It is a fuzz. If it is hard for oyu to use, I fear for you.

That classic fuzz sound that I have been searching for. The best sounding fuzz I have ever used. "Satisfaction" in a box. The Stones should use it on tour. It would make them sound more like themselves.

Two knobs: Volume and Depth. Depth controls the bias of the fuzz. Volume controls the gain. Very easy to get a good sound out of. No manual, none necessary.

True-bypass and built in AC jack are very nice touches, essential for a 9-volt-free pedalboard.

Sound Quality : 10
Does only one thing and does it very well: FUZZ! Not especially tweakable, but at the same time it has a lot of range. You can go from a huge, chunky, wall-of-fuzz to trebly, nasal, mosquito tones. If there's a fuzz tone in your head, you can probably get it out of this pedal. Contains all the classic sounds from all those Nuggets-type singles and many of the Stones and Mudhoney sounds as well.

I am using a Gibson L6-S through an Ampeg VL-502 through a 2x12. FuzzBrite plays very well with other pedals, surprisingly, allowing for some even bigger "cascading" fuzz and distortion tones. Try it with a clean boost or a linear power booster in front for some seriously out-of-control tones.

Not particularly noisy, especially for a fuzz. There is noise at high-gain settings, but... it's a mid-60's fuzz clone! That's part of the deal.

Oh... I forgot to say that this pedal sounds FANTASTIC! I had a big smile on my face the first time I plugged it in. Excellent.

Very solidly built. Someday I may use it to protect my family.

Definitely would depend on it without a backup.

Customer Support : 10
I bought the pedal directly from Ashley Bass (via eBay) and he was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely buy from him again. Although I've had no problems with the pedal, I expect that he would take care of any problems.

Overall Rating : 10
I play punk-influenced rock music (Mudhoney, Pixies, Buzzcocks, etc.) This pedal fits into my sound well. I have been playing for 13 years. I've been through a lot of equipment. Other pedals on the board at the moment are my beloved Keeley Katana, Electro-Harmonix LPB-1, Big Muff Pi (Sovtek Green), Small Stone (Sovtek Green) and Analogman-modded Boss DD-6.

If the Fuzzbrite were stolen or lost, I would get another one. I've tried a lot of other fuzztones over the years and have been disappointed with all but this and the Everman Audio FuzzDrive (which is a little more of a Swiss Army Knife). The Fuzzbrite is the most honest and authentic fuzz I've heard from a boutique maker, blows the mass-produced fuzzes out of the water, and the price is very reasonable.

The only thing I wish the Fuzzbrite had is an on/off LED. Not really a big deal, and not really necessary for a pedal with such a distinctive sound.

If you want the FUZZ, this is the pedal. No B.S. No contest. Enjoy!

SRV and Hendrix are a snap with the FUZZbrite. Vintage sound is welcome and the new pedals cannot come close.

yes and yes.

Great communications. Helpful and honest.

classic rock pre-1983, oldies, blues a la Clapton and SRV. one-fourth the cost of a vintage FUZZrite with the same sound and quality.
Pedalboard requires ac adaptor hookup and battery backup.
I bought this as a vintage rebuilt setup so I'll call this a custom built pedal......but anybody can have one.

Ease of use? Volume & depth..whats to know?

I have several high end fuzz pedals that are good in there own right but this bad boy has THAT TONE for half the price.I ran it for the first time last night with a good strat into a Peavey 100 watt twin and right away was in that vintage Seeds/Iron Butterfly tonality.

I'm an electronic tech by trade, the insides look well put together,I will however put in a battery clip. The maker did this to stay inline with the original.

I played rock music from 1964 to 1976 and then quit due to job and family needs. I am now going to relive my youth. I used a Mosrite fuzz box all that time and wanted one like it. I am very happy with the Ashbass Fuzzbrite because it sounds just like my Mosrite. Next week I will have purchased another Gibson guitar and will go looking for more "old guys" to jam with. Thanks for keeping the Mosrite sound alive.

So easy a caveman could do it.

I play with a schecter c-1 classic>phase 90> boss bf-3> fuzzbrite> line six 75watt amp and i get some crazy tripadelic tones coming out of that thing. All by itself the Fuzzbrite gets atrociously greasy and raunchy- it's awesome. If i were tripping I'd probably start seeing biker chicks all over me. That alone should persuade you to buy one of these.

Reliability : 10
I mostly just jam in my garage with some friends, but if this were the only fuzz i owned i would definitely not worry about bringing a backup to a gig. The housing is very strong and sturdy and withstands alot of abuse with hardly any wear, and no tear whatsoever.

Customer Support : 10
Ashley was incredibly easy do deal with. I emailed him a few times and i always received quick and polite responses. I'm sure he would help if anything major happened in the future, though i doubt anything will.

Overall Rating : 10
I love to play blues, psychedelic, and classical music. If this pedal were stolen i would be ordering another one within hours of killing the thief. There's no tone loss whatsoever. This pedal is like a solid platinum chainsaw going through watermelon- if you know what i mean, and it nails the No Quarter/Ventures/most any 60's fuzz sound perfectly. I also own an MJM London fuzz, which is equally as fantastic, but they're pretty much 2 different animals. Well maybe like a giraffe and a camel.

One knob controls depth, the other controls volume. You have an input jack and an output jack and an input for AC power. Does it get any better?

Sound Quality : 10
This thing has the authentic sound of the original Fuzzrites and it you don't have to take out a second mortgage on your house to get one!
Nokie Edwards(of The Ventures)used one of these from the late 60s onward. It has a very raw and trashy sound sound, it almost makes your amp sound like its broken, which I like. It really "electrify's" your sound. It makes your guitar sound powerful. It sounds it's best when driven with a couple of soapbars. You absolutely cannot find a better fuzzz on the market today. This is a 60s Fuzz. I've been searching for a Fuzz like this since I was a teenager but I never could afford a Fuzzrite since they are so rare. I never noticed any buzzing or humming, its very quiet and when disengaged it doesn't change the sound of my guitar. With the depth set all the way up it really gives you a lot of bite. I tested it with a Dillion DMG75 with Mosely pickups in it. Overall, I LOVE THE SOUND OF THIS THING!!!

It's build very solid. The switch seems pretty hefty and all. I like the position of the knobs, they are like the original Fuzzrites, however I can see how they might get broken off so you'd want to be careful where you place it on stage. But I still wouldn't have it any other way. As far as having a backup, my effects chain consists of:
1) Boss MT-2 Metal Zone; 2) DOD 250 Preamp; 3) Rocktron Austin Gold; 4) Rocktron Pulse Tremelo; 5) Ibanez Tone-Lok DE7 Delay/Echo; 6) Danelectro Spring King Reverb; 7) Boss RV-5 Reverb. Since I have three other overdrive/distortion units I think I'd be ok...but if I didn't need those other pedals for certain songs I would trust the Fuzzbrite by it's self. But I won't really know until I actually practice with it and take it on a few gigs. I know I'll definately be recording with it. So I won't rate this until I've tested it in the field.

My pedal arrived almost an entire week late, but thats not Ashley's fault. He kept in good contact with me and was getting ready to send me another one but mine showed up in the mail finally. I'm sure I'll get support in the future should this unit fry up on me...

I'm 22 years old and have been playing since I turned 13. I grew up listening to older music and I learned to play by listening to my dad's Ventures LPs. I'm very old fashioned and I don't like hardly newer music. I have owned so many guitars since I started playing that I've got a pretty good idea what to look for, of course everyone's opinion is different. I've played Jazzmasters, Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, SGs, Mosrites(my dad's), 335s, Parkers...etc...my arsenal now consists of a Yamaha EG303 with California Lace Sensor pickups, Planet Waves Trim-Lock tuners, Trem-setter Tremelo Stabilizer..etc..., a standard Telecaster, a Jay Turser(Rickenbacker copy w/ Ric pickups)12 string, a Les Paul, Eastwood HiFlyer, and a Dillion DMG75. (That's my electric setup. I don't have time to talk about my acoustic guitars) I play mostly my own original music but if I were going to try to define the style I would say somewhere between The Ventures, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, The Band, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers is where you'll find my stuff.

Ashbass's Fuzzbrite. One volume, one depth, one input, one output. Very easy to use - just plug in and play. The combination of the pedal and your guitar's volume control is all you need to get what you want. With the addition of true bypass and a power input, Ashley Bass hasnt just built a replica of the Morisite Fuzzrite, its an improvement.

Sound Quality : 10
This may not be a pedal for everyone, but if you like your fuzz sound to spit, then you should give this a go. Not only can it spit, but if you spend some time playing around with it, you can get The Venture's live guitar sound!

Reliability : 8
Well its in a metal casing so it will last. It doesnt look like the pedal will break anytime soon.
Only thing i have to say is that there is nothing to hold the battery inside. So if you pick up or shake the pedal, the battery will fly around. You can easily sort this problem out yourself by adding a piece of foam inside.

Customer Support : 10
sent an email to Ashley Bass with questions, and i got a reply within a couple of hours. You cant beat that!

A fantastic Fuzz pedal which im keeping on in my set up! Its the only fuzz pedal of its kind! I recommend this to all my friends.

Very easy to get a very good sound out of. Just two knobs- volume and depth

Sound Quality : 10
It sounds like an old school-style fuzz ought to sound. I use it when I want the sound of late sixties biker movie soundtracks. It sounds like the real deal.

I use it with a variety of guitars- Silvertone U1, G&L SC-3, Gretsch Clipper, Peavey T-60, Gretsch Country Classic, Heritage H137, 1956 Gibson ES-175D, Fender 52 reissue Telecaster, Gibson Firebird V, Alamo Fiesta, Harmony Stratotone. I use a Tone King Meteor II, Fender Deluxe Reverb, Ampeg VT-40, Fender Vibro Champ.

Reliability : 10
It seems solidly made. I could use it without a backup.

Very good communication.

I play alot of different kinds of music- country, rock, blues, surf, rockabilly, spaghetti western, psychedelic. I have been playing thirty years. If this fuzz were stolen I would get another one just like it. I am very pleased with my Ashbass Fuzzbrite.

I found it very easy to get a good sound out of this pedal all within a matter of minutes. There was no manual, box, or rubber feet on the bottom, but hey it's only a piece of metal with two knobs. How hard could it be right?

Sound Quality : 9
I don't know if this could be called a "one-stop" fuzz for everyone but the trebly, spitty, nasaly, and nasty sounds I have found inside this home-made wonder have officially ended my search for Fuzz and as a matter of fact it shelfed my modded ProCo Rat and all other fuzzes.
I found that this effect plays well with every other box in my chain (delay, phase, OD, whatever) but it seems to sound better when it is placed before my Wah. Wah before FuzzBrite equals Mush but FuzzBrite before Wah equals tonal bliss. Pretty much the standard location for any good Fuzz.
There is absolutely no noise or hiss when it's on (just it's own fuzziness)and clear sailing when off. Not even a hint that it's even there.
I'm currently using this with a Solid State Fender Bassman it sounds great. Sustain until the cows come home, and plenty of gain/volume on tap. I have the Volume set to 7-8 and the Depth to 8 and with only minor adjustments to my guitar's volume knob, I can get a wide range of tones from old-school OD, to 60's biker/spaghetti westerns, to modern day crazy. All within a few quick twists of two knobs. No 3, 4, or more needed with this box.

Reliability : 9
The FuzzBrite is stuffed into a solid steel, little larger than normal, Hammond Box. It's got some girth, but not in a bad way and all of the jacks/plugs seem to be top-of-the-line.
I haven't dug around the insides yet but outside of the missing foam & battery support, it seems to be all right.
Yeah, I would gig without a backup. As a matter of fact, it seems that this FuzzBrite would survive with the coachroaches if the big one ever hit.

Customer Support : 10
Ashley was very personalable and quickly answering any and all of my questions. I wondered if the FuzzBrite could be used with a standard Boss style adapter, 'cause the old Germaniums need a reverse type or you blow up the box and I didn't want to ruin a good thing. Anyway, I received a personal response the same day explaining that the Boss style would work fine and that he/she is currently using one with a MT-2 after the FuzzBrite.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm currently playing what used to be called "Alternative". You know, Nirvana, Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Helmet, etc. This pedal may not be a good match for modern-day cover bands but with some creative tweaking this could be the anti-Big Muff Pi that finally gives me my own unique tone.
I've been playing both bass and guitar for about 4 years and my current setup is the following:
Ashbass FuzzBrite-->Crybaby Classic-->ProCo Rat-->MXR Phase 90-->Boss DD-3-->Fender Bassman
If this Fuzz was ever stolen, I'd definately buy another one. I believe that this is definately my "never leaves the board" fuzz.
I love the tone, size and durability but would like to see the knobs in a easier to reach place for quick changes on the fly. Not a big deal, just takes a little longer to the tone your audience will love.
I've been on a hunt for fuzz since I first picked up a guitar. Frankly, all of that mushy, no-mids, bass heavy Fuzz left me constantlt wanting more. So after going through many mass-produced and botique fuzzes this hand-built wonder finally ended my quest for fuzz.
This is a GREAT fuzz. Although it may not be the Fuzz for everyone or good for modern music cover bands, it will lead you to create music and new and very interesting ways.
Hey, for the value the AshBass FuzzBrite just can't be beat.
I hope that AshBass continues to grow and will start to offer additional effects on par with this one.
