Ease of Use : No Opinion
Very easy to use.

The Deluxe Memory Man is the best analog delay that you can buy.
With the analog Man mod, is perfect.
Transparent in your signal path.

Sound Quality : 10
Well, I think that I must evaluate the analog Man work.
Several rerviews talk about the sound of the Memory Man.
The Memory man sounds like sounds the Memory man, but the true bypass mod is excellent. Perfect.

About the quality sound of the Memory man, is amazing, wonderfull.
You get delays with modulations.
Delays like reverbs.
Fat delays.
Chorus or vibrato.
Other strange FX.
You have to putputs if you want (dry and fx).

Reliability : 10
Well, the support is incredible. The components are of the best quality.

First off I've got to say I love this pedal. 5 Knobs;

Level
Blend
Feedback
Delay
Chorus/Vibrato

It has true bypass and Mike also changes the LED into an on/off status LED.

Sound Quality : 9
Okay on to my setup:

Gibson SG Special, Epiphone Les Paul Standard (soon to be heavily modded), Squier Affinity Tele Special -> MXR Dyna Comp (Reissue) -> Guyatone WR-3 Wah Rocker -> Boss SD-1 (Tone-Jam modded) -> Boss DS-1(Keeley mod ... coming soon)-> Boss GE-7 (Tone-Jam "Sniper" mod ... coming soon) -> Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man -> Line 6 DL-4 -> Vox Cambridge 30 Twin Reverb (Heavily modded ... see my review)

I also might add a Line 6 Verbzilla. Mainly for the octo setting, anyways on with the review ...

I play music in the vein of U2 and Coldplay. So this pedal fits my style perfect. The Edge used this pedal on U2 records pre-The Unforgettable Fire, that's the main reason I really looked into this pedal. As the last reviewer said there is some High-end loss, but it is analog so it's to be expected. Overall it has a nice tone, very lush and spatial. I would recommend this pedal to anyone that is looking for a nice warm delay that isn't sterile sounding. This pedal is great for building soundscapes. My Line 6 Delay Modeler is great but it can't touch the Memory Man's organic sound.

Reliability : 8
This thing is very nicely built. Built pretty tough, had it for about 2 years. I had a problem on it recently and had it fixed. I e-mailed Mick Davis (creator of many of Electro-Harmonix pedals). He told me from the problem I described it was a bad capictor and switch.

I then contacted Electro-Harmonix and they fixed it for $15.00. Since the warantee had long run out. No problems again.

Customer Support : 10
Very good support. When I had a problem Mike pointed me in the right direction, he was very helpful. Great guy to deal with.

Electro-Harmonix is a good company too. Great customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, all I can say is buy this pedal. The mod fixes the few problems this pedal has. If it were stolen I would buy it again in a heart beat. Another good delay I would recommend is the Line 6 DL-4 Delay Modeler. While it mimics the memory man, it is nothing compared to the real thing. But none the less another great unit, for what it does.

Anyways, I walked into this pedal without trying it. But I knew the good reputation the Memory Man had. I'm very pleased. Now go buy one and visit www.guitargeek.com

Ease of Use : 9
There are lots of musically useable sounds on this unit, and lots of weird options as well. Mike's mod ups the usability factor by converting the Power On light to the more standard Effect On light, and making the swich true bypass.

Sound Quality : 9
The unit is invisible when bypassed. When the effect is on, there is definitely some high-end loss, which is to be expected in an analog delay. The controls are very interactive, so it takes a bit of tweaking to get to know the settings that will work for you. It's a fun pedal to play with, however, and the tweaking is part of the fun.

Reliability : 10
Never had a problem with a pedal purchased from Mike, but based on his customer support, I'm not worried about it.

Customer Support : 10
Mike is patient and supportive while you're kicking tires. He answers his emails very promptly. His website is plain, honest, straightforward, and full of tons of interesting and useful info on pedals. Mike deserves and 11 for customer support.

Overall Rating : 9
This is a pedal that was always fun to play with but hard to use live because of the tone suck and lack of "on" light. Mike's mod has made it a viable tool for live use. There is still some high-end loss when the unit is on, but the fun factor and great warm delay are enough to make it all good. I looked for an analog delay for a long time. I considered them all: Aqua Puss (too expensive and elusive), DM2 and AD9 ( there is no way I'm paying $200 bucks for a 25 year old beat up pedal!), AD9 reissue ($400!!?? Are you insane??!!) Maxon AD900 (too expensive and uses a funky-watted adapter). Finally I was down to 2 finalists: The EH Mem Man and the Maxon AD80 (recently discontinued). The EH wins hand down in the fun/funky factor. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to by Mike's EH Mem Man again!

this mod corrects the high end[treble] loss endemic to these re-issues. it also includes a true-bypass switch.the controls remain the same except that the power indicator LED goes off when the unit is bypassed.

Sound Quality : 10
the rig goes 62'reissue strat w/fralins>keely compressor>rmc3>keely moded turbo ts9>memory man>fender reverb tank>66'bassman>2x12fender custom shop cab
the sound of this rig makes angels weep.
the analogman mod makes the memory man a fair rival to the echoplex.dead quiet in bypass.chorus/vibrato feature became more usable.overall much greater transparency.punchy &shimmery.tremendous improvement.

Reliability : 10
had it about 2 months. so far so good. far more reliable than an echoplex.

mike's a standup guy. E-mail often answered within the hour.turnaround was within 1week.

Overall Rating : 10
i play various incarnations and configurations of jazz, blues, rock& etc.
i've been playing 18 years and i'll tell you this- tone is half the game.
essential mod to this otherwise dust magnet
the memory man is capable of many strange and beautiful things. this mod makes those things achiveable in a live context.very musical.
anything else i'd like to share? well.........i once met the owner /founder of electro-harmonix. he had a 3' long rope of saliva hanging out of the tip of his cigar. seemed like a nice guy though....i guess this is'nt really relevant.
