Thank god for this site! Otherwise I would'nt know anything (lost the manual, none on net that I can find)! I came here to find out if I could power a 12VAC mixer in my rack with it. The answer was no. I hate my Line 6 Pro delay! I hate my straight signal being digitized! Why don't they build midi-programmable analog mixers into effects? I dont mind my delays being digital, but my straight signal? Agh! Thanks for the opportunity to vent.

Sound Quality : 10
The best. Zero noise. Never seen better. Too bad it's not made anymore (as far as I can tell)

Reliability : 10
Has'nt failed yet.

The customer seems to have ceased to exist. That would preclude customer support, I believe.

I am an fx junkie who has had to become practical in the live rig. This thing makes practicality optional. I like that. You can power more pedals than you would probably ever use. I have played for 22 years. This is much better than buying batteries.

Well I haven't used the VBat or needed any voltage other than 9V yet, so it's easy. Plug and play surprisingly.

Many power options. Power for up to 11 pedals.

Features beautifully described below.

Sound Quality : 10
Top notch. No noise. All pedals powered perfectly.
What more is there for it to do?

Reliability : 10
If you treat it like your pedals it'll be fine. Build quality is good. It's low profile doesn't hog space or cry out for attention.

Customer Support : 10
Even getting nice email from a company constitutes good service these days. So, top marks. Tom asked if I had any suggestions for improvements to his product. I thik that shows the respect he has for his customers (I couldn't offer any decent suggestions though).

Overall Rating : 10
This is actually indispensable now. It was expensive but in Australia even a VL Pedal Power is more money. So I ordered this direct.

It just saves so much time worrying about the health of batteries.

I really, really like it. Ssorry I can't be more help that that. It's a power supply and a perfect one at that.

Pretty straightforward. There are four isolated channels of DC and one dedicated 9V AC output at the back of the unit. Two of the DC channels are set for 9V DC and each of them has four outputs. These four outputs are not individually isolated, but this has never led to any trouble for me. The third DC output can be set for either 9V or 18V with a dip switch under the unit. The fourth output has three options; either straight 9V DC, 13.2 V as used for certain Boss pedals that require the ACA-type power supply (DM3 and DM2 come to mind), *or* ADL's VBat circuitry. This great little feature lets you set the exact voltage from 6.5V to 9.5V, and also how much "sag" there will be in the DC supply. This emulates the way a battery, particularly the favoured Carbon-Zinc types deliver power - there is sort of a slight "delay" in the power supply. Quite a subtle effect, but very useful. There are two dials under the unit for sag and voltage, a dip switch to switch the VBat circuitry on or off, and finally another dip switch to select either 9V or 13.2 V. The VBat switch overrides the latter dip switch. There is also an LED indicator for each of the four isolated channels. If you plug in a faulty (shorted) power cable, the LED will go off. Very neat. At the back of the unit there is an additional AC power outlet that puts out whatever voltage goes into the unit (110V or 230V depending on where in the world you are), as well as the mentioned isolated 9V AC output.
My only minor quibble is that I wish there were some labels under the unit that told you which switch is which. Also, I think there should be labels on the front that tells you which isolated channel has which options (18V, 13.2V, VBat) and finally LED indicators that light up when either of these options are selected. If you accidentally plug into the wrong isolated channel, you could potentially fry a 9V pedal with 18V without knowing. The manual is very good, but I usually don't keep it at hand, so I've put my own labels on the unit to prevent any such misuse.

Sound Quality : 10
Absolutely superb. No noise at all. The only time I noticed anything was when I powered a Boss TU2 tuner that was plugged into the tuner out on an Ernie Ball volume pedal. I noticed a slight pop when switching the tuner on and off. Powering the tuner from a dedicated isolated output solved the problem. Other than that - absolutely stellar. The VBat is a *great* little thing. I can only suggest you experiment with it. There are some very fascinating subtle differences with varying voltages and sag times. This only really works with overdrive/fuzz/distortion pedals, and not time-based effects. I currently don't use the VBat, but I may well do so in the future.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've had it for about 9 months. Never had any trouble whatsoever. It sits on my pedalboard under a shelf. I do gig without backup. Wish I could afford a spare, but I can't. It would be a major bummer if it screwed up, but it has never failed me anywhere. I use this board at all rehearsals too, so I'm confident it'll hold up. It certainly seems very well built. I don't think it's fair to rate it yet, but there hasn't been as much as a hickup yet.

Customer Support : 10
Amazing, no less. Tom Knesel has bended over backwards to help me (well, slight exxageration, but you get the picture). For instance, I posted a question in a newsgroup regarding which plug I needed for a specific pedal (Prescription Yardbox). Dig this - Tom responded directly to me via email and said he'd find out. Within hours, he'd personally called Prescription Electronics and found out, and sent the info to me. It just doesn't get any better than that! The best thing I can say is that he's been as good as Analog Mike Piera. THANK YOU, TOM!

I used to have a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power. That's a great unit for sure, but opted to upgrade to this for a number of reasons. First of all, it has many more features than the PP. More current (each of the VL's 8 outputs only have about 85mA, whereas the Juicebox has 2x400mA, and 2x200mA), more outputs, more different voltages, and best of all, a dedicated 9V AC output. This was essential to me to power a Foxrox Captain Coconut. This is also required for some Line6 pedals. The upgraded Pedal Power 2 has more options, but still not as many as the Juicebox. The Juicebox is the only one I know of that has a dedicated 9V AC output. So if you have a Captain Coconut, you know which unit to buy. Same goes for those with Line6 units that can't be powered off of the PP2. *Or*, like me, those who have just too many pedals...;-) The unit might seem a little large, but it really isn't. The PP is taller, which means it's hard to put it under a shelf. This can very easily be done with the Juicebox. That way it's better protected, plus I can use the shelf to put pedals on. All in all, you get what you pay for. *Very* much worth the extra dough. I would *definitely* buy it again - nothing else will do. Simple as that.

This unit is a power box for supplying Dc current to effects boxes.
I am using it on an Aspect Design Labs professional touring pedalboard

Sound Quality : 10
The ability of this unit to deliver quality power to a wide variety of effects from manufacturers of different type pedals from all over the world is astounding. It is absolutely quiet, even when powering all 12 effects devices. I have been told by Tom Knesel, the designer of the Juice Box that it was easily capable of handling about 10 more pedals without breaking a sweat. No matter how few, or how many pedals I have going at once, the tone quality is always exceptional and never varies. I use the Juice Box with several Marshall amps of varying vintages and soon with a Diezel VH4.

Reliability : 10
I have not had it long enough to be able to answer this question, but I will be gigging 5 nights a week with it from October through May. If I have any problems, I will update this review. I will give it a 10 at this time as it has been faultless so far.

Customer Support : 10
Tom and judy Knesel are exceptionally customer-oriented.. Both of them have gone out of their way to see to it that all questions/concerns were answered quickly, in simple terms that I could understand. Tom is a guitar player and really knows tone and what should not be mis-interpreted for tone.

Overall Rating : 10
I play all styles of music. I have played for 45 years. In that time I have heard many stratements made about power gear for pedals, none of which have prooved to be totally correct. That is until I have played with the Juice Box. It is everything it's designer states it is and Tom is way too conservative in his description of this device. I hear people talking about the Voodoo Labs power box...the Juice Box blows the Voodoo power box away.. One should not attempt to compare the 2 in the same sentence! I am powering a digital wireless, 3 line6 modelers, pedals from the U.S.A., Japan, England, Germany and it doesn't matter at all to the Juice Box. It handles everything efficiently, quietly, and supplies the correct amount of power to all devices without a hitch.

This is a power supply unit for pedals, so if you cant used this i suggest you ....... Since this unit can send out diferent voltages, theres a page that explains how to do this, and theres not much mistery there.

Sound Quality : 10
First let me tell you all about this little box. The juice box comes with 10 outputs, and an extra one on the back for a total of 11 outputs. Two of those you can regulate the voltage, one can be 9v or 18v, while the other can be 9v or 13.5v. So in other words no matter what kind of pedal you have you can power it. The rest of the outputs are 9v. Of course you might ask your self if you really need 11 outputs, well let me tell you that the Juice Box can easily power over 20 pedals, and still provide 9v to each individual pedal. As if that wheren't enough the unit still provides an accessory AC outlet on the back. If you want to learn more about the specs of the Juice Box check out the makers web adrees at WWW.PEDALBOARD.COM . Now to the good part. I used different pedal name brands and this unit can power them easily. At the moment I'm powering 9 pedals with this baby. I use an E.H. frequenzy analyzer(I connect this to the AC outlet on the back of the unit, since it sucks 40v of power)==>BOSS CS-3==>Crybaby 535Q(this is an 18v pedal)==>Boss MT-2==>VoodoLab Tremolo==>MXR Phase 100==>DOD Steroe Chorus==>BOSS BF-2==>BOSS DD-5. The Juice Box can power this and more with out brakeing a sweat, all of course *HUM* free.

Reliability : 10
I've had it for a few months and it hasnt let me down, and I dont think it will. I used it at practice and at gigs. I blindly depend on this unit. Since I dont belive in surprises I would carry some kind of backup(batteries probably),just in case some drunk spills his beer on the cables.

Customer Support : 10
The company is great. The only way to get the Juice Box is by buying it on the net. The actual designer of the unit answerd all my Emails, responding promptly at my questions. With this unit i dont think i'll need repair work in a while. Great service.

Overall Rating : 10
This is just a great unit that every body that uses pedals needs. I searched all over for a unit that could do all I wanted, and the Juice Box is the answer. If for some reason I parted with it, I would cry like a baby, then buy it again as fast as I could. I trully recomend this unit. Its truly the best power supply out there, theres not many , but its still the best.
