I am into all kinds of music; folk, jazz, rock, classical, acid ....on & on ....
I have been playing for 37 years now. I own and operate a 64 track digital-analogue recording studio with all the trimmings. All final mixes pass through it (it's as quiet as a contented mouse).
If my BBE was stolen I would certainly try to hunt one down somewhere.

The sonic maximizer has great sound quality. It gives everything such clarity, the mud is gone, the result is impressive.I use mine in my home studio, with my Yamaha AW1500 digital recorder. This unit isn't noisy, and generaly improves everything thats run through it!I have never tried it in a live situation yet, but i think i will!

I play classic rock, blues progressive, and motown, Iv'e been playing for 32yrs, I own a Parker Nitefly guitar, a Kramer Pacer Deluxe Axe, A Line6 Flextone 3 amp, and a Carvin x100b tube stack.I would definitely replace it if it were lost, it's a big part of my sound in my studio.

Two knobs, no waiting...
Incredibly, deceptively simple.
Manual or shall I say the PDF is VERY handy.
No really, it has the schematic for the unit on the back pages and helpful calibration information, who says men don't read manuals?

I have used it as a stand alone and in the side chain of other gear (Behringer T1952) and this item is a real killer. Tried it in the effects loop of my Roland GP100 and old an Digitech RP1 and was amazed.
No extra noise noted which is great considering I bought the item used with one channel completely dead.
I fixed the unit without the help of BBE and never looked back.
Lucky I guess...

I would depend on it and would use it live without a back up.

Emailed them for some input/sourcing about an IC in the unit and they did not respond (no worries, maybe the email got lost in cyberspace).
Turns out I did not need their help because I sourced a pair of IC's to replace the defective ones and was back in business.

I had done plenty of research about the sonic maximizer process and bought this item on a whim. I have used the software version in CUBASE SX and felt a hardware version might be a good addition to my home studio. I like to experiment with sound in both the digital and acoustic medium.
In my rack I have an APHEX 104 C2 and 109, and a Behringer EX3100 (and a number of other items naturally). Each has its own sonic characteristics and the BBE was worth the effort and risk.
I think in the future I will pick up some of the newer BBE equipment to further augment my home studio and live setup.

I use it with the ADA MP-1 tube pre-amp and Peavey Classi 60/60 and it sounds great. Fat sound and great chunk. I play heavy metal and thrash metal and it sounds great for that stuff.
