depending on how you want to use it,it can be easy or difficult.It has no knobs,just an in and an output jack.To change the battery,you just pull the two halves of the unit apart,no screws or anything,a new one to me.I must say,getting the battery into its clip,is NOT easy.What makes this pedal difficult,is its lack of a gain knob,and its lack of a footswitch.For my rig,I run it through a true bypass loop pedal w/added level control,to tame the substantial boost this thing puts out.So for my setup,this unit is not that easy to use.

For a pedal that basically just boosts your signal,it accomplishes this task.I plugged my strat straight into the hot dot box(which is plugged into my loop bypass pedal)then into my chain of effects.It is like pulling a blanket off your speaker cab.It gives your notes a clarity you dont realise your missing.A boost at the front of your chain,makes all your pedals have more impact.To describe how this unit sounds,I would say,loud,punchy,slightly compressed and sparkly.If you play through the hot dot box for 5 minutes,and then turn it off,the only word that comes to mind is,dull.

It weighs nothing,and what could break,theres 7 or 8 components inside.It seems super cheap and fragile,yet it looks like nothing could happen to it.

I cant comment,the unit is so out of production.

If it had a footswitch and gain knob,I would give it a ten.Its a cool vintage box that does what it was meant to.Mine doesnt have a pot inside, or a date,or a circuit board like the other reviewers does.It has a terminal strip,with a few resisters and caps,very simple.If you can get around its lack of features,you will love its clean boost,get one if you can.

Excellent! Only two 1/4 inch jacks: one "in" & one "out". That's it! Inside, there is an adjustable gain pot, I recommend you turn this all the way up for the cleanest boost you'll ever hear!

This is quite possibly the cleanest boost I have ever heard in my life.

Put in a 9 volt battery and go!
