Ease of Use : 10
The Dualfex Pro is very easy to use. Only 4 knobs per channel to tweak. How much more do you need? But it does produce excellent sound for what it's being used for. Wiring it up was pretty simple. However, unfortunately it's in an unbalanced configuration (with only TRS, TS, and RCA - no XLR). I'll have to make balanced cables from scratch for a balanced set up. The manual is very easy to understand, although it's more of a tutorial on the physics of sound. However, the actual instructions are basic, assuming you already have a clue about audio. I'm not sure there is a firmware #, and as far as I can tell the unit has no upgradable architecture.

Sound Quality : 10
The Dualfex Pro I have is being used as a sound reinforcement device.
It's purpose primarily is for enhancing TV/VCR/DVD audio. The set up is as follows; 1. Cable coax to VCR cable in.
2. DVD audio out (L/R) to VCR audio in (L/R).
3. VCR audio out (L/R) to DBX 1215 EQ/15 band, unbal
audio in TS (L/R).
4. EQ out TS (L/R) to Dualfex Pro audio in TS (L/R).
5. Dualfex Pro audio out TS (L/R) to Yamaha receiver
video aux in RCA (L/R) unbal.
Even though the entire chain is unbalanced, there is no noise of any kind, or degradation of sound quality even with 16ft of RCA audio cable from the VCR out. The EQ is conservetively set to compliment the TV/cable audio (since it is already processed anyway). The Dualfex Pro follows the EQ to smooth out any inconsistancies from the EQ that may arise from channel changes, because each station has their own signature sound, just like radio. Controls on the Dualfex are set from minimum to medium so not to exaggerate the EQ. The bass mode is set to "soft". Bass process is set to 10:00. Tune is set at about 1.5 kHZ (cut off). The multiband process control is set for enhance, at about 9:00. High mix is adjusted at 11:00. The surround processor is set at a factor of one, as to compliment the Trusurround feature of my DVD player. For playing/watching DVDs, it's awesome!!
Since I don't have a surround theatre system, I only have a pair of floor model Infinity speakers, this works very, very well!!. No complaints at all. I would run it up against anyones several hundred dollar surround system any day.
Mainly, it sounds natural, and real. Not synthetic or artificial.
I've heard other peoples video sound systems, and so wanted to tell them they really needed to have their ears tested - and to, BACK OFF ON THAT GODD*MN SUBWOOFER!!!!!!!!

Reliability : 10
Most certainly! I've had it almost a year, and no problems yet. I just set it and forget it. Sometimes I forget it's even working, it's that transparent. As far as a gig goes, I would buy a seperate unit for that, so I wouldn't have to remove it from the chain. I've yet to hear how it sounds by itself. Overall, very reliable and sturdy, producing a solid and rich sound.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not had to call customer support. But I have emailed them with other questions about other products, and have not heard back from them.

I'm not a musician, but greatly enjoy listening to music. As someone who is and has been in broadcasting for many years, I have other sound processors/compressors (4) to enhance what I listen to in the style of FM audio processing. And for recording mix CDs to reduce the signal to peak ratio to keep the levels as consistent and even as possible. If my Dualfex were stolen, I would replace it right away.
It was cheap to buy. Since it is a line level device, I still wish it had LED meters just so I could see where it is at, signal wise. That's my only complaint. My next purchase will be the Ultrafex Pro. This I will use as a pre-emphasis device for my main audio chain.

Anyone coudl use this - even those new to recording - once you find what you liek from it, you only need twiddle with 2 knobs, the Bass control and teh high end. I use this purely for vocals and String/synth pads. I wouldn't recommend it for Mix Processing.

Sound Quality : 10
My Rack consists of some decent gear including a Korg Triton and Focusrite Mixmaster with Digital board. However this is my favourite piece of kit because for value for money it can't be beaten. It greatly enhances vocals, providing real cut-through within the mix. The Aphex Excitor is probably just as good but costs #249 next to the #45 price tag on the Duelfex, in the UK.

Rock Solid.

I would recommend this for vocals mainly but also for strings, organs and pads. It's superb for the money, and has transformed my vocals into 100% pro sounding studio vocals. Do not use on the Mix - it will improve separation but at the expense of noise. However you will not have this problem on single/stereo track processing.

This is very easy to use. A quick look at the manual will explain everything, otherwise just play with the knobs for a few minutes until you find the sound that you're looking for.

Sound Quality : 8
The sound quality is excellent. In fact, I will never do a mixdown or record without one now. As you use the effects the differences can be very subtle, however, turn it off for a second and you hear how much it improves and widens your sound.

I purchased mine used for about $60. I haven't had it long but it looks sturdy. As long as you don't go dribbling it down your driveway it should last.

I haven't used them.

I mainly use it between my computer and monitors and mixdowns. It is a great tool and for the money it can't be beat. It will make a big difference in fattening your bass lines and widening the spectrum of your sound. Vocals are made clearer and the overall mix is really improved. Pretty good job for such a cheap product. I am having the Behringer T1954 Tube Ultrafex Multiband Enhancer delivered any day now. I figure if this product is good, the T1954 should blow me away.

It is stupid easy to use.

No Noise at all. They say The shortest distance is a straight line.
Think in the way of Professional Mastering Engineers. The less loops
you have in the recording path the cleaner this gear is. It is ultra
efficient.

Reliability : 10
I can depend on it very much and I would not gig without it no way.
Even though use it as a mastering tool.

I am an R and B producer to the heart.
If is was stolen I would call the FBI and see if
they can trace the silver monster.

Very simple unit. Front panel controls explain everything, really didn't need manual, although it is written well. Rear connections give you both RCA and 1/4" which can be mixed (i.e.1/4" in,RCA out) which is really nice

Sound Quality : 9
I bought to mainly use with bass, but found it to be a bit overwhelming. I use for recording, and keyboards, and sometimes guitar. Will be buying electronic drumkit, can't wait to use it with that. Try it with your stereo, it's pretty amazing-I heard things in "Let It Be" that I didn't know were there. A little noisy, but it's to be expected. For a hundred bucks, what do yau want?

Reliability : 10
Seems to be solid-Mine's in a road case, so I don't worry about it.

Havn't had to call

This works well for many things. It's inexpensive, and just plain good to have around. I also have a small Behringer mixer, and have had great luck with that. I would definatly buy more Behringer Products, best deal for the money. Only thing I dont like is the silver on the front panel, but I didn't buy it to look at it.
