I received my Mini BiComp in record time! Thanks !

shape,

>
> Opened the case to look at the settings for the trim pots even tho I
didn't

Really

>
> Definitely an effect with maximum tone & versatility.

> I'll stay on the list for the large version, but I'm not sure why at this

Analog Mike knows his stuff-high quality wiring inside- I don't foresee any problems happening because the guts are assembled from high quality parts & not cobbled up-actually better & tougher looking than factory stuff

Rock, blues, jazz Definitely a match. Been playing for nearly 40 years Les Paul thru tweed Bassman is other rig-played straight,no effects, just cranked amp
would have to get another- actually on the wait list for the large version with the attack pot on the outside of the case-even more versatile-it definitely performs as it should-far superior to my ancient MXR DynaComp-this sucker sings!

These pedal's are very easy to use, you may want to spend sometime messing with you're guitar's & amp's of choice to really get a feel for what the pedal is capable of doing.
The Manual is laid out in a very simple formate and the Analogman website, help's even more. I failed to mention, Mike is great and a wonderfull guy to deal with.

Im giving this pedal a 10. The reason being I do allot of session work and do the cover band thing on friday and saturday nights. I need gear that will work for me in all situation's. If im doing Jazz,Rock or Country. The Bi Comp will fit nicely in all of the above.
I have one primary setup I use these days. Bogner 101B Ectasy head Bogner 2x12. Guitars Fender 51 Nocaster,1960 Strat Relic's and
a Gibson historic Les Paul gold top with Fralin PAF's. My main Effect's rig is " Clyde wah > Deja Vibe II > Sun Face NKT275, into a
GCX Patchbay housed in a rack. Chicago iron works Octavia > Bi-Comp >
Beano Boost > Full Drive II > Clone Chorus > Paradox Flanger and Tc Electronic's G Major for reverb,Delay and Eq function's and boosting the single coil levels.
Sound's... This is a fun one, I like to run both side's of the pedal and the Bogner allow's me to have three very differn't sound's at any given time. I manly use this pedal with the strat or tele. I can nail the Steely Dan "My old Skool" flavor with my tele or go to a crystal clean compression with delay & reverb for that clean U2/ Pink floyd type of sound. I tend to use the compression for more sustain type of lead sounds in my dirty channel wiith my les Paul or with any Ebow type of work.

The knobs are pretty straightforward:
Attack, Sustain and Volume on the Ross side
Volume on the OS (Orange Squeeze) side
The two stomp switches are far enough apart that I don't accidentally click both at the same time, but close enough so that the box doesn't leave a large footprint.

Here's all I need to get killer tone with this:
Telecaster STD > Bi-CompROSSor > Vox AC30 (reissue)
Sure, the Vox tone is great to start with, but the Bi-Comp really adds to the inherent richness and fills things out more completely. I don't really add it to distortion, so I'm not noticing much hiss at all with this unit. Very quiet and well-behaved. I used the OS side almost exclusively; I find it to be a bit brighter, which is right up my alley. However, the Ross side is just a different flavor of heaven.

Everyone knows Mike is helpful and friendly. He goes out of his way, offers suggestions, works with you...can't say enough great things about this guy. Where does he find enough hours in a day to get all this done and still treat every customer he talks to with so much personal attention?

I've been playing guitar for 18 years or so. Broadly speaking, the kind of music I play falls under the category of "rock." For me, that covers everything from Chuck Berry and the Beatles to Stone Temple Pilots.
Like I wrote above, this unit is a perfect expansion of the Vox tone. I don't own a backup, but if it were lost or stolen I'd get a replacement immediately.
I really trust Analog Mike's craftsmanship and sense of tone, so I knew I'd be heading in this direction when I started shopping around. Check out the sound files on his site for some great examples.

My pups are all Fralins, all in various guitars, Strats, Les Pauls, and Teles - with the exception of a pair of TVjones Classic Filtertron pups in a swamp ash Tele/Frankenstein. All my amps are tube, '59 tweed Super, '59 tweed Bassman, '59 Silvertone Medalist, tweed Deluxe, and a newer BJr which has been worked over a bit. My speakers are mixed, EV12Ls, original Jensen 10s/12s, P or N,(some with stock voice coils, some reconed by Weber or Kjellberg), some reconed CTS 10s, (ditto), and a Weber 'special' 12 that is a remarkable speaker, basically a Chicago Dog paper voice coil in a Celestion 100 watt basket.
Sufficed to say that I have too much stuff, but also that I am a tone whore - and you maybe need to know this up front.:
Okay, it is a plug and play pedal, simple to figure out if you are even mildly into compressors. Turn it on, play gtr basically.
Sound Quality
:

See above for gear.:
The pedal is very recordable, my other money pit, and certainly a very quiet piece of gear. I am actually honored to have such a fine piece of gear to call my own, to run from my gtr into my amp and cut a truly remarkable track. ??? When you have the piece in hand, and you play it, it becomes clear that THIS is a MUST HAVE PEDAL if you wish to sound like any of the 'big boys' on record or CD. "Damn", you will whisper as the sound literally jumps out of the speaker, "this is what I have been missing!" And, no, I am not exaggerating...

Mike is a Professional, and note the capital 'P' - I do not expect anything less than the best bulletproof build a man can devise. And keep in mind, I am small potatoes compared to some of the customers that he sells and services, yet I get to buy the SAME gear, gear that is very well thought of in the very best of musical circles. Names? Okay, Sonny Landreth 'suggested' I purchase one of Mike's compressors when I told him I was not satisfied with what I had tried - he apparently has every model compressor Mike has made, including the BICOMPROSSOR.

Analogman.com/Mike has been very quick to answer a question. He has even hooked me up in the past with techs that repair some unique pedals that I run into, a Roland Funny Cat, for example. If my precious BICOMPROSSOR ever does go south, I have absolutely no worries about Mike being there for me. He is a rock who loves his work.

I love all kinds of music, play more SRV/Albert/T-Bone kind of stuff. I have played a long time, am old enough to know better, and this is a truly remarkable piece of gear. Like one of the reviewers before me urged, I will now repeat: BUY THIS PEDAL!!! It does wonderful things to an electric guitar, live or recorded. To have both compressors in one box is like have very tasty gravy on my very tasty gravy - you decide which tunes you will use either one for, I can't tell you. No, I will only add that you may think you have found some very tasty gravy elsewhere, but you have not found the real very tasty gravy until you own a compressor by Analogman/Mike. Okay? BUY THIS PEDAL!!!

Ok, this is THE compressor!
OS side: great for clean sounds. I've checked with a Strat and a Shergold Meteor > BICOMPROSSOR > TC Electronics Chorus > Mesa Boogie Preamp > Roland Bolt (only final section). AMAZING! Life and dynamics!
COMPROSSOR side: heavier compression, great for leads. Checked with a Custom 3 PUs Les Paul and an Ibanez Artist > TS808 and Jacques Tubeblower > Mesa Pre > Roland Bolt: UNBELIEVABLE! Sustain forever!
A little bit of noise, but it's an analog compressor!
10/10 definitively!!!

This is a outstanding Device. No other Compressor can be compared with the Sound of the BiComp. There are two in one - a Comprossor and a Orange Squeezer (that I like most). I could not believe, how good this thing sounds. Once you plugged in your Guitar, you can't stop playing. It sounds very, very natural and I cannot image playing without it anymore. But there's one thing you have to be careful with: If you use a Power Supply, be sure to take a good DC Adapter, otherwise the Orange Squeezer Part may produce some noise. My Equipment is: Fender Stratocasters, Telecaster -> Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor (Effect Send/Return) -> BiComp -> Electro Harmonix Bad Stone -> Zoom 5000 Drive -> Korg AX100G -> Yamaha DG100-212 Virtual Amp (sounds like a real Tube-Amp!).
The Bicomp brings Life to my Sound, specially for Clean and Crunch it's amazing!!! If you like the Sounds of Lynyrd Skynyrd or Mark Knopfler for example, the Orange Squeezer is just the right Thing. It gives some grit to the Sound that grooves like Hell! For funky notes I use the Comprossor Part. Just have a Look at Mike's great Homepage, there you can download a lot of Soundfiles.

I'm playing Guitar since 1968 now and have seen a lot of Compressors, but the BiComp is absolutely unique! I wish I'd come across this thing much earlier - it's a Dream. Compressors like the MXR, Marshall, Boss, Ibanez, Digitech a.s.o. got no chance against the BiComp. Mike is using rare and special selected Transistors, Chips and Diodes and that you really can hear! I am absolutely satisfied. If lost or stolen, I would cut the Balls of the Guy who stole it and let him sing in a Church. I would buy another one in a Heartbeat. The BiComp is worth every single Cent, it's a must have!!! So buy it immedeately - I swear, you'll love it!

Only had it for a few days and I keep loving it more and more every time I play it, and there's no added noise at all. Ive only played It with my triple rectifier once (which is my main head). It sounded great when i patched it through the effects loop on the distortion side with the Orange Squeezer and I liked the Ross on the clean side of the amp. I havent figured out exactly where on my pedal chain i want to put this beauty but itll make its permanent place somewhere in line. Get this pedal. Now...

Two knobs for Ross, and two knobs for Orange Squeeze, and one stomp switch on each side. Very easy to use. The Ross side, or Attack side has an attack knob, and a volume knob, and the Squeeze side has an Sustain knob, and a volume knob. The Attack is the most percussive and pronounced I have yet heard. It's like getting a whole new effect to use and play with. The Sustain is long and beautiful. The only noise comes from the guitar, not the pedal. It has True Bypass so there is no loss of sound quality when using it. The instruction sheet that came with it is very understandable and explanatory, and gives a few hints on normal settings. I beleive this is the most recent and upgraded version of this pedal.

I have a G&L ASAT Classic (Telecaster Copy, but more Fender than Fender), and a Ibanez EX350. My amp is an early 70s vintage Fender Twin Reverb. I have many other botique pedals in my collection, all of good quality and sound, ie. Fulltone, Mutron, and Menatone. I quit using my old BOSS CS3 because this BiComprossor just cuts it to shreds. NO MORE BOSS PEDALS FOR ME!
I have my own sound, not someone elses!

This is the only pedal I have from AnalogMan,(Mike). It looks and feels like it will last a long time. But only time will tell. I don't really gig much, so it won't be getting banged around alot. As far as I can tell after only a week of using it, it is dependable, but at this time I am reserving my opinion on its long term dependability.

I have emailed Mike with questions on 5 or 6 different occaisions and he has always been prompt in his replys back to me. I was on his waiting list for about 3 or 4 months when he emailed me to tell me that I could order the pedal. But it was several months before I able to proceed with the order, but as soon as I did order, there was no delay. I have not had any upgrades, nor have I had it repaired. I have a good feeling that Mike is a very reputable man, and is true to his word.

I like to play Progressive Rock. I have been playing about 20 years.
If it were stolen, I would first find the M*%_@r F&$+!$g B(+!^$d and tie him or her naked to stakes in the ground in the middle of the desert near a big ant hole, and pour honey all over him or her and watch the ants have fun. That goes if any of my gear was stolen! If it were lost I would weep endlessly for days, then buy a new one.

Schecter Strat or Tele w. Kinmans - Vox Wah w. true bypass - Bicomp - Analogman DS-1 - Analogman TS-9/808 - Visual Sound H2O - Tube Amp (Fender, Marshall, ATT (handmade German EL84 Amp).
The first time I used it I was frankly dissappointed. Four months later this and the TS9 are the effects I would take to the deserted island. Play through a clean amp and you'll have those "geile" country, funk and blues sounds.Use it with a Overdrive and your Stratwill sing. Best compressor I know, and I know a few! It's not an "effect", my guitars just sound better and bigger. Please remember, that I play very nice guitars and amps!
