Worth noting is that I also own an Analogman Sun Face NKT-275 pedal which runs on only batteries. You can read about batteries and fuzz pedals at the Analogman web site:
http://www.analogman.com/fuzzface.htm
The Captain Coconut 2 runs on a 9VAC power supply.
The Sun Face pedal is really great sounding and I was apprehensive about how the same circuit would sound using a power supply so I asked Mike Piera about it and he replied that the power supply in the CC2 is very good and it should sound fine. It did - the card in the CC2 sounds just like the Sun Face NKT-275 pedal
The only difficult part about getting a good sound out of both the CC2 card and the pedal is that the input gain control is located inside so you need to open up either pedal to access it. I spent quite a bit of time balancing that out on the pedal and needed to so again on the card. After it's set, there's no further need to mess with it though.

Excellent. I like to play with a more mellow fuzz tone that's not over the top so the germanium transistors work well for me. I have several other pedals that are all various Fuzz Face clones and the Analogman Sun Face NKT-275 (both card and standalone pedal) is my favorite. Very rich and smooth with no trace of brittleness.
I use it almost exclusively with my Strat but it sounds pretty good with my LP as well if a bit too thick depending on what I'm doing. I run it into a Mesa Stiletto Deuce head with a 2x12 cab using the "clean" channel.
It's a fuzz so there's going to be some noise when you start cranking up the fuzz control but it's pretty quiet for a gain effect. With the milder settings I use, it's very quiet.

I've been using Analogman and Foxrox pedals for several years and none of them have failed me yet. They're all constructed very well and I feel confident enough to go without a backup.

I play rock and roll (covers and originals) and the pedal works great for when I want a fuzz effect.
I've been playing for 25 years.
I'd replace it in a heartbeat.
Love the sound. Only complaint is that internal gain setting I mentioned earlier.
I compared it to the stock card and the vintage germanium PNP which I also own. It's been a while since I used the vintage germanium PNP, but I recall the NKT-275 having a little more bottom end to it than that one and bit more mellow sounding than the stock hybrid.

I found this pretty easy to use - which reflects the quality of Dave Fox's design in the Captain Coconut. It was really easy to install, and the simplicity of the controls made it very easy to dial in the sound I was looking for.

The Captain Coconut's stock hybrid fuzz card is really quite cool. It sounds really nice, and is a great balance between the warmer sounds of Ge, and the hot and sizzling sounds of a Si. However, it wasn't quite as warm or responsive (read: low gain) as I like.
I decided to give AnalogMan's NKT-275 fuzzcard a shot based on the reviews and accounts of his NKT-275 Sunface. I chose the NKT-275 over the regular "Vintage Germanium" because I liked the clips of the NKT-275 transistors compared to the regular Ge on Analog Man's site.
I'm very happy with the NKT fuzzcard. The NKT-275 has a great tone that is really warm and dynamic (dynamics in a fuzz? that's right!). It responds really well to both pick attack and guitar volume - more so than the stock card. It has no "fizz" or "sizzle" that I typically don't care for in a fuzz.
This is the kind of fuzz tone I was after (lower gain and warmer), so I'm really happy.
In my opinion, this fuzz sounds best through a loud, somewhat distorted amp. It does sound good into a purely clean amp too.

The PCB looks top notch - plated through holes, shielded ground planes, etc. The components are really high quality, and the soldering job looked phenomenal. I believe Dave Fox assembles this design, and just like Mike's pedals...the quality is top notch.
Regarding the CC2 itself, its extremely durable. Just holding it, you know you're working with a piece of durable equipment. FoxRox is quality stuff, without a doubt.

Both Analog Man and Dave Fox were really helpful in helping me pick this stuff out. They're very friendly and do a great job of helping you find the tools to help you get what you're looking for.
I've had nothing but great experiences with both AnalogMan and FoxRox.

I play a lot of different styles of music. I've been playing for 11-12 years (I think...) and have been giving lessons for a year.
I have a Dr. Z Prescription ES and a VHT Deliverance D60H. The Dr. Z goes into an Avatar openback w/ Weber Alnico Silver Bell and Blue Dog. The VHT goes into a matching VHT D412.
Pedal-wise, right now my boards have an RMC Picture Wah with FoxRox Wah Retrofit, FoxRox Captain Coconut 2 w/ NKT-275 fuzz card, Tonebone Switchbone, VHT Valvulator, Analog Man Bi-Comp, Analog Man King of Tone v4, Ibanez TS-808 w/ Analog Man True Vintage Mod, MXR Phase 90 script, Ross Flanger, Analog Man Bi-Chorus, Boss TR-2 w/ Analog Man Super Mod, T-Rex Replica, and EH Holy Grail.
I understand that straight 10s is suspicious, but I seriously doubt that I could be more happy with this fuzz. I absolutely love my Captain Coconut 2, and having this card installed really sealed the deal for my tastes in fuzz tone. I find it much more natural to play through this than the other fuzzes I've had in the past.
