It is easy to figure out how to use it to tune without the manual. I feel that they could have left out a few features, such as transposing or the meteronome. I'm sure most people buying this just want it for the tuner purpose, and all these extra features make it more complicated. It is pretty easy to use overall however, it would have been nice to make the buttons bigger or at least the text around the buttons, you'll have to get close and squint.

I play a few jackson clones, with the btr2000 at the top of my rack, an ada mp2, and an alesies midiverb 4 in the ada's effects loop. I use the effects return of a crate head to drive my crate cabinet, then. I checked for noise or discoloration, and couldn't notice anything, mabey a slight drop in volume when i run straight through the btr2000, but it was so minimal it could have been my mind expecting to hear a difference. I've read reviews of the front lights adding noise to the signal. This is ture, but minimal. I cranked my amp on a clean setting and flicked the light on and off finding a slight staticy sound but again it was soooo minimal compared to the normal noise that was already coming through i've chosen not to worry about it. On a heavy gain channel, i couldn't notice at all. It tunes fine, and is pretty picky so you could stand there for a long time trying to make the light stay green, which i'm sure will frustrate the hell out of alot of perfectionists, get it so it stays pretty much green, and go play your guitar already!

Can i depend on it? time will tell...its still pretty new. I always keep a little tuner in my gig bag so if this thing fails, i'll have that. i've never had a problem with a behringer product and if i do i'll be on hear to complain. No opinion for now, regarding the btr2000.

I'm sure like most big corporations, they'll suck balls. Thats why if you guy new, always try to stick it to the dealer. With the high markups they put on these products, let them eat the shipping and handling fees.

I play metal, and gig frequently. This works well for what i'm doing, i can check my tuning in between songs without drawing too much attention to myself. If it were lost or stolen, if i could afford a korg or a boss i would buy them becuase of their reputation, but this works well for now.

If it was lost/stolen, I'd get another. Got one for our bass player too and after reading reviews was worried that it wouldn't be OK for his lowest string (he plays 5 string) - but once we'd set it for bass guitar he's had no problems. We did notice that the 2 units aren't exactly in tune with each other, so I'm off back to read the manual to calibrate them together to be identical - allegedly they can each be tuned to a note played in to them. Great value which is quite compelling if you think its a good idea for all bass/guitarists in your band to use the same sort of tuner. I play a Les Paul in a loud rock band.

The handling is OK (set the right tuning modus, use the right input jack).
The start up time is very long. The tuning itself is not very comfortable. The algorithm of the tuning indication on a 15??? tuner (e. g. Kork GT3, Ibanez LU10) is even better.

I am very critical of the ease of use of this product. According to the manual, there are a lot of features and routing possibility. It could be very intuitive, but, a la mode Behringer, each button has more than one function depending of the combination of keys you push. So you have to be the nose in the panel to read the various options.
The toggle between the back input and the front mic is not convincing...

Bad, bad, and bad! First of all, the lights broke after one month. The front mic is weard: doesn't catch my electric guitar, but will catch the accoustic from the otehr side of the room. When, finally, the little joker catch a signal, it's of by 5% or so. I compared my Protools plugin tuner, a small casio, my built-in RP6, and they all agree, but the behringer! Added to that the fact that it does hardly work with a bass guitar, it ends up just lighting my rack.

The price of replacing the burnt-out leds was twice the price of the unit. They have NO answer to the tuning proble (a tuner out of tune is a funny oxymoron, isn't it?)

This product is just a waste of money. The only reason I do not get rid of it is because I can't take it out of my rack without taking everything else out, and I don't want to spend another 1 hour with all the wiring. I only use it to lght the gear below it and as a elight effect to impress people in my home studio. At least, that's how I can justufy the 50 I wasted!
Get ANYTHING ELSE, even a tuning fork is better!

It is dead simple, just like any other hand-held tuner except just larger. although it does also have more advanced features such as the ability to adjust the pitch of each note (in the past 500 years or so a standard A have gotten about 50 hertz higher).
I have heard that it doesn't pick up low B, but mine picks it up just fine, it just takes a bit longer to pick it up.

The biggest problem with Behringer in general is consistency, one unit might be great and the next might be crap, so if i were to recommend buying it or not depends largely on the return policy of the individual store from which it is purchased.

I've been using this box for about a month and it certainly seems like it was a great deal, the cheapest rack tuner around. If the "needle" seems to be moving around too much you may need to adjust your tuning technique. The setup of your guitar is probably the biggest factor. This tuner is more sensitive than the little box with a needle that most people are used to. The flaws in your setup become more pronounced as you see notes drift in and out of tune. Its not the tuner that is the problem, it is the guitar. It took me a few days to figure this out, and after I made some adjustments chords now sound noticeably better up the entire neck.
If you don't believe me and you still think this tuner is crap try running a keyboard through it set to a bass guitar sound or a sine wave and check how quickly it can identify the notes from the keyboard. Now try bending the pitch wheel and watch how quickly the tuner responds. You can get this tuner to respond to a guitar the same way by stripping the harmonics from your guitar signal like this: select the bridge PU, turn down the tone knob, and pluck directly over the 12th fret.

I do not run my guitar through this tuner to my amp, and if you are the kind of geek who says things like "tone suck" you shouldn't be doing that either. I did try it out just to see how well it worked and it was nice and quiet until I turned the lights on, then I got a buzz. My rig is usually nice and quiet and as far as I know everything is grounded properly. With the light off it seemed as quiet as any other comparably priced tuner. I use a patchbay to split my signal off to the tuner and it works great. Or you could also use an A/B switch, or if can't resist running through this tuner you could just turn the light off.

The face is plastic so I wouldn't call it "heavy duty" but as long as you don't toss your rack around like a jack-ass it shouldn't be any more likely to break than any of your other chinese-built schwag.

Who needs 'em? I know how to solder. This thing is so cheap it wouldn't even be worth it to ship it back for repair, just open the bitch up and find the loose connection and if you can't fix it or its fried beyond repair then toss it in the dump and save the money you were gonna waste on 1 bag of pot and buy a new one.

Because of its sensitivity this tuner has also made me more aware of the subtle differences that you can make in a recording by tuning the guitar in different ways depending on how it will be used for the song or part, e.g. tuning for the initial attack (chugga-chugga) vs. making sustained chords ring nicely. This knowledge alone has been worth the purchase price, because I would never have caught on to this with my old tuner.
Highly recommended if you want a nice pro-looking and functioning rack tuner but can't imagine paying $250+. Behringer is good at making expensive gear look stupid. If you don't put this in your signal chain then the light looks cool and is a nice bonus, otherwise you may have to keep it turned off because mine makes noise.

Not that difficult and the manual is fairly clear. Has a lot of extra features I don't need (metronome, light, etc.), the only thing it does really bad is tuning (see below).

You can't depend on it, because It's a crappy tuner. I would never use it on a gig since it's useless.
The lower the pitch the (much) longer it takes to identify it. It takes ages for the low E, it simply doesn't work for my seven string low B: too low for it.
I can't figure out how a bass player could ever be able to use it.

I've got rid of it less than two months after buying it.
If it were stolen or lost I would thank God, but fortunately I sold it before (actually nobody would be so idiot to steal such a piece of junk).
I gave it up on rack tuners and now I'm using a Korg DT-10 pedal, which I recommend. If you really need a rack tuner, buy a Korg, it's worth the extra bucks.

I've been playing professionally (full and part time) over the last 25 years. My present gear includes: Fender Roscoe Beck Signature 5 string, Tech 21 Sans Amp RBI preamp, Ampeg SVP Pro preamp (presently down for repairs ;) Yorkville Sound AP4040 power amp. I've been using a Boss TU8 for many years and it was the only tuner I could find at the time that could actually tune an open B string. The BTR2000 can't track a low B...and has trouble even on the E string, very slow. The higher registers tune well but I think it should still be quicker. Despite the cool extra features, If it can't tune its going back to the store where it came from (something to think about for you online shoppers). I've been researching other rackmount tuners and the only other one that makes specific reference to the low B issue is Fenders RT1000. Not that looks are important, but Fender has a new faceplate design on the current model (the old one looked pretty silly). Also check out Bass Player Magazine Jan/08-New Gear feature: SWR's RU-N2N. Look close and notice its identical (except in color) to the Fender. No Surprise here as Fender now owns SWR. So if this tuner is good enough to wear the SWR logo...I'm pretty sure it will do the job well. My new RT1000 is getting ordered this week.

Huumm... I dont depend on it because this machine is not so fullfilling.
Two things are annoying :
The main defect is that the unit is not very GOOD in quickly "guess" the tune , exspecially on the bass tones (good on the treble)
Also its like the internal sampling happens avery 1 second , it doesnt shows "continuosly" the tuning ...and this is very "ugly".
As other reviews said .... the frontal part lean-out from the rack profile , reducing the visibility of the other units below.
That vertical light its not useful att all the majority of time.
Finally, the unit starts to work only some seconds after its "boot-up" (its turning ON) and its annoying too.

The reason why I??m using a tuner is to NOT disturb others so I have no
opinions about the sound. With the guitar plugged in directly it tracks very bad. So I made a "tuning-patch" with full volume and compression in my Rocktron preamp and connected the btr-2000 to the unbalanced output. So before tuning the balanced output must be muted........

I??ve been a professional musician for 25 years and used several of Behringers priceworthy products. No complains until now. Bought the unit since my Boss-TU 12H finally collapsed after 20 years!! You get what you pay for so I didn??t expect too much from the BTR-2000.
But hey come on!! The design!?? With that stupid curved front the only place were it fits in a normal guitar-rack is in the bottom. And who places a tuner there? And on the top there is no use of the light unless moving the other units backwards with the result they will be covered and hard to reach..... Not really userfriendly.... Not to mention what it looks like. Using it as a racklight for a mixer there will be at least 10 height-units empty space to not be in the way....
Conclusion: I would call this a bad racklight with an additional tuner. As soon as possible I??ll get me a new boss-tu12 or checout some other real rack-tuners. And the BTR-2000 will be history.....

This seemed to work ok with electric guitar - if a little slow. The problem is that I'm a bass player. The reaction of the tuner was slow and jumpy on all strings with my 3 basses - including active EMG-fitted fender, Musicman Stingray and standard passive FenderJazz. Worst problem was that it did not tune the bottom E on any of them - at times, the E string produced no effect at all.

Ordered one of these. It arrived, hooked it up. Got a horrid high pitched whine from it, which also presented itself on my friends amp that I tested it on to be sure.
Returned it and got another to replace it. Did the exact same thing.
The guy at the place where I got it was apologetic and mentioned that really, it's budget equipment and he had wondered if it 'was' even faulty when I returned the first one.
Got a refund on it, and have ordered a Korg rack tuner, which I should've done originally. (And I reccomend anyone reading this does too).
For the brief time I tested both units, the tracking was piss poor on the low E on both my guitars (As much as a 4 sec delay before it registered), and one of the guitars has high-output pickups.
It tracked all the other strings quickly but the light was all over the place like a drunk driver.

Of course, this is a tuner rather than an effect per se. It is very easy to set up and use. There's really not much to know about it and the manual is comprehensive and clear. The buttons are all illuminated in red which makes them easy to see on stage and looks cool too. The rack lights underneath are useful.
The big downside is that is a terrible tuner! I use it with bass so I don't know if it is better with a guitar but it is just rubbish. The tuning lights just bounce around all over the place and it seems to need a huge signal to work at all. It only really works for the first second or two after plucking the string. There is no comparison at all between this and say the Boss TU-2 (which just gets on with the job).

You get what you pay for. A TU-2 is twice the price and a Korg rack tuner about 4 times the price. The difference is that they work properly and the Behringer doesn't. A tuner is one of those things that just has to work - usually when you just don't have time to muck around.
The BTR2000 just doesn't cut it. If you want a tuner for stage use, you are going to have to spend more - sorry :-(
