I disagree with the critics and agree with the more knowledgeable and unbias supporters of this unique sound processor. The APHEX aurel exciter does what it claims. It enhances and improves the definition, clarity and "spatial imaging" of any sound system, be it a dj system to home theatre applications using RADIO SHACK 1/4 inch to RCA PHONO plug adapters to connect home stereo equipment. I have been using various sound/signal processors since 1980 such as OMNISONIC IMAGER, CARVER SONIC HOLOGRAPHY to DBX noise reductions and range expanders. This piece of equipment broadens the dynamics of any audio set up.

USED FOR HOME THEATRE and audio applications. Mixed with a PYRAMID amplifier, equalizer, CARVER sonic holography, ACOUSTIC RESEARCH TDS-202 enhancer and SRSLABS pro-220 spatial enhancer, using high end PIONEER home theatre receiver. The sound is amazing. Even when every other processors is bypassed, the APHEX aurel exciter and big bottom produces dynamics that are beyond any built in processors from preamps, receivers or integrated amps. In fact, this processor is unique in it's functions and capabilities. A must have for the serious audiophile, DJ, and professional musician, sound engineer and audio enthusiast.

As advertised by the manufacturer, it delivers what it promises to do.
Those who criticizes it does not have the experience and technical knowledge to fully test and review this product in a fair and concise manner, but only for the discerning audio guru. Can be used for any applications.

I listen to a variety of music, and this processor improves the overall quality of my high end speaker performance.
I have only been using this item for a few months, but it is performing flawlessly.
I would purchase another immediately, if this item was lost/stolen.
I love the new technology embedded into this system and the wide dynamics it produces.
Cannot really compare it to the BBE maximizer and other related processors, cause the impression this made gives me no reason for any other of the type.
I only wished this item's circuitry was common in other audio components, not necessarily pro-audio.
This not only improves the music but brings out all the lost signals in the processing of amplified music.
I would recommend any audio enthusiast and non-bias professional dj, musician, home theatre engineer and audiophile to experiment with this equipment with an objective and balance approach.
Highly recommended for audio-enthusiast especially for sound reproduction and recording. Great for home theatre use. Digital processing is not enough, despite all the processors built-in a receiver.

I'm a DJ. I do mostly house partys and small halls. I thought my speakers were just piece of crap...I bought this 104 C2, hooked it up and WOW!!! I could not believe the differance...this thing is awsome...I bought it used but it works just fine, but it pops when I turned it on through the speakers.

I play mostly African Music and we need the Big Bottom so it's a good match.
I'v been DJ' for about four years.
If I lost my unit I would be at the store the next day to get another on RIGHT NOW!!!
I love the way it change my sound.
I hate nothing about it.
The big bottom is my favorite feature.
My DJ friend have the Maximizer and it cannot compare to the Aural/BB.
To me it has everything I need.
It helps my music.
I can't do without it now and I called all my DJ friends over to check out the sound quality of my system...They use to laugh at my sound but no more...

Just a bit of experimenting and common sense , I got the hang of using it.
The processing indicators could be confused for clip (overload) indicators.

The sound quality is very good, I think the first reviewer was getting confused, saying:[they always seem to turn on, ....effect is weak] The leds are meant to turn on. If you read the manual, it tells you that the unit is processing when these light up. ...They arnt clip indicators. This could also be why someone had noise problems. Read the manual clowns.

If I was to compare it with the BBE, it is fairly different to the BBE, I prefer the bass effect of the C2/big bottom, although I would more likely use the top end effect of the BBE.

I have not dealt with the company. I have however used the c2 aural exiter (older unit) and still have it it always amazes me on it's performance it is great.I was going to send both 104 units back until I tried the one at the music store that seemed as weak as mine.

I found this to not be a good match on any thing I used It for.I have bought $20,000 in the last 7 years and this was the biggest waste of money I ever spent.I bought this on the recommendation of a friend of mine who does sound but also sold these units retail.
I have used products from aphex that others own and they were great but the Aphex 104 with big bottom is not one of them.

Not as easy to use as a BBE sonic maximizer, but still very easy to use. Two controls for each channel, Tune and Mix. No sweat.

I've read other reviews on this, and this unit is NOT noisy. You just have to pay attention to the Tune and Mix controls. Unlike a BBE, this is not meant to just plug in and instantly make your sound better. You must experiment with the tune control to enhance the frequency range you desire. Enhancing the wrong frequency range CAN result in noise and/or a harsh sound depending on the type of instrument or music. The beauty of this unit is that it is much more flexible than a BBE.

I've owned a BBE and I sold it to get the Aphex. I don't regret it for a second. The BBE tended to enhance to much of the midrange of music and I thought it was harsh. That is why I prefer the Aphex. You can tune in the frequency you are enhancing and the results are much more silky smooth and natural. Just take the time to listen and decide which frequencies need enhanced and you won't be disappointed. And keep that mix control at a reasonable level! Great piece of equipment.
