casing should last. This is a great product, and at $99 dollars you can't beat it.

I play oldies and originals, with the occational modern cover. There is one complaint with this product...theres no power switch. It turns on when you plug it in. I compared it to a Boss Reverb/Delay, and Danelectro Corned Beef Reverb (nasty). This was the obvious choice. the Dan-o sucked and the Boss was $160 for only 2 effects. (the delay was great, but the reverb lacked) This is really good for reverb. Rotary Speaker and delay are good too. Flange and Chorus are best left for stomps to do.

It really does not get any easier: no LED readout, no menus, no user manual the size of the Greater New York phone book. Plug it in and go! If running through a mixer, using the Aux send and returns are highly recommended. The manual is easy to use (as easy to use as the unit itself). The wall wart is a pain, as usual. (When are companies going to do away with those things?)

Sound Quality : 9
I am using the Nanoverb for vocals mainly, but occassionally keyboard and bass. The real quality of the unit is the reverb (NanoVERB, get it?). The hall, plate and room sounds are wonderful, and the adjust knob allows you to change the effect drastically. The reverbs are lush and sweet. For the price, there is no excuse not to have a reverb unit anymore. The chorus is OK, but the flanger is definitely nothing to write home about. If you have your heart set on a good flanger, look elsewhere. Nevertheless, the reverbs are so good, I can't fault the unit. Maybe they should have just left off the flange and put another room or chorus sound on.

Reliability : 10
It's a sturdy little metal box. It should hold up about as well as any stomp box.

If you want a reverb unit, not a multi-effect processor, but just a good reverb unit... You can't go wrong with this. Many of the other reviewers attest to the same, but I just had to add my 2 cents. I use this unit primarily for practice and live. Nevertheless, the reverbs are highly adjustable, and fit for classical, jazz, and rock. Again, for the price, there is no need to complain that you can't afford a reverb unit. With only four knobs to choose from, you won't spend hours adjusting paramaters. You'll just tweek and play.

I use this with a Tascam 424 MKII 4-track as an effects loop. I like it so much that I bought another one. I haven't used the flanger or non-linear stuff at all, but I am very happy with the reverbs, esecially the hall and plate reverbs. I put "Hall 3" on the digital piano and "Hall 1" on the vocals. I use the second processor to put delay on the guitar or chorus on the backup vocals. I am impressed by how quiet this thing is. I produce a solo artist who sings and plays the guitar or piano and am quite happy with the results.

Soundwise, the NanoVerb is a champ. I tend to muck around with settings when I'm using it (usually running the guitar and vocals through the mixer into the NanoVerb and back out to the MD), so I get some weird feedback loops. The rooms and halls sound wonderful. My one beef is I'd like the chorus to be a bit stronger.

How could this unit get less than 10 for ease of use???? There is nothing to it- simply plug it in, select one of the 16 preset effects, set your input, mix and output levels and you're away!!!! You can't edit and store patches but you have one parameter which can be adjusted for each effect. The manual (like all Alesis manuals) is simply excellent!

Sound Quality : 10
I use this through the effects loop of my Soundcraft Spirit Folio mixer, mainly for live stuff but I've also used it in my home studio. It is a very quiet unit for the price and it compared very favourably to my much more expensive Midiverb 4. The reverbs are excellent for the price, I particularly like the plates. The leslie speaker effect is also quite good (I often run my old Korg DW8000 organ patches through this!). The chorus sound nice also, but I don't think much of the flanger preset. The delay is very handy even though it's only mono. You can get over a second of delay out of it but I mainly have used this for slapback echo in a live situation. I like the 2 multi-effects programs also- nice on keyboards. I give it full marks because of the high quality you get for the cheap price!

I'm a music teacher (I teach both Piano and Organ) and also own my own home studio. I have been playing for 20 years. I own alot of Korg and Roland stuff and the mega cool Yamaha O3D mixer. I love the imediacy and simplicity of the unit. I wish it had a couple of stereo delays and at least a couple of more parameters to adjust (but I suppose you can go up the next step and get something like an Alesis Microverb 4 for that). I don't like it's external power supply, but I won't complain too much (just this once!) because it really is such a small unit!!!! I was not initially planning on buying this unit but I got a great deal on both this and a Nanocompressor and bought both at the same time! It does inspire me with my music and I love it's ease of use. I hope Alesis release a few more 'nano' units like a Nanogate, NanoEq (just 2 suggestions!). I highly recommend this unit to anyone whether they are just looking for their 1st effects unit or for someone who needs a high quality effects processor that they can put easily in the gig bag.

Very easy to use; all the programs are straighforward, not too many controls to fiddle with(a plus on stage) The sounds are almost all prime quality effects. I hardly ever used the user's manual, except to figure out the adjustable parameters, but the manual is also very easy to use.

Sound Quality : 10
I use an acoustic violin with a single piezo pickup; if that can't milk noise out if a processor, nothing will. It's much quieter than any pedals i've used. The chorus is a bit loud, but only with the balance turned full wet, and the depth up 100%, neither of which i would ever need anyway. All of the reverb settings are great, I use mostly hall 2 and the plates, they sound excellent. It also boosts my level up, which helps when playing behind a lead keyboard, two electric guitars, bass, and a full brass section. I haven't been in need of any other effects since I got the nanoverb(although a wah would be nice...) I personally get a lot of play out of the delay, with a very short setting; gives a good depth to an otherwise dry signal, and sounds awesome on fast fiddling sections. I fell in love with the plate effects on slower, darker tunes.

Reliability : 10
I've had it for over a year, not alot of traveling, but quite extensive use, and it's still in mint condition. I did almost lose the cap off of one of the knobs, but a little touch of superglue remedied that; otherwise there were no problems, and i don't forsee any

I play everything from hymns to rock and country, and it's always been there for me. I don't use any other effects; haven't needed any. I've had it for about a year now, and I use it with a preamp, and not much else. It would be hard to replace with something else for the price and quality, so I'd probably get another nanoverb. There's really nothing not to like on it, as far as i'm concerned. Ever since I got it, I haven't played through a dry signal on one song yet. I might get another one to piggyback on the one i have and maybe overlap effects, like the delay with some plate reverb, or delay on chorus.

I used to think it had a great rotary sound, but it's not all that great. Delay is simple to setup and is very digital sounding so you have to dry it out some.
I only use it for weird delay effects in my effects loop, which is parallel, after I use it I turn a knob on my amp and bring it out of the amp. For the dough it's still a great unit.

Reliability : 8
I ran it thru the preamp out on a Blues Deluxe and almost fried it.
Apparently the preamp out on the Blues is pretty hot, 4Dbv? Anyway, even with the input turned down the unit really pissed and wailed.
Still worked tho....

I sent a drum machine to them for warranty work, they did a hell of a job. I had to pester them for a month because the repair center had to order some IC's from the factory. They probably spent more time and money hosing this thing than it's worth. I still don't believe they "fixed" it and just didn't send me a new one. (It was displaying strange characters on the LCD). Really screwed up stuff. But they fixed it for free, well I had to pay shipping one way.

Overall Rating : 10
It's simple and I use it quite a bit. It does the delay and rotary better than anything in it's price range. I have more expensive rack gear, but this one is the workhorse, it's easy to dail in, no presets, and gets a good sound. Also will do stereo.

Very, very simple. Input/output knobs to hone the instrument/effects volumes just so, and a mix knob to adjust between the two. Switching between effects is very simple-just dial it in. The parameter of each individual effect is controlled by the adjust knob. Overall, you get to feel like you're doing analog, which I love! Granted, no effects mixing or saved patches, but hey...knobs! Come on!

Sound Quality : 8
I'd like to say that there is VERY little noise coming out of this unit, it sounds great. Its' best effects are better than most full-blown rackmounts I've heard, and damn near as good as the best, although not all the effects are good.
The halls effects are EXCELLENT. All three of them are distinctively different and poweful, and VERY adjustable. Sampled drums sound real through these. I've used drum machines and the kit on Roland's D-10 keyboard through this thing-all of 'em sound great.
Same for the three rooms effects-very nice. EXCELLENT for piano, by the way!
I didn't get much use out of the plates; they're nice and probably excellent for guitar, but I couldn't really find a use for them.
Non linear is terriffic, especially for vocals and stop-start atmospherics. A great implementation of this effect!
Chorus is ok...perfectly acceptable as a good generic chorus.
The flanger sucks ass. Thin and bland.
The delay is good-don't expect incredible amounts of delay time, but it's extremely accurate.
Both of the chorus/room effects are good-with some tweaking, the second one can be turned into a stranger-sounding delay if the other one doesn't suit your needs!
The rotary just sucks. VERY weak, VERY useless.

Reliability : 8
Perfect for gigging and home recording, no question. It's made of metal and durable enough to withstand years of lugging around and playing, so long as it doesn't come into contact with any malicious abuse, LOL!
But for studio use, you'd probably want a full-blown rackmount...the effects are top-notch quality, but they simply don't offer enough options for what studio production/recording require.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I can't say; I've never dealt with Alesis. I've heard both horror stories and fairy tales about their customer service, so it's hard even to judge by other people's experiences!

Overall Rating : 9
Great little tool, this. I don't even want to see a rackmount outside of a studio...but I don't really care for stompboxes either, so this black box is a blessing. Vocals and keyboards sound great through it, although I wouldn't recommend using it with a bass without a compressor. It usually sounds fine with an instrument plugged right into it...but if you plug it into an effects loop, you can't go wrong!
If Alesis released another version of this model without the flange, rotary, and plates effects, with an on/off switch, and was about $30 cheaper...it really WOULD be perfect for me!

Easy to use. All of the patches are preset with only one "tweak" knob so you can't really screw up.

Sound Quality : 6
I am a solo-hungry fretless bassist and wanted something to "dress up" my solos. I really wanted to use the "chorus + reverb" settings but so far have had a tough time getting a nice sound. The single "tweak" knob modifies both effects, and it seems that in order to get a lush chorus, I get way too much reverb. Running the single effects, though, allows decent adjustability and some nice tones.

I use mostly Evh Wolfgang guitars /w a Crate Gx1200H and Tube Works Tube Driver amps, /w TONS of effects. This unit seems to even things out really well, and give desirable reverbs. It can go from regular reverbs, to insanily spacious reverbs in a second. This unit is also most important because it creates your own original tone. It is an excelent tone shaper and for the cost, it couldnt be any better. My favorite artist are Joe satriani and Neil Zaza...this reverb can do their sound justice and any1 else as well. Relatively easy to use. The only critical settings are the INPUT and OUTPUT level controls... you don't want the incoming signal to overload the input or too hot a signal going out, which may cause unwanted distortion. The manual goes over this fairly well.
Since I am connecting this unit to the aux send/return on my mixer, I just turn the MIX control all the way up and set the overall level at the board. The ADJUST knob sets various parameters for each effect. The only other thing to do is decide which effect you want: several reverb and chorus choices, plus a couple of delays and flanges.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this unit strictly for adding reverb to my portable sound system and since reverb is less critical for live sound, I am happy with the overall affect it has on the types of places I play. On the other hand, in my opinion, it's too digital sounding for use in the studio. In a recording situation, the reflections are just not natural enough for me. But, (the point I was getting to) in live situations where the sound is saturated by the environment and audience, plus the addition of natural room reverberation, nobody's going to be able to tell the difference anyway. I find the fidelity of the sound to be very satisfactory.
As for the remaining effects, you'll have to read some of the other reviews here. I haven't really used anything but the reverbs and have never used it as an in-line device (such as for guitar) so I can't say how well it works for those situations. Personally, I like the HALL REVERB #1 set to a medium long decay (about ? on the ADJUST control). At this setting, the reverb adds enough lush ambience to be fulfilling for my tastes in live performance.
I consider its sound to be at the professional level. As for the 8 rating in this category, keep in mind that, though true excellence is somewhat eluded, for all around capability it works well.

For what I use it for, I think the Nanoverb is a great product. I originally got it because I didn't have another rack space left on my rig, and it's big enough as it is, so I got some Velcro and stuck the Nanoverb in the back. Of course, you get what you pay for, but at the price they are going for now (under $100 last time I checked) the Nanoverb has found its niche and I've heard worse effects at higher prices.
Oh Yeah, I like the idea that it has a bypass feature (external footswitch not included) which is good for certain situations, such as speaking to the audience, were effects may make speech sound garbled and unintelligible. I may get another one just for adding delay to vocals or flange to instruments, etc.
If you are in a serious working band, or are trying to make professional recordings, you can absolutely do much better. But I suspect this product is designed for the average Joe sixpack AND WE DON'T MUCH CARE FOR THEM SNOOTY HIGH-END STUDIO TYPES ANYWAY! (But we'll take their cool studio toys anytime!)... Jamm on.

It is a pretty straight forward echo, delay reverb unit. It also has chorus, flange and rotary. The manual describes how to use it but you could probably figure it out on your own. There are differnt settings one dial knob controls for, 2 room and chorus, 1 rotary, 3 rooms, 3 plates, 3 halls, 1 linear?, 1 flange, 1 delay. There is a mix knob and another knob that tweaks what ever sound you are selected under. For example this knob would change the length of your delay if you had the delay selected. It also increases the rate of the rotary, flange and chorus swirl as you turn it clockwise. It also has input and output which have caused some people confusion trying to get the volumes all level. It is a bit hard to describe but i find that having two knobs one for input volume and one for output volume gives me more control. I don't mind it. I actually like it. Read someone else's review at this site on how it is a pain have these controls to decide for yourself.

Sound Quality : 7
For the price you can't beat it. Great sound. I have a dod stereo chorus I haven't used in six months as long as I have had the nanoverb. Great variety. It does lack in the control area. I wish you could tweak the sound a bit more but that's ok. The reverbs sound like ass the further you turn the one control knob clockwise. That is what I like though. Very bizzar sound. If you want full control of reverb go out and buy a twin reverb amp and some rack reverb unit. For bizzar sounds, good quality reverb and chorus and moderate flange go out and get one on sale. One of the guitarists of my favorite band, Purple Ivy Shadows, uses one. I love this unit I just wish I had more control with the sounds but then again you get more than you pay for with this unit. For more control go out and buy a full sized rack unit.

Actually, I don't use this for guitar, but for my vocals when i use the 4-track (Tascam 424 mkII). I set it up in line with my mic, so it goes shure sm58->nanoverb->Peavey mixer->4 track. It is not noisy. The effects I use most often are chorus with reverb, hall reverb, and chorus, and sometimes the rotary speaker. they all sound pretty good for a $120 unit, the delay and flanger suck a fat nut.

This thing is a piece of cake to use. There are four knobs on the front: Input, Output, Mix, Adjust, and the effects selector. Almost straight out of the box it is very easy to get a nice sound. Editing is limited to just the four knobs, but for a secondary effects processor it works really well. In fact, with the delay turned up a hair, and the output and mix maxxed, it will give vocal tracks an ersatz doubling effect that is quite useful.

The 2's and 3's [meaning Hall 2 & 3, Room 2 & 3, Plate 2 & 3) are a little over the top for my tastes but the 1's are terrific. Forget the phaser. It is useless. On the other hand, routing an Alesis DM5 drum module through Room/Chorus adds pleasant depth to the otherwise dry sounds. The effects are basically transparent in terms of background noise. It is primarily used with the DM5 and routed into a Peavey Unity 1002 mixing console. In that setting, it's terrific. For guitar, it's more than acceptable, but there are better choices from the likes of DOD or Boss.

Reliability : 10
So far it's been bulletproof. There's not a whole heckuva lot that can go wrong with it. Sometimes simplicity is the best model and that is fer sure the case with live-gigging equipment.

Overall Rating : 9
The realities are, unless you are a dedicated audiophile, this unit will be terrific. It is just fine for virtually ANY style of music and I intend to buy probably three more, at least, because the quality of the unit vs. the price is unbeatable. Obviously it lacks the programming abilities of pricier models, but that's an acceptable compromise for the price. Its simplicity is endearing and a boon for stage performance when change-on-the-fly is de rigeur. As a whole, it's a great unit, minus points for the lousy phaser.

The controls are kind of annoying because it has input and output level controls that you have to set and balance when you start out. Theres a green signal light that turns red when it gets overloaded. You set the input control so the light stays green when you play hard then use the output to set actual volume. Other than that i just wish it had two parameters per effect instead of one.

Sound Quality : 9
I like the way it sounds. The chorus is pretty good. I like the flange sound because its sounds wierd and you can stop the sweep completely by turning down the speed all the way but it does thin your sound and the volume swells suddenly at the end of each sweep. The reverb sounds very nice particularly plate reverb 2 it has a deep sound like an ocean

Reliability : 7
it seems fairly sturdy but it is rackmount and probably would get damaged if you really abused it but it is metal not plastic. Also you do need a footswitch to turn it on and off and it could be scary at a gig if you forgot to leave it "on" and didin't have the footswitch

generally im happy with it. its great for creating smooth waves of seashell hissing tonality with reverb levels set high. I also like all the extra bells and whistles like delay, rotating speaker, flanging, and the chorus/reverb combinations. i think i got a really good price so if you can get it for that you definately should

My first non Guitar effect unit. it has 5 knobs, stereo ins, stereo outs, and a footswitch plug. The footswitch doesnt come with it so you gotta make one yourself or (ugh) buy one. the knobs are: Input volume, Mix level, Output Volume, Effect selector and Effect adjust Nothing can be easier than this unit and I say this since there is only 2 knobs to control effect. select your effect, and adjust its parameter.. leave the volume and mix about half way, and you're ready to go. The manual is short and sweet, even giving background information on some of the effects (leslie, Non linear) Oh.. forgot to mention.. the signal LED is also an overload LED..nice to know when your recording is about sound like eggs cracking..

Sound Quality : 10
Using this with my guitar and home recording setup. through a behringer mixer, sometimes plugged into my guitar amp. Reverbs are very good, and because there are plenty to choose from (10), any sound is possible.. just dont put too much reverb on anything. Chorus: My first experience with chorus, having had a flanger up to now.. very nice, makes the sound shimmer with a nice tone.. AND its stereo. Stereo flanger CAN be useful despite things said in other reviews.. since its stereo you can use it for weird effects on songs .True, its not a boss flanger (which I also have) and it does sound like a jetplane overdubbed onto your sound.. Stereo Leslie: rotating speaker effect.. somethings wrong with mine I think as there are only 2 speed settings 6-12 oclock is Slow, after that its FASSSTTT .. shouldnt it be gradual?? but it is awsome on guitar sounds. 2 multieffects (Chorus/reverb) and (chorus/reverb/delay) . Very nice.. I havent found use for it though.
The unit is digital, its completely (COMPLETELY) noise free, and sounds great. just make sure to get your mixer volume levels set correctly in conjuction with the Nanoverb's I dont know if delay/reverb tails last when switched off cuz.. I dont have a footswitch...

Reliability : 10
Its small, its metal, except the plastic plugs.. but Im not worried.. kinda scared to go gigging with it since I dont know how it would hold up. hasent given me any trouble .

Customer Support : No Opinion
I dont know about support since I have no reason to call Alesis anyway...

Overall Rating : 10
Its great for any music. Makes every recording sweet and tasteful. It made my keyboard drums sound like real drums, it made my guitar sound fatter. it works magic on vocals. Its small, doesnt take up alot of space, its cheaper than the competition, its better than guitar effect units.. in short: Get it if you home record. if you're in a professional studio you might like an Alesis Wedge but .. hey.. I dont have 500$ spare change...

Since this is a no-frills reverb unit it's very easy to use. A rotary dial lets you select your effect, and the other dials control the depth and length of the reverbs. However, this has the downside that you can't store favourite settings. (OK, so not much of a downside to someone with more memory than a goldfish, but I'm trying to be objective

Sound Quality : 9
I find it noisier than I'd hoped when you run, say, a mic into it and then into your mixer. However, if you send a % of the signal to the unit from your mixer and then blend the reverb back in it eliminates the noise. Reverb quality is excellent: it genuinely sounds as if you are in a 'live' situation rather than adding in atmosphere. The settings on standard guitar FX sound heavy handed in comparison. Vocals, drums, guitars (even a harp) all sound ace. Stereo chorus good: only the Flange is piss-poor: sounds like you're just dubbing aircraft noises on.

Reliability : 10
9 months old and not even a sneeze. Studio rather than gigging unit but still sturdy and (probably) droppable.

Dunno (see above) The manual is pleasingly informative and their web-site is OK so one can assume ....

Overall Rating : 10
Perfect for adding ambience when DIing, making your vocals more 'professional' and extending your sonic palate. Has the same insides as pricier Alesis boxes so sound is excellent VFM. No On/Off switch, unispired design and a bit noisy but at this price one wouldn't like to be churlish. (I use an SM58 mic, Sansamp GT2 pedal and Fender guitar.) (And harp from Pilgrim Harps, Surrey, UK.) (And hair by Geraldo, Kings Road. Clothes from Oxfam, nationwide.)

Very easy to change sounds/get the sound you want. All the sounds are great! Manual is good.

No noticable noise accept on the Delay (Echo) and the Fanger. It's very quite though, almost not noticable, especailly when there is a signal coming through. The quality of all the effects is great!

Got it yesterday, haven't had any problems yet.......

Haven't had to use, I've heard Alesis are okay though.

I bought this because it was cheap especially for quality and range of effects. I bought it to use in my studio(under construction) and with my guitar. I therefor wanted a good sounding unit that had the effects I wanted and would be easy to use live with a guitar amp and easy to transport. When I have the money and the need I'll by a midi effects unit for studio and eventually a rack setup for guitar. I'll keep the Nanoverb especailly for live use with a giutar combo/head but I wouldn'y buy one again because I don't need another one.

This is a preset-only model so it's ready to go out of the box. There is only one parameter you can adjust for each preset and what that parameter is depends on the type of effect you are using (eg reverb decay, delay time, leslie fast/slow). There is no MIDI and no way to store your own presets, but that's OK considering what this box was designed to do--give musicians access to high quality reverb at a rock bottom price.

Sound Quality : 8
The reverbs are probably the best sounding effects and they are all very very good for something this inexpensive. Very low noise. In fact, it sounds better than my old Quadraverb. I was a little bit hesitant buying the Nanoverb precisely because it is so cheap. However, the reverbs use the same algorithms as Alesis' top-of-the-line Quadraverb 2; they've just left out all the extensive editing and MIDI features. You probably won't see any Nanoverbs in pro-studio racks, but for home recording types--even those with ADATs and other digital gear--the Nanoverb provides quality reverb sounds. The other effects aren't quite as good but the chorus, leslie, and delays are all useable. The flanger, however, is worthless.

Reliability : 10
I've bought A LOT of Alesis gear over the years and never once had trouble with any of it.

Customer Support : 7
Alesis is not easy to get in touch with--their phone lines are busy a lot. However, once you do get through to them they are pretty helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
I would definately buy it again. In fact, I'm thinking of buying 2 more (3 Nanoverbs fit in a single rack space). The Nanoverb is truly a winner as far as providing maximum bang for the buck!

Very easy, only a couple knobs.

Sound Quality : 9
Sounds good if you dont try to over-do it... You can get a good generic mild reverb quite easily. We run the entire mix through this on mix-down. All the "1's" are good. The HALL1 program, ROOM1, and PLATE1... The other ones are kinda nasty. Keep the mix knob at about 10 o'clock and the Adjust knob at 12 o'clock and things will stay under control. Sounds good, but not much flexibility.

Overall Rating : 6
Good for what it can do, but not programmable, not flexible. If you are happy with the programs it has, then it will work for you... It's definately a better buy than a guitar reverb pedal, which was my original idea for home-studio reverb unit, becasue the nanoverb is stereo. I'm not sure I'd buy another, but I'm reasonably happy with it.

Way easy.

For what it is I think it sounds awesome. These reverbs blow away most reverbs I have heard in guitar multieffect units. I would have prefered the depth of the flange to be shallower (I use a lot of bass in my tone and it just bottoms out too much for me if I slow down the rate). But I have a Boss flanger and the Alesis flange might work okay on my keyboards. I loved all the other presets (chorus, delay, rotating speaker). The unit is really quiet.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had it long. I got it used through the net and it survived UPS. I have heard some scary things about Alesis's quality so I am crossing my fingers. But I haven't heard any major complaints about the Nanoverb.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I hope I never have to have an opinion on this.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this thing! It is perfect for me. The effects are totally useable and I am glad I don't have to mess with a bunch of parameters that give me a billion combinations. It compliments my set up perfectly. I use it with a Boss Metal Zone, flanger, and delay. I wanted a chorus and reverb to round out what I consider essential effects for me. This has a separate chorus and 10 reverbs plus 2 settings that have both. Plus all the effects are stereo. I can go from my Boss delay that has stereo outs for ping-pong delay into the stereo inputs of the Nanoverb. I didn't think I would have so much fun playing with this thing but it just adds so much to my guitar setup. The chorus and reverbs make my distortion sing and the rotating speaker is cool. I don't know how authentic the rotating speaker is but it is a complete bonus in a unit for this price. By the way, the manual says to set the mix knob to be all effect for the rotating speaker but I like it rolled back to about ten o'clock. There seems to be a sweet spot there that sounds cool but not too drastic. Reminds me of Hendrix on Little Wing. I will probably get another Nanoverb for my home studio setup as well.

Extremely easy to use, 16 rotary preset programmes with input, output, mix and adjust pots. The adjust pot is the good bit !, providing one parameter adjust on each preset. The front panel also has two leds, one for power, the other showing clipping distortion. The back panel has stereo inputs / outputs and the left channel input doubles as mono in. There is also a bypass footswitch connector, a must for killing the effect, as there's no on or bypass switch. (Bad point- why dont they provide an on switch!). The manual explains everything and tells you which parameter the adjust knob effects. The whole thing is powered by a 9 volt wall wart.

Sound Quality : 9
The unit is very quiet and since there are only sixteen effects, well heres the lowdown. Hall 1 - Bright reflections Hall 2 - Warmer hall with decay set to max for good results Hall 3 - Medium hall with 12ms delay before reverb starts Room 1 - Hardwood studio with early reflections Room 2 - Good for Antispetic synth sounds Room 3 - Warm studio, great on acoustic gutiars Plate verb 1 - Classic bright vocal plate Plate verb 2 - Sustain for guitars Plate verb 3 - Vintage tube plate, snappy Non linear - Brilliant for snares Chorus - Well its better than my Boss - its should be its stereo! Flanger - Same again! Rotary - Dont use it - or havent found a use for it yet Chorus/room 1 - Multieffect with reverb decay adjust (nice) Chorus/room 2 - Multieffect with delay adjust Delay - Very clean with upto 1270ms delay time
The quality of the effects are, well better than my Zoom 3030 by a long way.

Reliability : 8
As I only use in a bedroom studio its hard to say if it will stand up to gig work. The knobs dont look that strong and if all the leads are in, it needs bolting in a rack as its a bit light.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Its only been on for about 50 hours so I havent had to ring customer support yet, hope they are better than Roland.

Overall Rating : 8
All in all, a good medium priced unit, however with a little more though i'd be better off buying a used midiverb.
