Ease of Use : 8
Installed it on an Ibanez RG1570GN, its an edge pro bridge so i had to buy the small clamp model. If you have any questions to which clamp you might need just go to the tremol-no website and theres a diagram there for you. It took roughly half an hour to set it up .When i got it going my RG started changing from Standard to dropped D tunings when I felt like it. Before i bought it i read online about people saying just to block the trem, but i still wanted to have the ability to float if i wanted it to pull on it.

Sound Quality : 8
I have added sustain as far as having it in dive only and hard tail mode. When the trem is floating it sounds like it did when it wasn't there in the first place.

Reliability : 9
I've had it for a week now and so far so good. I'm planning on adding one of these to each floyd style bridge in my collection. love the fact that if a string breaks the others don't!

Customer Support : 10
When first installing it I broke the clamp screw, NOT because its cheap that was my own fault. So i emailed tremol-no and all parts and to my surprise both sent me a replacement screw free of charge. I really didn't expect it, i figured i would've been thrown to the wayside but i was able to get the system fully installed and its wonderful.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm playing usually alternative to hard rock, so i'm flip flopping tunings alot. And before my RG was stuck on Standard tuning only mode. With the tremol-no i'm tuning it down to whatever i feel like at the time. Pretty cool things since now i don't have to think twice about buying a trem equipped guitar. Reliability , tunings and its kinda cool to have the benefit of stability of a hard tail and if the string breaks unwinding it and retuning of a floyd rose! saves money! in the long run.

I installed the Tremol-no on an Ibanez edge pro bridge. The installation is pretty straight forward if you read the manual. Although, it strangely leaves out any mention of the deep c and its installation. But if you have a head on your shoulders you can figure it out, or just watch the videos online. It took a good half an hour for me to set this up, because I wanted to make sure that it was done right. After it was all set up, I checked the tunning, then locked everything down. Right away i noticed a difference in the string tension, and the actual sound of the guitar. It actually did feel a little similar to a string thru type style of bridge. It went out of tune a few times when I first installed and played for a bit (gave it a beating). But as everything settled this became rock solid.

Sound Quality : 8
This isn't really made to alter your sound but to help manage your tremolo system. But, being that you are adding mass and that mass is directly attached to where sustain and string tension disapear in most cases (i.e. the springs, especially on floating tremolos) there is a gain in the sustain/tension department. With a less shock absorbing material than the springs are transferring the string vibration to the wood of the guitar, you can feel a difference in the sound and not just hear it. Im giving it an 8. It's not the main function of the Tremol-no, nor is it a colossal improvement. But it is great!

Reliability : 8
Gigged with it once, and about to go into the studio with it. So... reliability? I'm not sure. But after checking out who uses it; Rusty Cooley, Dino, Rob Balducci. I figured it must be reliable to a point. And its made of air craft grade aluminum and surgical grade stainless steal so thats good. Giving it an 8 again just cause i haven't tested that much yet.

Customer Support : 10
Haven't dealt with kev personally, but from everyone that I know that has says he is 100% behind his product and they've never had a problem.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this thing. I play every style of music that I can get my hands on and this thing is great for everything. Not the biggest whammy bar guy in the world, I am more of a fan for the precise tuning that is capable with a floyd rose styled bridge. This thing allows me to use my whammy bar when want to with just a twist of a knob, but most of the time when I dont want to the entire thing locks down, and if I break a string (only 4 in the last 6 years of constant playing, shows, practice, drunkin battles with my guitar, etc etc etc) while its locked down the rest wont go out of tune!!! Which is a biggie for floating tremolo people. Just wish it wasn't $65.00 a pop.

Installation on my Variax 700 was fairly simple. A couple of steps can be a little fiddly/annoying but nothing major at all. Generally simple to install and to use. The crucial "alignment" phase was a bit hard to do only because it felt pretty good to me no matter what I did. I never got to a point where I really felt it binding, but yet I was always questioning whether or not I could hear it binding if I listened real hard. I guess I just kept second guessing myself because they emphasized how crucial this part was, and yet it seemed pretty easy for me.

They also include some spacers in case the tremel-no support hits the bottom of your trem cavity while diving. I also had a hard time determining whether or not it was rubbing, so I just used the smaller spacer to be safe and it seemed to work well.

So far I'm digging it. I'm not sure if it's all that much better than just slamming the bridge up against the body, but it does offer some benefits. For example, With the bridge against the body, bending a string can still pull enough to detune the other strings very slightly. If you crank up the tension enough to really eliminate this, then the bar becomes so stiff that it's unpleasant to use.

With the tremol-no I can easily go from fully locked (pretty much a hard tail) to floating trem. I decided to put 4 springs on mine since more springs tends to help counteract the bending/detuning effect. However with 4 springs on, the tension was such that I didn't have room to install the "Deep-C" which allows you to go into dive only mode. Not a big deal since I really saw no need for it. I have locked and floating. There's no real reason for dive only unless you want to physically detune some strings for an alternate tuning and still be able to dive trem. I have my alternate tunings saved via workbench. And if I really wanted to detune, I could lock it down. So all I'm really missing is the ability to physically detune and still trem down.

Sound Quality : 10
Did not adversely affect the guitar in any way and many claim that when it's locked, you get more sustain and better tone. I haven't tested this myself.

Reliability : No Opinion
Seems sturdy and rugged. Only time will tell on this one, but I have no reservations at this point.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them but read a lot of good things about them. The instructions seem to indicate that it comes with a "ring terminal" to crimp onto your ground wire and easily attach it wo the ground screw on the claw but mine did not come with such a ring. No big deal since the variax has no traditional pickups and no ground wire on the claw.

Overall Rating : 8
Seems to do what it claims and does it well. Price seems a bit steep to me. You could just crank your bridge down against your body and you wouldn't be missing a whole lot (depending on your playing style and trem usage) but overall I'm pleased. IF the price were lower I would definitely give it a higher rating.

This is my first Tremol-No installation. I read the instructions and then I went online to watch the demo install video (EXTREMELY helpful and I suggest this to ANYONE who wants to install one). I had very little problems while installing, probably since there are quite a few tips on the demo install video. Overall pretty easy to install. I put it on a Jackson Pro Dinky Reverse with a licensed Floyd trem on it. Hardest part was desoldering the ground wire. Actually using the product once installed is a piece of cake.

Sound Quality : 10
You can notice a lot more sustain in either dive only mode ("Deep C" mode) or when fully locked. Website claims there is a tonal difference, but I don't hear it. Amazing product which totally delivers. I wanted a blocked Floyd so I could palm mute more aggressively and also do double stops without intonation problems.

Reliability : 10
If you watch the video on the website, you'll understand that you can't overtighten the end block with the pin on it or you'll snap it off. I think alot of people who have written a bad review with this in mind probably overtightened it and broke it. ALSO, do NOT attempt to use the trem bar if you've fully locked down the unit. You'll probably break something. It seems like a solid product to me, and they even give you some extra thumb screws for the future.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Didn't have to deal with them, but I'm sure they are excellent.

Overall, this is a MUST have for floyd users. I ordered two units, and will install the second one on my Floyd equipped carvin DC135. I will order another unit for my Schecter Hellraiser C-1 FR. One reviewer said these should be standard issue with Floyd's and I must say I agree. Very few people seem to pull up on their bars. Also, I would like to respond to a earlier reviewer who said he didn't like the fact when in dive only mode he lost the "flutter" of the floyd. In order to flutter, you need your trem floating. The beauty of this unit is that you really can almost change from hardtail to dive only to full floating almost "on the fly." This is such a needed device, I highly recommed to anyone who has a floating trem, especially floyd rose. I no longer fear changing tunings on my Floyd!!! This, my friends, is well worth the price of the unit.

Ok, well this is yet another install! The other two were on Music Man John Petrucci models. This one was installed on an Early model Ibanez Jem with the Edge Pro Trem.

This model is slightly different. It's a prototype leftover from initial testing. Rather than the 'pin' being place in the trem block, this one actually clamps down or replaces the 'spring retention clamp' that comes on the Edge Pro Trems. Very nice. See below for more details on this style I installed.

Absolutely painless to install.

Sound Quality : 9
I seem to notice a bit more sustain on this particular model. More than likely because there is more mass in the cavity?

However it doesn't impact any sound or tone quality. It will simply add more sustain.

Reliability : 9
No issues with my other Tremol No's.

This one looks just as robust if not more so.

I have no complaints. Once it's installed you pretty much forget about it other than changing your bridge 'type'. ( i.e drop only, to floating, to complete block )

Wicked cool. I'm still somewhat blown away by this product? ;)

Customer Support : 9
Excellent. Great communication. See my other reviews.

This particular install I screwed up. Not sure how, but I did.

I contacted the folks at Tremol No and told them about my situation.

Keven was kind enough to hook me up with a custom tailpiece leftover from initial tests. This is a prototype. While the other styles work well, this one fit perfectly on my Jem. ( I bought another Tremol No asap like this one to go on my other Jem. )

If you have any problems I honestly feel that there is someone there to help. ( my first purchase, first install I was having an issue and I believe that evening, I had support!) I can't remember the details, but just remember not having to wait long at all for a response AND resolution. The issue was operator error FYI.

Probably why I bought a few more. A quality product is important to me but so is support.

Overall Rating : 9
I have installed four Tremol No's.

I would say that speaks volumes!

Great job, great product. Painless install.

I think that in time, this product will only get better. I hope they release this type of tailpiece on future models.

Again, I own several Tremol No's and as I write have another one being shipped to me.

Just installed my second tremol no on a Music Man John Petrucci 7.

15 minutes, up and running.

My first install took a bit longer, you can see my review below.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
No issues here. No impact on tone.

Reliability : 10
See my last review...still going. Again, when setup properly, it's very robust and you don't know it's there!
As far as the thumbscrews, honestly, sure you could lose one I suppose but as far as the tremol no unit itself. NO issues.

I love it.

No support needed on this install.

I own a second one now.

Will probably buy another one. I have several more trem's to go!

I really think it's a great product.

I simply don't see any major issues. Ok, maybe a lock nut on the thumbscrews so they can't accidently come off?? ( minor issue )

When working with tiny parts, use common sense?

I'm sorry to say I had a nightmare installation experience. The pin of Tremol-no broke off while attempting to install..and that piece
won't come out of my PRS trem block. I guess I have to go see a machine shop specialist who hopefully can remove it.

Not in my case!

I don't think they will be able to fix this one...I'm going to send the unit back and will ask for a refund -and will probably get my money returned, but my trem block won't ever be original again! GDMN!!

It maybe a fine product and maybe I got unlucky, but this shouldn't be happening. The Hipshot Trem-Setter has a hook that can be bent several times and won't ever brake...maybe the Tremol-no pin should be made of similar material?

This product, once installed, is very intuitive and very easy to use. There are three thumb screws that you just have to tighten or loosen - two to block the trem, and one to set it in Dive-only mode. Nothing too difficult. The thumb screws do not have to be clamped down very hard, so it is usually just a twist one way or the other.
The reason I am giving this a "8" is because my installation was a little tricky. The tremol-no is designed to fit claws that have a 35 mm space between screws. I didn't see this posted anywhere on their website (which is the only sort of instructions this product has). It is also, admittedly, something I did not think to check. So when I took out the claw on my Dean ML, I was a little surprised that the Dean had a screw spacing of about 32 mm. I contacted their customer service (more about this below), and they suggested that I either
a). install with the screws at an angle or
b). fill the holes with wood putty/glue and retap them at 35 mm apart.

I went ahead and tried to install the screws at an angle. It took several tries to get the screws just right so the claw wasn't pulling away from the body too much. Once it was in place, the installation was very easy.

For reasons I will go into in the Sound Quality section, I don't think I should permanently leave the tremol-no claw with the screws angled in, but I am a little nervous about retapping the holes in my guitar, as the whole reason I opted to go with the tremol-no was that I wouldn't have to drill up my guitar.

Sound Quality : 9
Once in place, the tremol-no delivers what it promises. By blocking the bridge, sustain is increased, and palm muted riffs can be made much chunkier. The thing is pretty transparent, otherwise, but that's exactly what you want in a product like this. The complaint I have, which comes from the angled screw installation, is that I no longer have any whammy bar flutter. This means that I can't make the dragonforce "nintendo sounds". This is also why I think I will eventually have to retap the screw holes.

Reliability : 10
There doesn't seem to be any trouble on the reliability front. I've had it a month, and have had no troubles. It seems to me that so long as you lubricate it annually (along with the knife edge on the floyd, like you're supposed to), it won't give you any reliability issues.

Something that I think people will complain about is the potential for the thumb screws to fall out. I would say that if you keep in mind that you're not using these to clamp pieces of wood together - they only need to be tight, they don't need to be torqued down on - and therefore they only need a quarter turn to be loosened to use the trem, there shouldn't be a risk of this happening.

Customer Support : 10
I contacted customer support by email when I had my trouble with the spacing of the claw screws. Kevan got back to me a few hours later, and was very helpful. I don't envision any trouble here.

Overall Rating : 9
I play lots of music, but the guitar I got this for is primarily used for thrash and metal (a Dean Dime-o-Flame). As I said, palm muted riffs can be made a lot chunkier with the bridge locked. Likewise, when the bridge is locked there are gobs of added sustain. Hell, even in the dive-only mode, there is tons of extra sustain. It also makes tuning and setting up the floyd that much easier. The block I get with this is a way more precise "ground zero" point than a block of wood is. I can block the bridge with the tremol-no, unlock the nut, tune the strings, relock the nut, and unblock the bridge, and not even have to touch the fine tuners. I checked out some other products before I got the tremol-no, and this seemed to be the least invasive way to block/unblock the bridge on the go. I think the only problems I have had have been from my guitar having a different size claw than what T-no considers standard. I don't know if I would have gone with tremol-no if I had know that this would be a problem. Someday I will get around to filling the holes and retapping them, and we will see how that works.

In two seconds your floating trem will go from full floating to locked or dive-only. Brilliant. Hard to do during a song, maybe, but in order to design a system that could be activated *that* quickly, they'd have to come up with something pretty complicated - and the simplicity of the device (Ibanez and Floyd Rose should REALLY have this device come stock) is what makes it good.

Sound Quality : 10
Because of this device I don't have to buy another fixed-bridge guitar to get fixed-bridge tone and playability. It's so much fun to be able to grind away at brutal rhythms or play chicken pickin' style without that annoying warble. Bends feel better, tone is better, yadda yadda it's the well worn fixed-bridge vs. floating argument... but now I don't have to take sides.

Reliability : 9
Haven't had it long enough to confirm it's long-term ruggedness, but it seems bulletproof so far.

Customer Support : 9
Oh here's a bonus feature nobody seems to crow about: in locked mode adjusting intonation and changing strings is A LOT easier, especially since intonation adjustments on these bridges usually involve detuning the string each time.

The only thing I'd improve is the installation manual: a couple of pictures would do a lot more than the mediocre instructions they printed. Frankly, I installed the thing myself without reading them much at all, although there are a few important points in there (NOT overtightening, etc)

Can't get the tailpiece clamp to clamp enough on my tremolo block...it pops off when I use my trem.

Customer Support : 1
Got a spare pin style clamp after 4 weeks as as I simply couldn't get the original to clamp..but same thing. I read similar problems on the Tremol-no Forum, but Customers are told it's their wrong doing...but I'm sure I did exactly as the manual instructed me.
You can visit the T-no forum and click on "Problems with tailpiece" or google: http://www.tremol-no.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197&page2

Not to slam but these and other problems are very real so something IS wrong with this product and the manufacturer better listen for a change.

Purchased StewMac's Tremconverter, a very similar device...only much better! still not a well known product but works as StewMac claims without any of the problems I had with the Tremol-no. A clever system, too.
