Behringer AB100

Impossible to get a good sound, horrfic buffering, loads of high end loss and a really bad overall compression added to the tone.

I use a Cornford Hurricane and a Modded Fender Deluxe Reverb '65.
This switcher drains all the tone from both makes them compressed and really mid range heavy. Not a good switcher, not a single bit.

It's made from plastic feels cheap and I imagined would break within the first year.

I've been playing 16 years and this is really something else in terms of bad quality, I really can't understand why they've made this.

I'm using this to switch between 2 DIs when changing between acoustic instruments which use same fx chain, inst lead etc.

I've noticed noise coming from the UNUSED output. If using say, a signal coming from a guitar preamp, the small amount of gain required will mean that the noise coming from the output not in use, will remain below audible level. However, if required to use pickup without preamp, amount of gain required lifts noisefloor to be clearly audible.

If you have:
- someone to mute channels on desk when not in use; or
- add a gate pedal
- have a strong enough input signal
then this problem shouldn't make any difference.

However in my case, I was trying to simplify setup by using this pedal; so not that great here.
Other than that I don't hear any tone colouration.

Hook it up, use it. It's that simple. I'm using it to separate my chain from my (also Behringer) acoustic modeller. The gain controls REALLY help here.

I need to add though, that when this unit is set to switch one input between two outputs (say two amps) that THAT IS ALL IT DOES! It's not a two-channel input mixer with noise gates! This unit is NOT making the noise! Your "maxed 120w amp" is! Don't diss it for something it's NOT doing! Retards!

The manual is a small piece of paper. Not really helpful.

One heavily modded Strat copy into this, then out to an acoustic modeller (one output) and the other output into a long and complicated pedal chain. NO NOISE FROM MY SETUP!

I don't use an amp - everything goes into my soundcard.

I don't gig, but I take care of my stuff. If this unit died I'd get another immediately.

Apparently Behringer do NOT provide support for products bought from eBay, even if bought new from a dealer (this may have changed). Eventually I *did* get complete satisfaction from them, but it took some whining on my part (even though I was in the right!). At leaset there are real people at the end of the email / phone ;)

I've been playing a long time and play instrumental stuff. As I said I'd replace this straight away if I had to. It's a great product (as is the entire range) and kicks the competition's arse on sound, features and PRICE!

Very easy to use... Just a level control for both channels and the on/off pedal switch.

One of the most important things I'd say. And just that's the weak point of this pedal! I read it bleeds a little... Well, it bleeds a whole lot!! Try this: set it up as amp selector with one amp on a very dirty distortion sound and the other clean. When you play the clean channel it bleeds soooo much. Gone is your clean tone. It also increases your hum and buzz quite a bit, no matter how it's set up.

The case is plastic but when you don't jump on it I guess you'll be fine. Had no way to try it in action though because of the very very poor sound quality.

AS people have said it has a level control for both A and B and has a switch that switches between 2 inputs into 1 output (for switching between 2 guitars) or 1 input into 2 outputs (for switching between two amps).
The level controls DO boost volume but more on that later.

I found that my tone was coloured but for me it was a good thing. I found that there was more clarity and a tighter sound (although i have only tried it with dying batteries not new ones). The level controls are very useful because they can cut volume before a preamp (cleaning up the sound) but dont cut any treble like the volume control on your guitar does.
I found that when using two amps close to each other there was a bit of hum coming from the amp but that is common with any similar devices in this setup.

It works fine for me at the moment although i havent gigged with it yet.
The case seems crappy and the switch looks kinda weak but the case is reinforced with steel so it may hold up ok.

I really needed a cheap pedal like this one so i could have silent tuning (plugging my tuner into one of the outputs). I am glad I got this pedal because as well as letting me switch between amp and tuner it also (as said before) lets me fine tune the volume before the preamp and improved my overall tone.

How simple. Step on it. If you can't get that your ...... And the volume is easy too.

Seemless and perfect and the volume is awesome great for different guitars and amp combos.

Yeah, I think, plastic is abit dige and I advise don't step on it hard.

it is great, I mea it does exactly what it needs to and is cheap. Look at the Boss AB switch and it's price and you'll think this is heaven compared to the Boss Hell. It surpasses all my needs for it expectp it is plastic. But still it is so good it gets 11 out of 10

Simple to use, idiot proof switch on the top left hand side of the unit. I'm using it to switch between guitar & lap steel, the lap-steel has a much louder pickup than my telecaster so the volume level controls are invaluable.

Totally quiet, no tone colouring. I hate to think I'm starting to sound like I work for this company, but I'm using five of their pedals by now & they're all excellent.

Seems dependable so far.

There is bleed through if your using it as a distortion/clean AB pedal. When playing clean you can hear the hiss from the distorted channel. If you turn the knobs down the hiss is gone but so is some of your tone on your distorted channel. Finding the right balance between the two is tricky. I try to find a mid point where the hiss isn't bothering me much and i can be satisfied with my distored tone. But hey, it's only $20.00

Everything I have that says Behringer on it has someting broken on it. I take care of my gear but the knobs on my v-ampire didn't stand a chance, I don't see this thing making it for more than a few months before something cracks or breaks, but hey, it's only $20.00.

It does the job. If it were lost or stolen I would get a different brand but while I have it I will use it, but hey, it's only $20.00

Two Level knobs for dual-output mode- simple enough. One switch to go to dual input mode- again, easy. The only downer is you only have a single level control in dual-input mode, meaning those who have two guitars with widly different outputs may have issues. And the location of the power socket is, as per the rest of the range, lousy. Otherwise, this is pretty idiot-proof.

I use this pedal to let me switch to my back-up guitar in an emergency, and it generally sits at the start of my signal chain. It's entirely silent in operation, but as mentioned, you still get some bleed-through from the other channel. Not much to say, really- it does the job with the minimum of fuss.

The slightly terrifying bargain-bin plastic construction is a worry, but the pedal seems reliable. Those of a heavy-footed nature would be advised looking elsewhere, since you could crush it flat. No jumping off the stack mid-gig onto your pedalboard if you want this baby to survive. But given the minimal amount of use I give it, I'm not overly worried.

Never dealt with them; German contact details do worry, but my local dealer will no doubt replace it first.

As a basic, but useful, part of anyone's gigging arsenal, it makes more sense for a lot of player starting out than the expensive Boss equivalent; it won't be in your pedalboard when you're playing Wembley Stadium, but it'll save you the cable-flailing embarassment usually associated with mid-gig gear changes when you're still playing the Dog And Duck.

I just wanted to add that the level controls DO add to output, or take away from it. I have no idea what that other guy who reviewed was talknig about. again, this pedal sounds great. for $20 you cant beat it.

its plastic, and its very light. I plug straight into this with my guitar, and then chain affects after to different amps. When I move around, the line can tug at this featherweight and pull it away from the other effects and sometimes take the powersource out. One amp is a peavey 5150 for overdrive and leads, while the other is a crappy crate 212 for cleans and distortion. (does its job on cleans....i mean, atleast its better than the 5150s cleans lol. the 5150 DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A CLEANS CHANNEL CUZ IT WASNT made FOR cleans. ITS A HIGH GAIN AMP WITH TWO OVERDRIVE CHANNELS!!!!) anyways, I run a noise gate through the 5150 loop to cut hiss, and I run from the AB100 into a Ibanez Weeping demon wan to a Line6 Ubermetal (SOUNDS UNBELIEVABLE) and then to the crate. My setup gives me a vast amount of sounds which I am very happy with.
