Pretty basic. Four knobs, level, gain, contour and tone. Actually it took a couple of days before I found my sound. Manual is very good, you'll find it all from there.

Sound Quality : 9
My main guitar at the moment is a Tokai Les Paul LS-75 made in Japan and I have a Marshall 2203 JCM800 through Marshall 4x12 cabinet. The pedal itself is great, but it's wayy better if you use it as a boost because it can only produce classic rock distortion. If you use a clean channel and the soloist distortion is your only distortion, it's great for AC/DC (sounds like a Marshall Vintage Modern!) but this doesn't have much gain so you can forget modern rock and metal sounds. But as a boost for Marshall distortion with some reverb and wah added, this thing is a monster.

Reliability : 10
Actually I didn't know anything about Artec until i bought this pedal. It's rock solid, I need no backup for this one! And it's built very well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them and I think I never will :)

Overall Rating : 10
I play Alternative Rock, Blues, Metal, etc. This pedal is good for rock, blues and classic rock sounds like AC/DC for example... It's great for soloing if you have some reverb added. Even though I don't like this pedal at all because I thought it could produce modern rock sounds, it's still a great pedal. I wouldn't buy it again because it's not into my sound actually, but it's the best pedal I've ever had. It's cheap, and sounds like a tube distortion. There's no way you could get any pedal for that price, which sounds like this! Real classic rock distortion and monster for soloing too! I actually don't use it at all, but when I play AC/DC covers, this is the one to deliver the goods!!!

Easy to use. Start by using the manual's settings and go from there.

Sound Quality : 9
Sound is very good, not noisy. I use it thru a Champ amp and a Vox amp somtimes both together with a stereo chorus. Strat, Tele, Les Paul. I use it to play chords for a Crazy Horse black noise, Solo to play over my recorded tracks. It is pretty veresitile and allot les expensive than a fuzzface and others. Tons better than a Muff. It does not lose it's effect at low levels. You can mellow it out but I like it for that dark noise. It matches good with my Tele and it's 51 nocaster pups for lots of classic rock solos.

Reliability : 9
Owned it for a few months no problems. Very sturdy should live longer than me.

Customer Support : 7
I emailed them once in Korea for advice but support never heard of Clapton I don't think. Fast response and nice people.

Overall Rating : 8
For the price you can't go wrong. I suspect this will be a part of many peoples pedal boards in the future. Ya just can't diss it. I would replace it if it were stolen. It should help your music it helped mine.

Very easy to use. Controls for Level, Tone, Gain and Contour.

I'm using this with a strat into a Vox AC15 Handwired and I got to say I'm blown away by this pedal...you can buy one of these with the change left over in your pocket after a night at the pub! This thing sounds great. It loves to be driven by other pedals which is what I do with it...I run a Ladipo Pride & Joy or a Greer Sonic Boom or a Monsterpiece NPN fuzz set for semi clean boost into the Artec and I get the most wonderful saturated high gain tone!! Actually this is the best high gain tones I ever had from analog pedals, if you are thinking about buying one of these do it! I've also got pedals by Radial, CMATMODS (which are awesome) and I've bought and sold loads more, this Artec pedal has an incredible attack, sounds amazingly good and is one of the best distortion pedals I've used.

Reliability : No Opinion
so far so good.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
This is my favourite distortion pedal!....for the money this thing costs it has to be the best value I ever had from a pedal, another great thing about it is the contour control which means it can probably be dialed in to suit any Amp, I have been searching a long time for an analog pedal that would give me the sort of thick saturated but clean singing distortion that I need and I would never of thought it possible that I could have that tone in a pedal that cost so little....I love this pedal!

Excellent pedal, easy to get a good sound out of. The manual is a review of all Altec??s pedals written in very poor English (well, I??m not a native English speaker either, but it??s really pitiful). Never mind, like most guitarists I just plugged it in and started twirling the knobs - no problem

Sound Quality : 9
I use this together with my old Marshall Guvnor in the effect loop of my Boss GT-3. This give me a choice for solos, coz the Soloist can get a brighter sound than the Guvnor, thereby cutting through in a heavy band. I play a Gibson RD Artist through a Marshall Bluesbreaker amp with a Marshall Power Brake, and I can now get all the sounds I need. The effect can be a little noisy when cranked, but not any worse than the Guvnor.

Reliability : 10
It seems very sturdy and I use it without back-up

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have no idea who Artec is, but a good local shop sells a lot of their stuff, so I expect no problems. Does anyone know if the Artec Soloist Distortion is the same as the Washburn Soloist Distortion?

Overall Rating : 10
I have played many types of music and was very satisfied with my set-up - inspired by Gary Moore - until I joined a very heavy band a few months ago. I quickly realized that I needed a heavier lead sound at low volume and the Artec is perfect for cutting through. I would certainly buy one if it was stolen, also because it??s pretty cheap.

Tone, Volume, Contour, Gain. Very easy!

Sound Quality : 10
I use strats, fender tube amps, this thing is the total package. From blues sounds to metal sounds all is in here. Crank the contour to full, set the gain to 9 or 10 o'clock, volume to taste, tone 10-11 o'clock. The sound and tone gives you Zakk Wylde meets SRV. A very sensitive pedal too..

Reliability : 10
This stays all the time for now..

Very helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
Blues/rock/funk, I have been using all kinds of pedals from tubescreamers to boss pedals to boutique pedals, this one is hard to beat. Cheap price, too cheap, does not sound like the price.
