Very difficult to get a good sound out of it, although I wouldn't say it's difficult to use. Like a first generation Volkswagen Golf, it's not that difficult to drive, but it feels/sounds like ****.

Noisy, yes.

Sound Quality : 3
Noisy, yes

Weak effects, some grain, but more noticeably some distortion, not smooth at all.

It's ******* rough sounding generally.

behringer...

They are ******* **** - they do produce some useful units, not this one though, and those that are OK, I'm keeping my mouth shut, because I ******* hate the company for what they represent.

Overall Rating : 1
Don't buy it, for techincal as well as ethical reasons. They are *****, and deserve to go under. Support quality products DESIGNED and made by genuinely creative outfits, which these ******* are undermining with every product they launch.

I'm comparing this to a TC m300, Sony R7 and Lexicon LXP-1. This thing just sounds plain aweful. This thing hisses like a BBQ on every preset, compared to the above mentioned units, which are much quieter (and R7s are supposed to be a bit noisy - not so compared with a Behringer 1024P.

The effects themselves, while varied, bear no resemblance to the real thing. They simply aren't complex in character at all, rather like first generation reverbs from the early '80s. Editing is basic with little scope for twaeking at any level that can salvage the sound.

Behringer are *********, we all know that.

Overall Rating : 1
Spend a bit more money and break over to the next level and avoid this kind of shite. You're better off getting a used old Alesis or something. Or save for a TC 300m (sound great for the price). My biggest issue is the noise this thing generates - it will build up in your mixes, as will the muddy effects you'd be adding to your tracks.

I'm a Behringer hater for several good reasons. Not only are they plagiarizing shite hawks, they also produce cheap ass crap, of which this is an excellent example.

Pretty easy to use once you know which knob to twist. It helps to laminate the cheat sheet and keep it handy but you can muddle through without it if you need to.

Sound Quality : 8
The revs and delays can be a little grainy, the distortion isn't all that good but the overall sound is pretty good especially when the price is taken into consideration. The plate reverbs sound great. The presets are useful once you tweak them a bit (they are way too wet and long).

Reliability : 9
Never had a problem with it and I've taken it into some really crappy, cold and dirty semi-outdoor gigs without issue.

Customer Support : 3
I've only dealt with them on a warranty registration issue, but they sucked at that. Very slow answers and turnaround.

Overall Rating : 7
Good bang for the buck especially at the current $99 price point. It's no lexicon but a good value.

The presets are realy usable! (100 user presets). for programming you definitly need the little cheat cards supplied with the unit - if you are using this, it is a very short and easy way to your own (good sounding) Patches...

The Manual ist - as usual for Behringer - helpfull

Because of the cheat card (for the first times...) only 8 Points...

This gear was the follower of the virtualizer DSP 1000. It comes with a 24Bit AD/DA converters, some revisted Algorithm for Reverb (as i remember...), and two independent Soundengines for left and right chanel.
This Engine is very quite, and the FX - especially Reverb and Delay are impressive - sounding good.
The Vocal - Distortion is not my Taste, but i like the Rotary Speaker Simulation!
In adition you also have tha usual Modulation FX (Pitch/Flanger/Chorus) wich are all usable.

Its also posible to make good sounding Effekt-Combinations (like Flanger and Reverb)our Dual-mode effects (Flanger on left; Reverb on the right side).

the 1024 sounds better than DSP1000 (of course), but also better than some more expensive Gears from Korg, Alesis or Roland.
I use it for recording together with my Keyboards and for the Voice
If your are take a look to a cheap, goodsounding Gear expecially for Reverb - and dela

There is some challenge to learning to use the multifunction buttons. Also, digital/numeric adjustment rather than dials.

Sound Quality : 7
The reverbs are nice, not stellar but reasonable for the $. The chorus is confusing, to be kind. I want to believe that when tweaked correctly, it can sound good, but I am still searching. I like the delays and echo features.

Reliability : 9
I have the impression that the unit is well built. I have not had any mechanical difficulty with it. Behringer is clever. They seem to use a similar case and buttons for multiple different units in their product line.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not required their support.

I am confused about this unit. In the quality of its workmanship, features and apparent components, it is a very good buy (as are many Behringer products). I am still however confused about the quality of the effects. Are they ok, or do I need to search out the magic adjustment, or are they the weakest side to this product. I cannot figure it out. I think that overall, it is a decent unit for any beginner or novice on a low budget.

Out of the box, the factory presets are verry useable. Programing is fairly simple as long as you have the handy cheat cards supplied with the unit. The manual is detailed just enough to keep ya on your toes, but not neccessary once you've run through a few programing exercises on your own.

Sound Quality : 9
The use of this unit is primarily for vocals. I'm runnin the mic into a pre-amp, and then directly into the unit and then to the board. The unit is very quiet and solid. The reverbs are awesome, and most of the other effects are of high quality. the Vocoder is the weakest effect on the unit, and why it was even engineered into it is beyond me. A totaly worthless function. They could have put a little bit more into the chorus effects also.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's a brand new unit as of 10/25/01. No problems at all.

Mostly play rock, blues, rockabilly stuff. Have been playing guitar for over 25 years, and performing vocals for 5 years now. If lost or stolen I would definitely replace it. I'm considering buying a second unit for combining the two effects together. For a piece of quality studio equipment, the price is unbeatable. It comes highly recommended from this user.
