Ease of Use : 10
As easy as it gets. Vol, Tone and Dist knobs.
One nice feature is the True Bypass that the Maxon line now features.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this with a Variety of Strats, Tyler, Grosh and most recently and amazing Fender EJ in White blonde.
THe pedal is extrememly quite and features True Bypass switching. Switching is totally silent.

I run this through a Maxon AD900 Delay into a Cornford Hurricane 20W combo. THe OD and distortion tnoes are just amazing with this pedal.
THere is a clarity about it and Mikes' mod just smooths it out and makes the Tone knob much more usable and versatile.

Low Gain sounds are very dynamic and they do not feature the typical TS9 style mid hump. The are very open and full frequency. I have trouble deciding if I should use this pedal for clean tones or Dist tones as it excels at both. The tones are girthy and throaty and have really nice upper harmonics.

The pedal is capable of some pretty good gain, not a metal pedal but think Scott Henderson style Fusion.

Reliability : 10
Maxon stuff is great and Mike's work is top notch.

Customer Support : 10
Mike is super responsive. I mailed the pedal out on Monday and got it back modded on Saturday of the same week.

Overall Rating : 10
I play a mix of Blues, Rock, Jazz, etc.
Been playing a long long time.
I would replace this pedal if lost.

Overall this is a great pedal that gets away from the traditional
TS9 style tones that are very middy.

This pedal has a nice open tone yet delivers Distortion that is not edgy or brittle, it has a very throaty tone.

Very easy, three knobs for tone, dist and vol. You have to experiment because there are many interesting combinations. About the tone knob, this is was answered me by Maxon: The tone control on the SD-9 is a low boost/hi boost, which means in the low position it boosts lows and as you get past the 12 o'clock position it boosts highs (just as you thought). Midrange is unaffected.....and I have to say it really works! the switch is true bypass

Sound Quality : 10
I use the pedal with the clean channel of a Budda Superdrive 30 and a Suhr Scott Henderson model (with humb.). The sound is really great! it's a bit compressed but allows very good dynamic nuances. It's really smooth as well. I set it with the gain at 2 o'clock, tone all the way down and vol. at 3-4 o'clock. With this set the sound is full, fat but clear at the same time. It does work really well with humbucking and does have less midrange and more bass of a tube screamer (which I have, Analog man mod and it's really great too) even though in acertain way you can say they belong to the same family. I think the description in the Analog man site is really faithfull.

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't know but it's a new pedal and seems to be very well built.

Customer Support : 10
The best I ever experienced! Every time I received a quick and complete answer to all my questions.

I'd definitely buy again if it were stolen. It's a great choice for hi gain blues sound but can clean up quite well also so you can use it for dirty fusion sound. really really great and versatile. Analog man did a great job
