Ease of Use

Just purchased one of these (used) cheap on ebay to try with my solid state bass amps--- an Eden wt-550B and a Genz-Benz GBE600. I wanted to level the string to string balance on my basses and see what this "invisible" auto-level, auto-compress/limit feature was all about. Well, this thing couldn't be easier to operate, just plug it in and set your levels, the unit does almost everything else automatically.
I plugged it into the effects loop and tried it on each amp and set the levels to unity gain. It really is invisible! but it does exactly what they say, it levels every note to be the same volume. it seems to add more fullness and punch to all of the notes as well!
Since my bass's volume control is less effective (going thru all that compression/limiting) i patched a Morley little alligator volume pedal to the output of the compellor and then returned that to the amp's receive jack. now i can push the compellor hard and control my volume after the effect.

It makes all of my basses (i have 15 different ones) sound more full, punchy and balanced with less noticable dead spots. it is super quiet, so you hardly even know that it's on and basically, you can't get a bad sound out of it.

I play alot of styles of music (mostly 60-70's rock) and it just makes my bass sound smoother, fuller and with more sustain. it definitely makes any bass sound more like a record. i've tried alot of other compressors but they seem to squash my bass and make it pump, this one does not. in a way, it's subtle, but when you bypass it, you wonder how you lived without it.
