Couldn't be easier, just twiddle the knobs

Some people say this is a noisy pedal. If you use it with a decent output pickup and zero on that nasty enhance knob, it's ok, if a little fizzy on decay. If you try to use it to compress mics or anything of low output, it is impossibly noisy.

Reliability : 6
Ok so far. Just go easy on those plastic stomp boxes.

I like the sound of this pedal. It's not the best quality thing, but it has a musical sound. It's a useful pedal.

Well it has 4 pots: level, enhance, ratio and threshold. no biggy:)

Sound Quality : 9
I Cort C4Z with mightymite soapbar pickups, mid booster switch and pull-push pot to choose between active/passive mode. The pedal works like a charm! I can't record without it (direct to PC)! The bass is full and stable now, as my finger picking dynamics are very unstable xD

It ads a little bit of hiss when level pot is over 50% especialy when using ACTIVE bass, the passive mode is quieter. I don't like the enhance pot, it makes your bas sound more trebly and ads extra noise! I keep it on minimum.

Reliability : 10
It's plastic, but thick plastic. Haven't got any trouble with.

Don't know.

Overall Rating : 9
I haven't checked the boss limit/enhancerbut so i don't know if there is any difference.

Generaly if you record your bass direct to your PC you should consider buying this pedal. I wouldn't recommend for using with amps and cabs. Your amp probalby have a compressor or limiter build in, and the speaker itself gives you some compression.

I paid for it 70 PLN (something like 25 bucks). It's a keeper, no doubt about it!

If you understand the concept behind a limiter/enhancer you'll know how to use this. If not, download the user manual for the BOSS Bass Limiter since it's better than Behringer's.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound quality is best described as "true". I've run it through my backup (a j-bass with passive pickups) and my main bass (an ATK700 with active pickups) and the pedal works well with both. There is only a slight amount of hissing when the enhancer is turned beyond half way which I would expect due to the nature of the "effect". However I bought this pedal as a limiter so that I can go from dynamic finger-playing to slapping/popping/hammering without getting huge volume spikes. This is where the pedal really shines. I play a wide variety of musical styles and many of the songs my band and I write call for basslines that incorporate a variety of playing techniques. Without this pedal I would have to compromise by selecting a volume that would allow me to play textural passages that can be heard yet wouldn't blow the audience's eardrums out once the more agressive slaps/pops/hammer-ons are played. I can now choose a higher volume but limit the volume spikes. Used properly/judiciously this pedal will add, not take away from the dynamics of playing.

Haven't owned the unit long enough to give a valid opinion.

Never dealt with Behringer's CSR.

Sure the pedal has a plastic case... big deal. The point here is for $50 less than the competition, you get a pedal with better sound. If the plastic case is a deterent then just buy the BLE100 and transfer it's guts to a galvanized steel electrical box that you can buy at your local hardware store. Then you can abuse the pedal with no worries, if that's in your nature.

Straightforward, assuming you know what a limiter is and how to use it. The manual is OK, though they ought to include some sample settings for newbies.

Sound Quality : 3
Well, on the one hand, the limiting and enhancing sound very good. On the other hand, it added a HUGE amount of hiss to the signal. And, no, it's not my cables -- I have other stomp boxes, and none of them add this much hiss, not even my distortion pedals. I even turned all the knobs down -- no limiting, no enhancing, no volume (literally no signal coming through with the pedal on), and the amount of hiss when the pedal was on compared to when it was off was frightening. I'm not terribly picky about such things as a general rule, but it was too much even for me.

Reliability : 7
Plastic, but fairly sturdy. One of the knobs was a little loose. Probably not for the aggressive stomper, but ok if you take decent care of your equipment.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea.

Overall Rating : 3
Too much hiss to use. I wonder if it was just the one that I had, since I haven't noticed other reviews complaining about the hiss. Still, I'm not willing to risk buying another -- gonna go ahead and get the Boss LMB-3. Very disappointing, especially since I'm really happy with the Behringer BOD100, and was hoping for another winner with this one.

Pretty easy if you understand how compressors or limiters work.
Didnt need a manual

Sound Quality : 9
Very good sound for bass or guitar. When using guitar it reminds me of my old rolland compressor sustainer which is an optic coupler type. As the sound fades on the behringer it has a slight rolling effect which makes me suspect it may have opto-coupler circuitry which is very cool. Think this is why it sounds good and has a nice touch to it. You can peak/overdrive it a littel like any type of compression if you max the knobs but If its adjusted properly with so the volume matches with it on or off it will be fine. The nice thing to this one is the tone contour knob matches the bass frequency responces and accents the instrument and as I said it sounds great on guitar too.

I have 5 or 6 behringer pedals now and dont have any problem with them. I use a no hum power supply and all of them work fine

I bought this for my studio bass rig. A typical problem with most bass players is they dont have the most consistant finger attack on the strings. Face it the bass strings are heavey and it takes alot of effort to play the instrument all night consistantly. This should maintain his volume at least. (Its amazing what what you can identify as being a problem when you record all your instruments on different tracks) I play pro bass for years also and find a gizmo like this can really make you sound good that is if you know how to play to begin with. Rehursals will be more effective because the bass wont able to drop down low if they dont remember so you'll fix the problem before it becomes a habbit. And it will free me up on constantly having to balance my guitar volume/dynamics all the time to his.
And the most important thing is when I do mix down recordings I wont have to edit the hills and valleys in the bass track volume because I will have a consistant signal level when recording.

All and All great buy for $19. It would probibly work on drum mikes good also in a pinch.

At first this seems very transparent as if there is no effect at all. But by simply viewing BOSS's LMB-3 sample setting, you can enjoy this stomp as if it were a real BOSS clone.

Sound Quality : 10
very good compression and limiter effect. I have more dynamics in my sound. nice pop slap sound. nice fingerpicking fretless style sound. very nice enhancer.i get more presence and bass punch, scoop out the hi-mids very well.my hands was relieved thru its good compression, less pressure on my fingers and the tone doesn't decay fast, sustained well.

Reliability : 3
very fragile knobs, and casing, plasticky.

gave me 6 months warranty. fair enough for the affordable price I paid for this box.

fairly easy to get a good sound out of this guy. this is going to be a quick review, as i agree with most of the positive reviews posted below. the manual SUCKS, i downloaded the boss LMB3 manual instead. it took a minute to get the right tweak, but it's great once tweaked,

Sound Quality : 9
musicman sterling basses, through sansamp bass driver first then behringer limiter, then more pedals. it is NOT NOISY. i have the boss limiter/enhancer 3 and it is more sweet and warm with a fuller tone than the boss, and it's a 4th the price. hands down, the cheap little plastic behringer is the best sounding pedal of the two.

Reliability : No Opinion
it's plastic, but anyone who cares about their pedals will keep them in a pedal board and not JUMP on them. STOMP boxes are not meant to be STOMPED. will last as long as 1980's transformers if you take care of them. yes, despite the fact that the pedal is plastic, it should last if you don't throw it against the wall.

Customer Support : No Opinion
don't know, never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 9
a much better sounding pedal than bosses version, like night and day. i've been playing for a while. if this broke, i could buy 3 more and still be ahead compared to owning a boss limiter. no complaints whatsoever, except that the damn power supply has to be plugged in on the side. i use it just to lower the roof and raise the main volume, and smooth out the huge spikes when i get carried away. it's a surprisingly nice addition to my pedalboard. i play progressive hardcore, and i recorded my new album (not released yet)) with this thing on. it was very quiet. www.myspace.com/lightpupildilate for some old tracks if you're interested. considering the price $19.99 including shipping from music123.com (!!!) i should give it a 10. i like a little bit more metal in my toys, so i'll take a point off.

Well, the unit didn't take any abuse since I leave it on the top of my amp (always on, useful little pedal). And I use the blister housing it came in for transport so it is baby-ed.

Now, if I push only very slightly on any of the controls I get full-blast level...
Or the unit is at full speed whatever the actual controls location, and a soft push brings order back...

I don't like this at all, so I can say I am very happy to have kept my boss lmb3. A bit worse tonewise, but reliable.

5, mine could be a lemon, or maybe some wd40 cures this problem.

Ble100 with problems, OD100 with problem, it seems you get what you pay for...

The bad thing is: these pedals sounds way good, that makes deciding tough.
I suggest to buy them in convenient stores return-wise...

I bought this out of curiosity since I own the original boss lmb3...
Okay it's plastic and won't stand much abuse especially the knobs.
Dc input on the left side is less practical than on the back.
Battery consumption is twice the boss's, 30ma is much (energizer have 550ma).
But it is really not so bad, seems well done, electronics are flawless as far I could see inside.
No ratings because of the price

Sound Quality : 9
Well, it seems to be better than my trusty lmb3. First, there is less sound coloration in bypass mode as well as on.
Two, the sound is fresher, crisper, and makes more fun to play.
Three, the enhancer really works better, fresher and more focused.
To my ears the enhancer is less noisy than lmb3, but tends more to hi eq than real enhancer.
The pedal works quite the same, and I find it very useful as a guitar compressor. Yes!
Rating is better than lmb3, with space left for improvement. For the price it gets 27 of course

Reliability : 6
The way I use it, yes, because I don't stomp on it and keep it always on in a safe place.
I still can plug my jack straight into the amp if there are problems.

Overall Rating : 10
I like it better than the original!
With a bass it is helpful for slap, and I found other very interesting applications.
With guitar it is great to get this funky sound without pumping, and that nice treble chunk. (All knobs at noon is a good starting point)
It is also useful as clean booster, as the lmb3, to push overdriven amps in the red zone.
The surprise is for the end: I use it before my spider2 210 combo for tone enhancement and it is way cool.
For the price it is quite versatile uh?

Ease of Use : 7
This is a clone of the Boss LMB-3 Bass Limiter/Enhancer. Its purpose is to smoothen (compress) harsh volume peaks which occur for example during slapping. It's easy to use just like the Boss original. The way the 4 controls affect the sound are pretty obvious. A short but to the point manual is included. Contrary to the Boss pedal the power supply input is on the side of the box, so there will be more space needed in row of interconnected Behringer stomp boxes then in a Boss one. Not very practical in my case as I had little room left on my pedal board for this additional pedal.

Sound Quality : 7
This stomp box does exactly what it promises. I tested this with a Dean Rhapsody active 8-string bass (which can produce pretty nasty volume peaks when slapped)on a Hartke 3500 amp and Hartke Alu speakers. Not difficult to dial in the appropriate settings. Only a little "enhancement" to compensate for high tone loss caused by the compression was needed. Turning up the "Enhance" button will give you a bit of noise, it's up to you to decide if that is acceptable in your particular setting. On/off switch operation is noiseless. Does not appear to heavily influence your tone in Off-mode, but I assume it has no true-bypass.

Reliability : 6
It's all plastic, so don't drop this unit. Not a problem if you mount it on a pedal board.

Never dealt with Behringer.

Overall Rating : 8
The Boss LMB-3 costs, on average, four (!) times the price of the Behringer unit. Political/intelectual issues aside, the BLE100 offers good value for money. If your are looking for cheap stomp boxes to play around with and find out whether one particular type of effect makes you smile musically, then look no further then Behringer. They cannot be beaten for that price. If however, you have found that a particular effect box will be used by you on a regular basis during live gigs, then you might consider upgrading to a more sturdy (and more expensive) product by Boss or others.
(I also own and use a Boss Bass Chorus, Boss Bass Overdive, ElectroHarmonix miniQtron and Behringer Bass V-amp)
