the power-in socket is on the right next to the guitar input.
WHY?
very annoying.
had to rewire my pedal board so the cord would reach.
extremely easy to use.
probably because the sound range is fairly limited.
but it is limited to quite a good sound and the wet /dry mix pot gives the ability to layer a little overdrive behind a clean signal or vice versa which is kind of cool.

my setup is as follows:
rbx series yamaha bass guitar (passive p and j pickups)-> boss oc-2 octave -> bod100 -> electro-harmonix bass big muff pi ->laney dp300 bass amp ->(effects loop) boss ceb3 chorus -> boss dd-7 delay -> laney dp300 bass amp -> fender quad box 4x12" and JBL 17" speaker cabinet.
the sound range is fairly limited but it is limited to quite a good sound and the wet /dry mix pot gives the ability to layer a little overdrive behind a clean signal or vice versa which is kind of cool.
ok so the reason i wanted to write this was this...
i have been playing with the bod100 for about 6 months and had a lot of fun with it, 6 weeks ago i bought a 'electro-harmonix bass big muff pi' and the bod went into the cupboard. today i decieded to A/B the two of them to check the difference.....
granted, it was the same set of ears adjusting them both to my taste, but when i turned down the dry out of the bod100-
they were so close it was scary.
i am guessing that the bod might be a rip off of the green russian big muff that the bass big muff is supposedly based on.
dont get me wrong- if i had to give one away it would be the bod100, however the difference in price doesnt reflect the difference in sound. and i am starting to think a switchable wet/dry mix pot on the muff would be a great idea.
i am currently running the bod100 along with the big muff with the bod setup with clean signal bleeding through the overdrive and swapping between the 2.
sounds good with the balance at about 21:00, gain at MAX, cut the highs- boost the lows, octave pedal in front of it and a subtle chorus in the effects loop after the equaliser... which brings me to the point of saying: IMHO EQs are the key to a great sound with this and all distortion units.

it seems strong enough for most
but
it is made of plastic.
but
it is cheap.
if it got stolen or you broke it you could replace it 5 or 6 times before paying the same price as similar units by other manufacturers.
if you LOVE it- rehouse it in a metal box , (true bypass it and move the power input to the back where it belongs.), and youve got something that should last forever.

this sort of thing is generally exchanged at a store level- buy it from a good music shop and you will have no dramas.

not much left to say without repeating myself.
good pedal, great sound but limited range.
wet / dry mix is the best feature and gives the unit a little versatility.
behringer has made a name for themselves for "ripping off" other manufacturers stuff then selling it cheaper. this is the number one thing i hear against them. this is a definate plus to me. the other manufacturers charge too much and most of what you are paying for is hype.
well worth the price of admission.

I play a Fender Precision on a Hartke HA4000 amplifier. I bought this pedal just to experiment with an overdriven bass sound. From the beginning I thought: if I don't like it, I throw it away. The BOD-100 pedal is not noisy. But when I played with it for some rehearsals, I found out the deep bass sound simply disappeared. The pedal ate my lower frequencies! It was quite a release when removed the pedal: got my old sound back!

I play from hard rock to jazz. Once I found out the pedal made my bass sound disappear, I sold it immediately. I should have known better: plastic stuff in this price category simply cannot be good.
Why would you buy expensive basses and amplifiers if you let a 25 Euro pedal screw your sound? I would never buy such a pedal again. Sure, this stuff is OK for kids and students.
I am currently looking for another bass overdrive or fuzz pedal.

Plenty easy to use (it's a distortion box, for cryin' out loud). Manual is good, though they should include example settings for newbies. Since you have so many options (two band eq, level and gain, mix of clean and OD sound), you'll need to experiment a bit, but should be able to dial in a good sound in no time. (And if you want some example settings, download a manual for the BOSS OBD-3 -- this is basically a more affordable version of that pedal.)

Excellent! I bought it to play along with my King Crimson (the John Whetton years) and Yes albums, and I'm getting a great sound, very much like those records. From mild tube grit to serious fuzz, all without losing any low end. Very little hiss or signal degredation. Great, great, great!

Plastic, but fairly sturdy. I'm an at-home player these days (my gigging days are long behind me) and I take care of my stuff, so I expect it to last a long time. If you're tough on your equipment or gig at a different bar every single night, you might want to buy a second one as a backup (and for the price, why not?!).

I was skeptical about buying it -- it looked like a cheap BOSS clone -- but for the price (1/3 of the BOSS OBD-3), I figured I'd give it a chance. Very glad I did -- I'm going to be happy with this pedal for a long time.

BOD100 Essential element, no mucking around with the 'manual' (a6 sheet) Easy to understand (but small) control knobs. Switching works like it should. Body is plastic, but so are our cars! As durable a stomp box as anyone could ask for.

ACE= 4/4 scale Cimar Jazz bass with Wilkinson Pickups; cort 3/4 scale with single humbucker.
Boxes=Holden Wasp 100 (Valve) head and Home made enclosure 2x12 plus 2x8 horns (200wrms). Also Pro-amp 20 FET combo (for teaching) and Kustom 12 (Valve pre-amp) for annoying the neighbours!
Sound? = If you ever considered replacing a small combo-amp speaker...get one of these! Bottom end boost is sensational.
Bal/Gain/Level are not on the same scale as guitar distortion (Big Muff, DS1 etc) but then, who wants

Only had the purple people eater a couple of weeks; seems well made and, for the price, it's almost 'throwaway'! I'd certainly buy another without thinking.

I was looking for an overdrive effect, the salesman told me the behringer was almost as good as the boss, so for the price, i went for it. 5 minutes into a gig however 'the purple power' started to ignore the offswith so i was stuck with overdrive the entire song. After that it staid that way. So i went back to the dealer and i got another one. Same problem. At this point i simply gave up with behringer. I guess the sound is allright but i like to choose if i use it or not.

Just a quick update from my pevious review. I've been using it non stop in every rehearsal and every live show for the psat year or so. Never a problem. I've now have it in hooked into a power supply, never a problem. The Purple Power (what a GREAT nickname) is a tank. Period. I stomp on it a lot, as I use alternate overdriven and clean bass sounds, even on the same song, and i'm not a thin fella, with shoes size 15 and all. Belive you me. It endures. It lasts. It prevails.

I bought this badboy for $20 and for the sound quality of the distortion that this pedal puts out it is a steal. the BOD100 really retains the bottem end---REALLY. So much better then the muff pedals from EHX and quite simlilar to the Boss od-3, but IMO it sounds better, darker grittier, and more bottem end. Behringer hit a homerun with this little ped. I'm gonna nickname it the Purple Power!

In comparision to the EHX muff line or the Boss OD-3 I would rather have this pedal,a boatload more cash in my pocket, and some kick ass bassy distortion. Ric 4003 mg, ampeg hln 4 x 10, fender pro 400, is my main rig, and of course my little PURPLE POWER!

When I checked it out at music store, it sounded very good. But when I used it playing with my band, the sound of my bass simply disappeared.
It seems to have scooped mids when playing in fingerstyle. And I had no results setting BOD100 with less highs and lows and more level, as I use to do with Tech21 SBBDI.
perharps it should respond better to fast attack playing styles ( as picking or slapping)

I use this thing with a L??kland 55-02 and a SWR 2*10c combo amp. The sound is great. You can get everything from a little bit of drive to full blown Brain melting metal sound.

i play Rickenbacker 4003 bass and gallien Krueger 400rb bass amp with Laney 15 inch cab. i use more effect (octaver, chorus, envelope filter and delay) all stores at arion effects case and power supply - with no problems at all.

i play for 17 years. i own Rickenbacker 4003, Warwick streamer fretless and jay turser Beatles bass. and GK 400 RB amp and some effects, line 6 bass pod and home personal project studio.
if it get lost or damaged i will buy another, or depend on the budget, i can try another units..
i love the sound of it and ease of use. i don't like the plastic box to much. but the purple color is awesome. the favorite feature is the balance knob that let you mix the dry signal and the wet effected signal and that let the bass still sound and no get lost at the distortion.
i had searched for long time after good bass overdrive unit.
i wasn't able to get the boss odb3 at my country.
the bass pod which i have have some good overdrive sound but have his own limitations. i like single pedals more.
there are some very expensive bass over drive pedals
and of course it is very cheap. the value for money is great.

It's almost a pleasure to manipulate the sounds with this little box. And it was a surprise that every knob did what they say... not like some pro Trace Elliot heads where "high boost" don't mean anything but "crapy attack on strings kinda sound". The manual is really useful for begginers, but it is not absolutly necessary. Only tricky thing is the battery place... i'm sure i'll forget carrying ballpens to a gig!! XD

This is when i couldn't believe the price i've paid. I plugged the purplish thingy and my amp became alive. I managed in a few minutes to get Muse-like sounds and, my lattest discovery, crancking up the gain with just a little "OD" to get a very vintage sound, almost Zeppelinesque. Never sucked bass or frequence. I use it with a Schecter Diamond Series Custom 4 with DR high beam strings, and get really clear bass melodies with an awful power to it. I REALLY RECOMMEND USING IT WITH THE FENDER BXR 100 COMBO - simply the best bass amp ever. The BOD100 and the amp really makes my life easier at had-stoner-rock. Only problem is the high knob... almost superfluous.

This is where this thing really fails. But, for the price, one cannot ask for much. The case is plastic, and although it looks fairly sturdy, i wouldn't step on it too hard. In a gig i would probably let it on and never switch it off, as far of my feet as possible. But, like someone already said, there'd be absolutely no reason not to buy another if broken or lost.

I've never contacted the company yet, so i couldn't really say. Some friend of mine, though, uses a lot of Behringer stuf in his professional studio, and he tells me they respond fairly good, even when we live in Chile. Then again, I've never had contact with the german fella's.

Like i've said, the BOD100 was a very nice surprise for me. I play in a very stoner hard-rock oriented band, and the control that one haves over the amount of overdrive, considering the inexistent loss of bass, makes my life and overall playing a lot easier. It almost screams when in maximun OD, and the independent level/gain controls are really a genius feature. I have a great sound wall using it with my old Fender BXR. If you're into a fat-but-melodic kinda bass sound, this is a very cheap and good machine. I bet the manufacturer will soon put a metal case to it and take the Boss's stuff in real jeopardy. Hope so... I really fear the thing will explode under my feet sometimes.

This pedal is really easy to use, it's easy to get a good sound out of it if you just have a good mess about with all the knobs, which to be honest aren't hard to figure out. There was a small manual with it, but to be honest i didn't need it. As the other reviewer said, it did take me a while to figure out where the battery went!

I got some really nice sounds out of this, from a nice warm tube sound to a really harsh sound that wasn't far off a guitar. I was trying to get a sort of metallica anaesthesia sound, i didn't get it but i did get pre-occupied with the rest of it's potential. With this i was using a jay turser musicman style bass with a morley bass wah, a digitech BP50 multi FX pedal and a behringer ultrabass BX1200 120W bass amp. The digitech pedal complimented it really well because mixed with the sound of the two it gave some really interesting combinations. Although it didn't sound to great with a wah to be honest, maybe if the level of the wah was fairly low then it might sound ok. To me it gave off a really good overall sound for the price.

I know Behringer to be fairly reliable as i have owned an amp of theirs for almost a year now, it's not long but it's not had anything go wrong yet. I also know a few people with their products that are still working fine. Although the case is made of plastic, which is a little worrying because any heavy use or heavy foot actions may cause some damage, while using it, it doesn't feel particularly sturdy.

I'm a metal/rock/funk bassist, and to me this really stood out, it gave me some really good sounds, from the red hot chilis to an audioslave sound and could be used for a lot of different stles. I've only been playing for about 20 months now, but i do know my stuff, and this seemed really good to me, an absolute bargain. If it was lost or stolen i would DEFINATELY go out and buy another, no doubt about it, for how much you pay for it there's no point in not. I haven't really had much of a chance to compare it to other products apart from my digitech multi FX, and this absolutely puts it's overdrive settings to shame.

I am not fond of bass effects at all. However, in the band I am currently in we play blues, as a trio, and I do the guitar part of Elmore James' "Shake Your Money Maker". I thought it would sound good with some old tube style distortion so I figured "For twenty bucks, if I don't like this pedal I can throw it away". Well - it turns out I DO like this pedal - it sounds great!
All it does is add distortion. You can blend the clean sound with the distorted sound. There are treble and bass knobs but I think they are superfluous. You can dial in the distortion from a slight tube crunch to almost a fuzz pedal.
I am using it with an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 bass, Joemeek compressor and SWR Workingman's 400 amp, two Trace Elliot 1 x 15" cabs.

This pedal is easy to use. Just turn the knobs until you find a sound you like. Editing couldn't be easier, as this is a pretty basic stomp box. There are knobs for Level, Bass, Treble, Gain and Dry/Wet mix, so despite being simple you have a lot of control over the sound. The manual tells you more or less what you need to know. The most tricky thing at first was figuring out how to change the batteries.
Sound Quality

First of all, i bought this pedal for use with my analogue synthesizers rather than guitars, so this description is a bit synth-centered. Specifically i purchased it with a Novation Bass Station in mind. I have a couple of other guitar distortion/overdrive pedals, but none of them sounded quite right for synthesizer bass or provided enough flexibility.
Being an overdrive pedal, this was noisy on high Gain settings, but otherwise not overly noisy. I use it with batteries, so using an AC adapter may of course make it a bit more prone to producing noise. While this may sound a bit over-enthusiastic, with the synthesizer i use, this pedal actually always manages to sound good. Acid basslines are a cinch.

The stomp box is plastic, which is never entirely reassuring. While it seems reasonably sturdy, i've heard accounts of these boxes breaking after heavy use. The knobs don't seem very reliable either, but i haven't experienced any problems there yet. This is perhaps where the difference in price is most evident

I play electronic music, perhaps best described as experimental. I've been actively playing for maybe 7 years now, and experimenting with stomp boxes to complement the sound. If this pedal was stolen, lost or broken - i wouldn't hesitate to get another one. At the price, there's no reason not to. The price is something i love about it. It's cheaper than actually getting something second hand.
After previously having bought the awful (i can find no better way to describe it) Behringer UC100 Ultra Chorus i didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that the BOD100 was everything i hoped it would be. Again, price had a lot to do with my decision to get this pedal.
This pedal is recommended by Behringer for both Bass and Keyboard use and i wholeheartedly recommend this pedal to anyone using an analogue synthesizer for bass. I imagine it wouldn't be too bad for bass guitar either, but someone else will have to verify that.
