Ease of Use

It's very hard to find any information about this small pedal board. I guess it's from the late 80's or early 90's. It contains DIGITAL DELAY, CHORUS, DISTORTION and OVERDRIVE. It's very easy to use, the small buttons are easy to manipulate and the switches work fine, altough the board is completely in plastic. I bought it in Belgium in 1996.

I use the APE-4 in combination with a SESSION SESSIONETTE 95 amplifier and play a FENDER "Jimmie Vaughan" STRATOCASTER and a EPIPHONE KORINA '58 EXPLORER REISSUE. I bought it as a low budget board some years ago and for me is served to create some "The Edge noise" in my living room or at small gigs, so I don't have to bring out my rack and pedal effects. The digital delay (up to 450 ms) is a bit noisy, it produces a light, flanging hum. The chorus and distortion/overdrive work fine, altough of course a bit "light", compared to Boss SD-1 and OD-2R pedals. My Boss FA-1 and MXR Dynacomp pedals help me to boost my clear Strat-sound.

Untill today it has never let me down, but it's no "tank" like the Boss gear. It's a pity it's completely in plastic. The only advantage : it's light as a feather.

I used it a few time on stage to play some "early U2" covers. It did quiet well, but it's of course nothing compared to a few Boss pedals in combination with a Korg SDD-3000. But as I already said, it's great for a demanding beginner, for home use or even for small gigs. The digital delay is warm and 450 ms is long enough for most stuff.
