I have spent the last few months searching for the perfect chorus pedal. I have extensively tested the Retro-Sonic Chorus Ensemble, Visual Sound H2O, Fulltone ChoralFlange, MXR Chorus, and Red Witch Empress Chorus. All of these are very nice pedals, and the Red Witch is one of the finest I have ever heard, but the Analog Man tops them all.
Basically, it is impossible to get a bad sound out of this unit no matter what the settings. It might not be what you are looking for, but it always sounds great. And there are no ridiculous sounds you never will use. This means that more of the adjustments of the knobs will give you more useable sounds. It is also amazing flexible. I think their website completely under sells the many different shades of chorus you can get. Add in the fact that you have two settings, and, in my opinion, you have the perfect chorus pedal. Flexible enough to get any sound you need, but simple enough to be able to adjust it on the fly. Also, it is dead quiet on every setting. I have no idea how they do this with a purely analog pedal, but it is allowing me to use it in digital recording situations with no problems or unwanted hiss.

Every setting on this pedal sounds excellent and fully retains the bass guitar's low-end; thus, it is extremely easy to use. The pedal is self-explanatory--two sets of controls ("Depth" and "Speed") and two switches ("ON" and "A-B").

I ordered this pedal with the "fixed deep" setting because I use it on bass. It is absolutely the best effects pedal I have used on bass. I've tried, used, and continue to use effects pedals from EBS and Fulltone. I used Boss pedals early on. This pedal is more organic, clear, and liquid sounding than anything I've ever used. It is shocking how good this pedal sounds. It's extremely addictive. One problem you will have with this pedal is overcoming the challenge of wanting to constantly use it on everything you play. Sure, I think it's the best chorus pedal ever made for bass, but you can't really use a chorus pedal 100% of the time on your bass, or can you? I can hype the sound of this pedal up forever, but you really just have to try it in person to understand what I am trying to describe. It can do everything from flanging to the "leslie speaker" thing, and extremely well too. It opens more avenues for your tone than you would expect from a chorus pedal. It is extremely fun to toy around with. It is also 100% full of useful sounds. You can't get a bad sound out of the thing. If you are looking for a chorus pedal for your bass that sounds warm, rich, organic, does not eat up any low-end, and will exceed your expectations of chorus pedals in general, order this pedal! You will not be disappointed.

I have had the pedal long enough to rehearse with it and hear it tracked. It sounds totally awesome and the construction is absolutely top-notch. However, I have not had the pedal long enough to see how it holds up over time. I am confident that this pedal will last for a very, very long time. With that said, I'll give it a "10" in this category.

Analog Mike was extremely timely in his responses. I feel confident that if there was ever a problem with the pedal, Analog Mike would take care of the situation in an honest and equitable way. The shipping was quick, and the pedal even came in a cool hemp bag within the sturdy box it was shipped in. Overall, it was a great and pleasantly surprising experience dealing with Analog Mike. Ordering and receiving the peadl was the great part. Hooking the pedal up and hearing it for the first time was the pleasantly surprising part. I'm still surprised by how freaking good this pedal sounds! As far as customer service goes, I give Mike a "10."

I play mainly punk-influenced rock, so this type of pedal is not ideal for the style of music I play in the traditional sense. However, it more-than-fulfills the somewhat rare instances where chorusing is appropriate in the type of music I play. In fact, this pedal is finding its way into more and more parts of my band's songs. Great pedals like this can really expand your horizons, if they sound good enoung. This one does! I've been playing bass for fourteen years and have tried many pedals; this one wins. If it were stolen, I'd immediately get another one. There's nothing I hate about it. I love everything about it (sound, looks awesome, construction is rock-solid). I compared it to others, mainly the DLS chorus pedal, and ordered it without hearing it in person--do not regret decision at all. It helps me make music in a much larger capacity than I ever thought an effects pedal could. It is 100% top-notch in every area. I cannot recommend this pedal highly enough.

Plug and play! If in stereo mode, use a second amp at about 15 feet apart and you are in audio heaven.
On synthesizers this chorus is better than the Roland juno series chorus, plus it is stealthy quiet. Brings out a depthness in a synth that has to be heard.
On mellotrons, again it makes the sound spread out-wide! On the Boys Chorus recordings it is goosebumps!

Guitars- PRS McCartey. Gibson les paul w/ humbuckers and P90's.
Synths-MacBeth M5, MKS 80, Oberhiem OB1, Emaxemu sx, Prophet 5
Mellotrons= M400; SFX console.
VERY Very Quiet.
What ever you use this chorus on, it sounds great. It seems to sound even better when recorded.
For amps I use a 1975 Marskall JMP 100w master volume and as a second amp I use a Rivera 55.
For my synths I have a small PA system, but I insert the Analog man between the synth and the mixer. Really makes a monon output like a Prophet 5 sound Holy.
As far as the guitar effects I have it inserted after my Mesa Boogie Bottle rocket distortion pedal then into the front of my amp. The Bi-chorus had true by-pass! When you switch it off, your tone stays pure.

Using a American Standard Telecaster with a Orange Rockerverb 50 combo.
The chorus effect can be set from shallow and thin right through to a very deep and lush setting, the range is greatly extended with the depth toggle switch (which I highly recommend).
Its very cool having the ability to have two settings that you can change on the fly, adds some dynamics to songs.
If you liked the EHX Small Clone then you will LOVE this, it kinda sounds like a far more refined version with a more spacious 'feel' to it.

Been playing for 8 years, always thought Chorus effects were 80's cheese and should stay in that decade, but this pedal doesn't sound 'cheesy' it just gives a nice warmth to my clean sounds.
This is the most usable, most versatile chorus I have used.
Its not the cheapest but you get a very high quality effect here, worth very penny. On the waiting list for the Bi-Comprossor, cant wait

The Bi-Chorus is about as simple to use as it gets. Each presettable sound has its own speed and depth knobs, just dial in two different sounds to taste, and switch between the two. I ordered mine with the deep switch option for added versatility. The left position is deep, center is thin, and right is the normal setting.

In my opinion the Bi-Chorus is top notch professional sounding and looking chorus. I took it to a recent jam where I got to compare it to a couple of other nice boutique chours pedals and all present agreed that the AnalogMan chorus was the warmest, lushest sounding, and by far the most versatile. Whats great about the Bi-Chorus, is
that while the great sounding Small Clone pedigree is apparent, it is so much more than a Small Clone, or copy of any pedal. At the jam the Bi-Chorus was definitely capable of emulating most of the classic chorus sounds we all know and love, such as the traditional Boss and T.C electronics tones. In fact all of the boutique pedals present seemed to have this ability and would make fine additions to anyones pedal board, but all present agreed that only the Bi-Chorus had the ability to create more of it's own unique sounds. This, is truly what seperates the AnalogMan chorus, from all others. This is hard to describe, but the AnalogMan chorus seems to have more complexity to it's tone. The ears are so pleasantly massaged by the sonic components of it's choursing effect, particularly the higher speed settings, with the deep switch engaged to the right. In my experience this is usually the Achilles heel of most other chorus pedals, to the point where I usually avoid those types of settings, but not so with the Bi-Chorus. The Bi-Chorus was run through its paces using single coil pickups, humbuckers, and p-90's and sounded great with each type, as did all of the other boutique chorus pedals. The Bi-Chorus sounded consistently great clean, and when an overdriven signal was pumped through it, particularly when a 12V power supply is used. The signal chain used for testing was as follows:
Budda Wah -> Fulltone SoulBender Fuzz -> AnalogMan Beano Boost -> T Jaurenig Diabolical Gristle Tone Manipulator Overdrive -> Bi-Chours -> DLS EchoTap -> Carr Slant 6V, Fender VibroKing, Matchless DC 30, or Marshall DSL 50.
The consensus was that of all the chorus pedals at the jam, the Bi-Chorus was definitely the biggest sounding, and hands down capable of more usable tones, and inspired the most creativity out of the player.

I have owned several boutique chorus pedals over the years, and while they were fine effects in their own right, I can honestly say that the Bi-Chorus is definitely the biggest sounding, and hands down capable of more usable tones, and inspires the most creativity out of the player. It isn't cheap but lifes too short to settle for mediocre tone. Besides the single channel Clone Chorus is reasonably priced and also has all the tone. Either way you will be satisfied.

My rig is: gibson 335 or tom anderson strat, budda wah, analogman bicomp, xotic RC into BB into AC pedals, analogman bichorus, volume pedal, and dls echotap delay into a boogie lonestar. I wanted to compare this chorus with the other big names I tried, hopefully it will give a bit of insight,
Maxon cs9 pro, I owned this for quite a while, and while it sounded good, it added a bit of midrange that wasn't always desireable, plus the input was very easily distorted, causing the pedal to break up in a rather unpleasant way.
Carl martin chorus Xii, this one was nice, but kind of sterile, and limited in it's flexibility. It did have a lot of headroom though, but it didn't really sound natural,
I tried all the boss models, and liked the dimension chorus the best, but they all sounded kind of tinny and tended to boost my signal quite a bit, something I really don't want from a chorus.
he visual sound H2o was a very nice one, with the variable delay time control, and did a fantastic fast leslie sound, but the thing was horribly noisey, and again, there was a significant volume boost.
I owned the voodoo lab chorus most recently, and used it only for a fast leslie sound, which was the only thing it did well. It added a huge volume boost, and completely changed the tone of the guitar, adding tons of highs, and scooping out the mids, but it sounded cool for a radical change.
I also had the fulltone choralflange, which was, until now, my favorite. It is a great box, very warm and flexible, but I always wished it was a bit warmer. For that Eric Johnson type of chorus, the fulltone nails it, and in stereo, it's just beautifull. Enter the bichorus. I wanted a chorus to do both a nice slow chorus and a fast leslie, and the bichorus delivers on both accounts. It has the warmth of being fully analog, but it doesn't add any drastic mids or highs, and doesn't boost my volume noticeably when I turn it on. With the mix trim pot, you can blend as much of the dry signal back in as you want, I found that I needed to change it just a touch from the factory setting, but it really sounds good wherever it's set. I had Mike add the deep option, where you can switch between three different delay times, making the chorus go from an almost flanger type sound to a very warbly thick chorus. The main thing I love about this chorus is that you can't overload the input, especially when running it on a 12 volt output of a pedal power or with an adapter that Mike sells. It's dead quiet as well, something tha's essential for me.

Fairly straightforward to understand. However, there is a mix (wet/dry signal ratio) trimpot inside, which you will probably want to have a play with. Depending on how often you want to adjust this, or want to repalce the battery, it is worthwhile investing in a little power drill for the 4 back palte screws, especially if you have multiple effects boxes of this ilk.
The documentation for the pedal is fairly concise but it is largely self explainatory. If this isn't enough, I'm afraid you will have to wade through the content of Mike's site for the info you want. Incidently, if you read all the information there on "the" chorus pedal, you are treated to a PHd level lecture on electronics. Ok not quite, but pragmatic people won't wanna go near it...although you'd be missing out on the 18 differnt trims this unit comes in. Customise! :D
The ease with which you can get a good sound out of this is inversely proportional to how fussy you are. I have spend a long time persevering with this box and im stilll not convinced. It is probably due to the fact that the unit is so flexible!
Sound Quality
:10
Let me preface this by saying that it is really hard to tell - "it depends". So here's my rig:
Firstly, the bi-comp will sound best on 18v. a zinc chloride battery, will sound better than an alkaline.
I have found with alkaline batteries that i get a slightly gritty distortion sound usually on the bottom strings when using the clean channel. This went away when i used an MXR 18 volt adaptor
-clarity was *slightly* enhanced. -it's an improvement that you'll only really appreciate if you listen hard, espceially if you are using high quality equipment (inc leads). Most importantly - the distortion vanishes!
So, when run at optimum, the pedal's sound quality is very good, no matter what setting. This pedal depends decent equipment to sound good though -my delay enhances my clean channel. - this shows it up. I have played quite a lot of chorus pedals through several amps, and I very much liked the Homebrew Elctronics one also. Only one channel, with no depth toggle, but with the mix on top. Also cheaper, but of high sound quality. I find the options on the bi-chorus offer me more flexibilty - my chorus setup is very different for distiortion and clean.
Boss's Chorus stands for Crummy Horrid Old Ruddy Useless Sh*te. It really is that lifeless in comparison. both of the models they do. This pedal is in a league few can get close to. The fact it costs 5 times as much is justfied -it really does sound 5 times better!
Reliability
:7
The pedal is rock solid, and everything fits snuggly and securely inside. Circuitry and soldering is first class. I couln't really afford to replace it, but i would be pretty gutted if it died. There is no reason why this shouldn't last. However, the when i plugged it in recently using a battery it simply made hirrible noises and the led didnt seem to engage, with little volume coming through. even when off, the tru bypass seemed to allow this wierd whiring sound to come through...:-o When i used an adaptor, problem was solved. I shall speak to Mike about this, but it does not really concern me as his site states clearly it is not intended for 9 volts really. This is no reason why the feature shouldn't function adequately however, and i will ask him about it asap.
the type of reliability that counts most here is in getting a good sound that gives you the all important buzz feeling inside. This is hard with this pedal -lots of settings, dependancy on decent equipment, well setup etc, and getting it to work with distortion is hard, but rewarding. I've never been able to set it up and leave it, although i seem to have finally got it more or less how i want. good at lots of different sounds - but getting your own is hard...perseverence is a habit i would impress upon anyone to develop - it IS worth it.

I dare say for someone who is probably quite well off, his heart is clearly in this!

I like all sorts of music ranging from santana and pink floyd to iron maiden and yngwie malmsteen...all radical. i like the chorus sounds used in nirvana, king's x and sting...
Whilst there are many chorus and chorus/vibrato-esque sounds to be had out of this box, youll end up going back to the "good ol'" sound folk recongise (unless you like leslie effects).
You want to make sure you get an 18volt adaptor, or if uw ant a power brick, jim dunlops makes one with some 18volt outlets.
This thing needs a great clean channel to really sing, so i know i have far from found this things true potential. However, from the little i heard of it being used my by the guitarist in my dad's band (experienced and frankly phenominal) using a fender deville combo it sounded great. he also used it wit a mesa boogie dual, and triple rectifier through a vintage 30's cab - very impressive (but fender had the edge, as always). He borrowed it for a few days and wants me to order hi one asap, it is the ebst he has heard in 35+ years of playing.
So...if chorus is your bag, go get one!

Takes a little bit of tinkering with the trim pots inside the pedal that's why I could not give it a 10. Also, I am not sure if it is a consistant sounding chorus between the a and b side of the pedal. I think the a side has more of a deeper tone. I just remedy that by using a side as the transparent thin layer of chourus and use the b side with thicker depth, leslie sounds etc. That works better for my sound if I use it the other way around, I find my myself getting to much chours effect for my taste. Very hard to find the sweet spot on this pedal has alot of options.

This pedal is ideal for clean tones or gritty overdrives. I tend to play a lot of 80's hard rock/metal and I have a hard time getting this thing to sound tasteful with high gain distortion. But for classic rock and blues, it's awesome! The depth toggle switch helps with layering distortion tones but I can't find the sweetspot. But if you play bluesy classic overdrive kind of stuff, out of the box it's ready to go.
I was ignorant when I bought this thing because I did not realize that I prefer my chorus to be digitally produced. This thing sounds good and does what it is advertised to do.

Good pedal but was'nt the perfect fit for me. A lot of other players really dig it and people lust over mine all of the time. Don't get me wrong it is high quality and an awesome chorus pedal, but I like using those digital processor type things when it comes to chours effects. A digital wet/dry mix tends to give me the right amount of chorus for what I do. But I understand that for an analog chorus or chorus pedal this is the top choice out their. I am just really picky about chours and this pedal comes the closest. I just belive that choruses and flangers should not be produced by pedals at all! I believe this falls just short, but is usable. All other pedals out their are a waste of money some of them I can't tell if they are trems, flanges or choruses.
