If you have a Boss delay pedal, you already have the basics covered. With the hi-cut mod the effect level and feedback parameters change a bit depending on your setting. Ease of use for mod is a matter of moderate cut (either down or left) original sound (middle) deep cut (up or right).

The mod brings back the sound of the older Boss dely pedals (DM-2 and DD-2) in the way effects trail off and the sound is diminished (in a good way)-I actually appreciate the original ultra-clean delay more for the times I want to use it. The stereo mod is a bit pricey, but it enables you to use the cut tones on longer delays. Choice is good!

Analog Mike is known to stand behind his products-He is very quick and clean in his work. My only quibble (which I shared with him) is that I would like to have an acknowledgement of receiving the pedal, and a sheet with favorite settings and an explanation of how the pedal is different. He does respond to personal e-mails and is pleasant.

I play many styles of music and guitars, also keyboards. I am a delay fan and have things I like and don't like about every delay pedal out there--either too many buttons, not enough delay time available, too large. The DD-6 in its stock form was designed OK, but a couple of features were pointless to me, and the sound could be downright ice-picky. The Hi-Cut mod brings warmth and subtlety to the pedal, makes the 'warp' feature really shine and the 'reverse' feature sound more old-skool. It's a bit pricey, but if you like the basic design of this pedal, but want to add the "missing link" it is worth it.

Well its as easy as the stock pedal with 3 tonal options. Really simple.

I have never written a review for guitar pedals, but this one made me want to. When I read reviews here, normally the only section I look at is sound quality.
I use 2 delays in my set up. I do love the boss dm-2 (it analog!), but its not versatile. I usually (before and after the mod) use the DD-6 for extremely short delay. I don???t like watery chorus pedals to make the guitar sound thicker, I prefer to use the delay to make it sound like multiple guitar players. I like to use the volume/tone on the guitar, with the tone down the stock DD-6 was way to bright. This mod makes it sound very close to being analog. There is a certain kind of muddiness the dm-2 has a tinge of that the DD-6 doesn???t have. Don???t let that stop you??? this mod is definitely worth it. This is what I would point out to anyone looking at this review, I can hear the difference, but only a tone freak would really notice the difference in quality. I have played more than a few tube amps, but still use solid state, I can hear the difference, but most people can???t.
What setup (i.e. what guitars and amps) are you using this with?
Fender Telecaster and a Jaguar, guild 73 S-100, hagstrom 68 viking, Marshall Valvestate, and a crappy roland amp (I say that, I really mean its an amp I would never use by itself. It???s a 2 amp set up: Into both amps big muff, modded crybaby, modded digitech whammy 4: then its split to the marshall with a boss dm-2: the roland gets a Volume pedal, Fender blender, Keeley boss tr-2, analog boss CE-5, and then the Analogman boss DD-6.
I pay a lot of attention to tone, despite not having a tube amp. I am the singer/songwriter/only guitar player in my band. This setup probably wont change for the next few years??? maybe replace the roland with a Vox AC15cc

Plenty easy enough to use. Its a Boss and they always seem easy to use. Obviously having the analogman mod, you get the extra added 3 way toggle. Just switch this back and forth to find the sound you want. It goes from left to right: cut-normal-more cut.
Analogman doesnt add any description of what settings the toggle switch is but it only takes a minute to figure it out.

This is where it gets good. Honestly. Everybody should know before hand that this is at heart a digital delay. Prior to buying this I never tried the original dd-6 before. I put my trust in the previous reviews and so on. I did spend quite a while buying, returning and reselling different digital and analog delays. I wound up going back to digital because it seemed every analog delay or chorus I tried with my setup, they added some breakup to my sound.
Im running a boogie stiletto deuce and these delays were all used in its loop. The other digital delays I tried did do the delay thing and honestly the only gripe I can mention is the fact that they were just too perfect sounding. Much like the normal setting on the dd-6.
Theres nothing wrong with that sound and I enjoy using it but once you try a real analog delay you will understand what the warmth and not so perfect repeats sound like. Sweet.
The analogman dd-6 really doesnt make the repeats any different, it seems like what it does is adds warmth. There is a big difference in sound on the 2 other settings from the normal setting.
For some reason this dd-6 just works perfect with my rig. There is absolutley no added noise and there is absolutley no sound increase or decrease when engaged. I dont hear any tone loss either.
I cant put a finger on the reason yet but like I stated before, it just seems to work so well with my rig unlike some of the other digital delays ive owned. While im on the subject I will state that the dd-6 has a couple options I cant see myself using. The warp, reverse and delays more than a second or so. This thing goes to like 5.2 seconds if you want. It doesnt hurt any to have these options and who knows what the future will bring.
To end this, I will say that im very impressed with the pedal. The boss dd-6 in itself is outstanding for a digital delay and when you add the analogman high-cut mod it just gets better.
I dont like to give something a 10 but honestly in my eyes for the rig I use it with, the sounds it offers in itself along with an awsome mod,, I cant give it any less. Im glad I kept searching and im also glad the search is now over.

I play anything from bles to rock to metal. I just love the sound of delay added to metal lead playing and this pedal works damn good for that. Been playing long enough to know that on the grand scale of guitar playing, I suck. If it went missing today I would buy another. I compared it to the boss dd-3, guyatone md-3, t-rex replica, dls echo-tap and a few more I forget right now.

Well, again, this review is for the Analog Man MOD, not for DD-6 sound.
The analogMan mod sounds amazing.
Incredible.
You will get as analog delays.
The sounds will be darker and darker, as the analog delays.
In this way you will get the delay-reverb sound.
Without the high frequencies, the delayed signals sound darker than the original, and the sound is more analog, dense, atmospheric.

I play rock, modern, a bit classic, classic heavy Metal.
I have Marshall DSL head, and I put the delay in the loop.
I was looking for the best delays.
I bought the DeluxeMemory Man fron Analaog Man (true bypass mod), and this DD-6, because the DL-4 is not so good.
The DD-6 has several modes, and tap tempo (for the live performance).
Well, with this mod, you will not need more delays.
Really sounds amazing.
The DD-6 delay is a perfect copy of the original sound, but the high frequences do that the delay is not completely useful when you want or look for a vintage and more atmospheric sound.
With the mod, the delay is here, but it doesn't sound too clear. It is more as reverb. It has not the bright attack.

I would say this pedal is as easy as any other standard delay pedal. Tap-tempo is a little tough to get use to because of 2 things. One - you have different tempo modes and you have to make sure you have selected the correct one or the tempo will be different than what you expect. Two - you have to hold the pedal down for a couple of seconds to enter tap-tempo mode, you then tap in your tempo. The tap-tempo is very accurate. To leave tap tempo mode you must again hold down the pedal for a couple of seconds. One thing to note is that when you leave tap tempo mode the delay stays to the value you tapped in until you make an adjustment with the traditional nobs. This can all be a little confusing at first and screwed me up on my first gig with it pretty bad but now that I am use to it I like the number of options in such a small sized pedal. If you use alot of delay, you probally will never leave the tap-tempo mode so this stuff won't matter. The functionality is well documented in the manual.

This pedal was supprise, I have gone through about every echo pedal that has been made, seriously. No matter the price, you name it I have probally owned it - Maxon ad900, SIB Echodrive (both blue and red), Boss dd2 & analogman dd3, Diamond memory lane, DLS echo-tap Roland Space echo, etc... In its stock state, the dd-6 is just another mass-produced delay that does the job in live situations as a digital pedal, nothing to get excited about, but I do think better than many of the cheaper alternatives. There are many other high priced delays that are soo much better than the stock dd-6, that if you have the budget I wouldn't even consider it, BUT...
Analogman's mod gives you 2 new sound options that make this pedal just GREAT. The stock digital sound is still there if you want it, but new sounds are very full, warm and smooth like an analog delay. To me there is no coloration or added noise by the pedal. What goes in is what comes out, delayed. IMO, this $50 mod makes this pedal comparable to the much higher priced delays out there. Very musical!
Another thing to notes is if you are considering between a modified DD-2/3 or DD-6, the DD-6 is much smoother(there is none of the distinctive PING that the dd-2 and dd-3 have) and gives you alot more options that is definatly worth the couple extra $.

For the sound, size, options and price the Analogman dd-6 is great. Yes there are other pedals that are just a hair better at what they do but they cost at least 2 times as much and most are twice the size(I like to keep the smallest pedalboard possible). If you are playing live no one will ever know or care if you have the $500 dollar analog pedal or this. The tap-tempo is a little different, but works fine once you understand it. If you are in need of a great delay, with the benefit of a lot of options than can sound digital or analog, I would highly recommend it!

In terms of ease of use of the modification, very easy. Just select how much high-cut you want and go. The rest of the pedal is quite easy to use, there's just lots of modes to do it. I got this pedal over other Boss ones for the built in tap tempo.

I play two main guitar setups: Fender Ash Tele or Warmoth H/S/H -> Boss GE-7 -> Doobtone Boss BD-2 -> Barber Direct Drive -> Indyguitarist Boss TR-> Boss DD-20 -> Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. The sound quality of this is great, thanks in part to two choices of cut. You can still have your digital delay or you can trim it down a bit. With the tap tempo of the pedal, it's really easy to get U2 Edge sounds very accurately. I did have a chance to compare this to both a DM-3 and the DD-20 (which has an analog emulation). In most cases, they both do a good job of capturing the DM-3 sound. In some bits if you are really listening the DD-6 will sound a little more sterile. For live purposes, no one would ever notice, I assure you of that. As you can see from the setup, I now use the DD-20. However, this was nothing against the high-cut mod. I wanted the memory settings and the separate tap tempo footswitch. If your pedal board space is restricted, I have no quarrels recommending this pedal.

No issues. Top quality workmanship. Obviously with the switch being at the top of the pedal, it is a little vulnerable, but that's your own fault if you break it.

Top quality! There is a reason Mike is doing so well. His customers like him because he likes them. I bought the pedal off ebay and had it shipped directly to him from the seller, and then on to me. He did this without any problems. He answered all my questions before I bought the mod, answering each one clearly. Fast and friendly = happy customers = happy review.

This modification is definitely worth it. Where else are you going to have tap tempo, up to 5 seconds of delay, and near enough analog type sound? In a Digitech X-Series? Tried that and no. If you need the small size, get it. This can get most U2 sounds without problems. But if you're really picky about getting things perfect like me, go for the DD-20, which also gives you the modulated delay and tape delay along with exact time dialing.

Mike's (aka. Analog Man) mod installs a 3-way mini-toggle switch into the existing Boss DD-6 to offer options in rolling the high end off the repeats to give the pedal a warmer, more analog type delay.
The toggle switch selects "Normal" (standard, crisp DD-6 delay tone), "Mild cut" (a mild rolloff in the highs), and "Deep-cut" (a deeper cut in the highs). So simple to use.

This is the next-to-last pedal in my pedalboard setup. My guitar goes into a Morley BH2 Wah, then Zinky True Grit - VS Jekyll&Hyde - Fulltone Choralflange - Shannon Phaser - Demeter Tremulator - Analog Man modded Boss DD-6, Xotic RC Booster. Guitars used range from Fenders to a Parker to a couple Ibanez's (Jem and RGT3120). The signal goes into either a Rivera M60 4x10 combo or a Fender DeVille 2x12. This modded pedal works just as good (read: fine and no problems) as the stock one with all my gear.
With the switch on the 'stock' setting, the DD-6 is as quiet as it was before- silent and completely stock sounding. My problem with the DD-6 was that the repeats actually sounded more present, bright, and thin than my origianl signal which made them more... present than I wanted them to be. I wanted a warmer delay, but one that didn't have the progressively darker repeats that an analog delay would have. Also, I loved the functionality and options of the DD6.
So, on to the 2 'new' settings available. The 'Mild-Cut' setting is absolutely perfect. Just enough of a high-end rolloff to make the pedal sound musical and not brittle. So smooth, clean & rich. This is the delay sound I was searching for. And like I said, no added noise, popping, or other unwanted issues. The 'Deep-Cut' is a real treat too- it's not muddy as you may think, being an increased high-end cut. This isn't like turning down a tone knob, it's only cutting more high end out; no effect on clarity. It's perfect for adding an almost reverb-y ambience that supports your original signal. I know I'm going to spend a lot of time using this setting as well! And again, it's musical, warm, and very clear sounding.

At its core, it's a Boss pedal. I would not have any hesitation to 'gig without a backup' for it. The toggle switch is integrated into the pedal, seems solid enough, haven't had any issues.

I play varied styles of music, and have been playing for 14 years now. I originally bought the DD-6 for its versatility and its compact size on the pedalboard compared to something like the Line6 delay modeler or Boss DD-20. But the tone was really lacking. With Mike's mod, the pedal is a true winner on all fronts now. I am so happy with the pedal now. I'm only giving it a '9' here because some people may thing $55 is a little pricey for a 'simple' hi-cut mod... add $10 for Mike's shipping back to you, and it's $65. But can you put a price on good tone? Like I told Mike, his mod saved the pedal from being removed from the pedalboard altogether. I went from frustrated by the pedal to absolutely loving it- and to me, it was completely worth it.
