Really easy, four knobs. Once you get the mid/tone balance set look out.

This is a vast improvement on the original. This is so much more musical than a Keeley DS-1, no offense to him but by replacing the drive chip in this and adding the mid knob this is much more versatile, and not buzzy sounding at all. Works very well with single coils. A tele into a Rivera 55 and an old 60's guild both yielded great results. Musical. Still allows the character of the guitar to come through. With a Keeley or stock DS-1 forget it, you are in a bee hive until you switch it off. Again, no offense, I have and have had many Keeleys and really do appreciate his work. His TR-2 mod is amazing, I still have that on my board. Drive boxes are subjective, as are all things musical. Again, this isn't a substitute for a nice Marshall amp, no box I have used even comes close to the sound of a high watt amp pushing itself into distortion, with a 4X12 or better speaker compliment. But for a small rig/board setup and versatility this is the pedal for heavier gain. Hell, it even does lower gain very well. Will be keeping this one.

This guy is great, he is very personable and I believe realizes how lucky he is to do what you want in life and get paid for it. You go man, more luck to you in this obamanomics economy!!

Buy this, you won't regret it. It still amazes me how Keeleys of this model hold their value better than Analogman. But how many of these come up used from Analogman?? NOT MANY!!! The Keeley Ultra/SEM is forever available used and plentiful. Hmm.. you do the math.

4 knobs, all obvious except the midrange control, which works fantastic. dialing in what you want is easy if the ds sound is your thing

I get on these boards a lot and wonder how many of the reviews are some bull****** from analogman or keeley or whoever just to either make the product sound better than it is or horrible in the worst sense...anyway just know i am honest and this is my own review...previous distortions I have to compare it to are the Keeley rat, absolutely analog big russian, bk butler tube driver, analogman sd-9 midrange, and many many others...this box is my favorite and wy I have finally written a review here. My primary distortion was my rat, but compared to the ds-1 it is fuller and has a fatter sound. However, I would say that the rat is more versitile, unless you get the midrange mod. this is my chain...boss rv-5, boss dd7, boss ch1 chorus, keeley tr-2 mod, moogerfooger ring modulator, xotic rc booster(just awesome.), a man ds-1, bk butler tube driver, and source audio hot hands wah. this thing is just awesome, im about to heasd to band practice (zoogma.net *******!) and im hoping this thing will sound to them like it does to me. If you get this I would highly reccomend the rrc booster by xotic, that pedal is so freaking great, but the two together will equal some of the best distortion sounds ive ever heard out of my hot rod deluxe, oh and im playing an Ibanez as-103 bm hollowbody with 13's...soley about the midrange mod...it increases volume and obviously adds midrange, i got analog mikes sd-9 midrange at first and i played three shows with it and honestly wish i hadnt, because this thing kicks its ***, unless the sd9 is your thing, then you might want to check it out, because i bought it due to hype and all...could have been my sound but it wasnt. there isnt a pedal that can do a marshall in a box so to say, and it is nearly impossible, but if your looking for satch, ej, haynes, vai, or just a good distortion sound, I wouldnt see why this wouldnt work in a number of different combinations.

sure its reliable, havent gigged yet, but if something happens drastic then I will write another review.

Customer Support : 10
always top notch and responds to every email i send him

Overall Rating : 9
just great, cant wait to play some gigs...price is high, but ive always paid extra for disto and overdrive boxes, and you get what you pay for here, i believe mike likes to keep his prices as low as he can
