The BBE 882 is very easy to use. You insert it into your signal chain right before your power amp. Set the Lo Contour and Process knobs at 12:00 and activate the unit. Adjust the two knobs until you get your sound right. The manual explains everything you need to know, but you don't really need it to make the unit work.

Sound Quality : 9
I use the BBE 882 in a guitar rack that contains the following equipment:

Furman IT-1210 Balanced Power Transformer
Furman RackRider Power Distributor
Custom Audio Electronics 3+ SE Guitar Preamp
Rane MLM 82a Mic/Line Mixer
Eventide Eclipse
BBE 882
VHT Two/Fifty/Two Stereo Power Amplifier

The unit is not noisy at all. I use XLR balanced connectors from the Rane MLM 82a and send the BBE 882 a fairly hot signal, pushing it so that the clip lights faintly light at the loudest passages. The difference between the processed signal and an unprocessed signal is amazing! I think the BBE 882 shines the brightest when you need to play at lower volume levels; the unit seems to bring out the character lost when you have to turn down. I don't know if you need the BBE process as much if you're playing live at high SPL, but I think it's an essential part of my sound at lower volume levels.

Reliability : 10
The unit is very reliable and I would not worry about having a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
They have a nice website.

Overall Rating : 10
I play a combination of hard rock and heavy blues. This unit is a great match for my styles of music. I have been playing guitar for over 25 years and own a variety of guitars, amplifiers, and effects. If this unit were stolen or lost, I would get another one.

The 882 has two channels. Both Channel A & B have two controll knobs. Lo Contour(BASS) and Process(Treble). Also, it has a BBE Process function button enabling you too turn off the bbe for quick comparison of processed and unprocessed sound.

My Setup is as follows:
Amp
Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 100 with a 1960 4x12 cab.
Rig
Furman power conditioner
TC Electronics G Major (Ballanced Jacks)
BBE 882 (Ballanced Jacks)
Digital Music Corp Ground Controll
Guitar
1960 Gibson Les Paul Classic
1961 Gibson SG Reissue

Originally I had the BBE 482, but I found that using ballanced with unballanced jacks, you can get alittle noise. So I bought the 882.
The Sound I get from my amp is amazing. I dont know how I ever played without this. Amazing!!!
The bands I listen to are Zeppelin, Tool, Metallica, Ozzy, AC/DC, Disturbed, Judas Priest, Zakk Wylde, Guns N Roses, Black Sabbath, and Alice in Chains.

Reliability : 10
The BBE is very study. No Cheap knobs or anything of the sort. It sits in a Road Ready Case.
