Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive

Pretty easy to get some good sounds out of the pedal. Tone, Drive, and Volume knobs are standard for this type of stomp box. The manual doesn't really give you much that you couldn't figure out on your own.

I'm playing a 2001 American Standard Strat into a Fender Blues Jr amp, and I have no problem getting that sweet SRV tone that the Tubescreamer-type pedals are famous for. Granted, no single pedal can get you that sound, you have to tweak your amp settings as well. I wouldn't say that this is the greatest pedal I've played for rhythm parts, but it adds a layer of creamy smoothness that I really like for leads, no matter where the Drive is set to. Not bad as a clean boost either. I really like the fact that more drive does not equal more volume, which is rare in a pedal.

It seems to be pretty durable, although I don't jump on my equipment. If it's not abused, it should last a long time. I gig with it twice a week without a backup, and it does me just fine. Not too thrilled with the plastic housing and the knobs seem a bit flimsy, but for the money what do you expect? It's still a great pedal.

Haven't had to deal with them, and I hope that I don't have to.

I play more blues-type music at the house, and I play a few times a week at church, so I need a pretty versatile sound. This pedal is pretty much a one-trick pony, but it does that trick pretty well. I don't like to keep too many effects in my chain, but this one will probably stay. This is one of the few pedals I've played that actually makes me want to keep playing.

3 knobs. If you don't understand it this review won't help you!

I play a gretsch corvette through a peavey classic with the boost button always on. I also use a vintage mxr distortion + and a LS fuzzy wuzzy. I really like this pedal alot! It's the the first in my chain of pedals. I use it to basically boot my signal. I set of about 9 o'clock and the tone at 12. It warms things up alot. It gives me a bit of a treble boost going into my fuzz pedals, wich can get a bit muddy of you're not careful. I play mostly 60s garage and pedal stays on at all times. The pedal really brings this sweetness to the high end. I have only on complaint with it. When the battery gets low it can do some strange things. My volume will rise and fall at random. Keep a fresh battery in it for gigs or use a power adapter! All and all you won't find a better pedal for the money, not even used.

The housing is a bit questionable. And the battery thing.

Over all it's a little gem that I will never regret buying. I'd buy another one.

It's actually very easy to use this pedal. There are only three knobs, Drive, Tone and Level, so it's not very hard to adjust the pedal to suit your needs. The only thing I wished this pedal had was an equaliser, but at this price, it's probably the best you're going to get. I'll give it a 9 though, because of the fact that it took me some time to figure out how to put in the 9V battery.

I've been using it with a Fender Mexican Stratocaster and a variety of amplifiers, Fender, Bahringer, etc. It actually sounds surprisingly good. Even when you put your Drive knob to the max, it dosn't make that annoying noise some pedals seem to make. I prefer having my tone knob set to about 2 o'clock, using the bridge pickup and it sounds great.

Until now, I've been using it in gigs without backup, and I don't think you actually need back up tor this pedal. The only downside is the plastic casing, which is probably a little less reliable than a metal one, but then again, I don't usually jump up and down on my pedals for them to break and I think you don't eather :-)

I've never dealt with them, but I heard that if something goes wrong you can even repair it yourself with minimal knowlege in electronics. Pretty simple little pedal I guess...

I play everything, from pop to rock and from punk to metal, and this pedal helps a lot. It gives you the boost and drive you need to make those choruses sound perfect and it adds an incredible kick to a solo for example. I'd deffinately buy this again if I needed to, the price is absolutely great. I trust it enough to go to a gig without backup, and it provides the sound you want, with a twist of a knob. Or three :-)

three knobs, on/off switch you dont have be a rocket scientist to use it. the led w/ battcheck is not too bright and not too dark.
there is a manual (english,german,french,chinese) if you need it.
replacing the battery is a little bit more tricky but thats ok.

ibanez sas32wh (mahogany superstrat w/ splittable humbuckers) through klotz cables through a line6 flextone iii xl (140W modelling amp w/ 2x12 celestion) using the soldano slo100 and marshall jcm 800 amp-models.

ok the most immportant thing: the sound. thats not very difficult to explain. i compared it several times with a lot of other overdrives espacially different tubescreamers (i was wondering if such a cheap pedal really could sound as the boutique stuff) and have to say it sounds exactly like a ts808. sustain, dynamics everything like the ts808 (which costs about 250???/300$?). even the differences in the sound when the battery runs low, are nearly the same.
but the tone knob seems to have a little bit bigger range than the original.
thats it: nice warm overdrive tone for almost every kind of genre.
perfect for boosting while solos.

i'm playing heavy bluesy rock (some stuff like old danzig) since 8 years and mostly i used a ibanez ts9 til it breaks one day (beer and electronic-equipment dont like each other i think :) ).
well i was looking for a new one, and found this awesome ts-clone for the amazing cheap price of 49???.
it convinced me about the sound quality and design of behringer stompboxes, so i bought afterwards some other pedals.

the sound of the tubescreamer is legendary and in my opinion the most versatile overdrive-effect. and although its an old vintage well-known sound, it keeps inspiring and thats the most important thing for me. if you arent a snob who needs a fancy shiny boutique stomp box on his pedalboard, and listen to music with your ears and not with tour eyes (although i think the behringer models arent look that bad as many people say) the to800 is a must have. - an affordable must have.

Really easy. As said: three knobs and an on/off switch. Clear as hell.

I've been using it for three or four years and it still sounds quite well.
The sound is quite nice(I put the tone knob completely at low, drive mostly at full and the level knob around '7 past'. At that settings, it gives al little more a middle-boost (as I like it; trying to be may-like) Just not to sharp.

A very straightforward stompbox. 3 knobs for level, tone and drive which are self-explanitory. I find that the drive knob mainly increases sustain, but rolling back your guitar's volume makes the pedal turn into a nice clean tone with a bit of bite which responds well to playing dynamics.

I'm very impressed by this pedal at the price - it sounds amazing! I was going to get a TS9 before I discovered this and I'm glad I didn't waste ??80 doing so. I've never used a tubescreamer but this provides an extremely satisfying creamy SRV overdrive and I can't imagine a real tubescreamer being worth the money for the possible slight improvement in tone. The pedal is pretty quiet, but has a little bit of hum which is to be expected and is by no means an issue. The sound is quite warm so i tend to run it with the tone knob on about 2 or 3 o'clock.

True, it is made of plastic, but it's still pretty tough and I've had no problems with it. The battery lasts for ages and always seems to work (unlike some boss pedals). I think I would use it on a gig without backup, although at this price buying an extra would still work out much cheaper than buying a single pedal of similar quality elsewhere.

I play all sorts of styles of music, but this is mostly suited to texas blues and, to a lesser extent, classic rock. It also provides a good hendrixey clean tone with the guitar's volume rolled back as well as maybe a bit of jazz. I've been playing guitar for about 9 years and I play a Fender standard strat and an Ibanez s series into a marshall solid state combo. If the pedal was stolen or lost, I wouldn't hesitate in immediately replacing it, it is the cheapest but best sounding pedal I have ever used! Before I bought it I had a marshall Guv'nor plus for a bit but it really didn't come close to the sound of this pedal and it went on ebay shortly after getting it. The only thing I think is missing is the metal construction, mainly as plastic looks a bit tacky though.
Overall, it's amazing value for money and for the sound you get from it you should be paying 3 times the price!

In this case it is a bit different as for $25.00 it works and works fairly well.
Easy as He## to use and if aplied in small doses fits the bill.

OK let's get to the stuff. This pedal works for what it is and it is not much to see inside this thing, ABS Plastic housing with a heavy steel plate to make it feel important as with out it it has no weight!!
Inside is amazing I mean how this thing produces such sound. The surface mounted stuff is maybe a total of 10 to 15 parts including the 3 Pots and switch.
It seems to be quiet and produces that TS sound but a bit lacking in the bottom end and somewhat bright, placing this in front of a Boss EQ-7 makes this thing come alive and useful, putting it in front a Good Fuzz Face you can pinch harmonic any place on your finger board with ease.
For $25.00 it is a bargan this thing works best with Single coils get that Texas Tone.

ABS Plastic is tough you would need a sledge hammer to break it but the battery compartment design is total S**t what is the matter with them?
Doo the BOSS thing and put a damn screw on the back edge.

Been playing over 30 years many years on the road and studio now I have a daytime jog I???m doing alright!!
It is amazing how they are building stuff cheaper and getting away with it and still sounding fairly good?
I still have a TS-808 looks like pooh but still comes on and go's off when I step on it, now that???s built to last this thing is $25.00 but hey Arion pedals are plastic and I have some that are still ticking with no issues but then they have good analog parts inside that you can work on.
For what it cost it is worth the low dollars as long as you EQ it in the front end.

I play a Fender Strat MIM through this and it sounds good for the price, abit too gritty for me. Some people say its better than a Ibanez TS, its close but not as classy in sound.

C'mon..its an overdrive pedal. Level. Drive. Tone. If you can't figure that out..well..you've probably got more gigs than I do by playing cheesy covers and singing like Dave Matthews playing through your crappy modeling amp.

My only beef is the battery "door". You have to pop the hood with a pen or other desk drawer tool. I'm no engineer..but this is probably one of the most retarded ways to change a battery.

I play..primarily..junky imported teles (Korean and Mexican..all of you assholes spending $2500+ for Les Pauls..PRS's..etc..have your ******* heads examined) one stock one with a Guitar Fetish replacement hot rail style bridge pickup. Amps include an AC15CC..Fender Blues Deluxe (first run from the 90's)..Peavey Windsor with a 4x12 cab loaded with eminence speakers and an Epiphone Valve Jr. paired with a custom 2x10 cab (Truetone..by Ron Hebert in Lake Charles, LA..this guy is a GENIUS!). The TO800 rocks all of 'em without masking the holistic tone of the amp. Sounds best through the tweed style amps (Blues Deluxe and Valve Jr.)

I'm not big on Clapton or SRV or any of the white blues guys. If you dig that tone you can get. I'm an 60's Brit Invasion/indie pop-rock guy but am kind of all over the map stylistically from Pete Townshend and Keef to Paul Weller..Mike Campbell or even Robert Quine on occasion.

I had a couple of puke green Tube Screamers back in the day (80's)..both stolen by potheads and glue huffers. Frankly I was never WOWED by them like everyone else was/is. This thing sounds better than those EVER did in my opinion. Very warm. Very organic. With balls you need to carry around in a wheelbarrow.

I've been using an old Boss Turbo Overdrive (also an 80's vintage Rat and Boss DS-1 for nastier fuzz)for the past 10 years. This one might replace it.

Just out of the box. Seems ok. Plastic housing might be a little flimsy. Knobs felt a wee bit wobbly. I don't gig super hard so it should last me a while. If it crapped out at a show..I'd have a spare on my board anyway.

If it goes teats up..I'll shell out another $22. Hell..I might just go ahead and do it now.

Haven't had to deal with Behringer yet. Have some of their other gear (audio accessories). Pretty good quality for the money.

As previously noted..I do original indie pop/rock in the Replacements..REM..Elvis Costello..The Jam..Fountains of Wayne kind of vein. The few covers are typically 60's British Invasion (Who..Beatles..Stones..etc). You're always gonna need some boost. You're always gonna need some crunch. With the TO800..you got it without having to have your wife rip you a new one for blowing this month's tuition money. If I lost it (no one would steal it probably 'cause its sooooocheap looking)or it died..I'd replace it.

After plugging it in..I felt like a MAN again.

Please..if you're looking at a Tube Screamer or some ridiculously overpriced boutique OD pedal..do yourself a favor..save $100 or more and buy this pedal. Its beautifully utlitarian and does exactly what its supposed to do. Ignore my advice..and join the legions of tools who will pay too much for snob appeal equipment because you read somewhere that Steve Vai uses it and are still waiting for that BIG record deal because they ACTUALLY believe that the old record company model is alive and well.

Easy to use - drive, tone level. I use it with a one-spot power chain. Works fine, however, the pedal for some reason always reverts to the overdrive "ON" mode when the power is switched on. Not a problem-you just press the pedal if you don't want OD; just wierd.

This is one of the best, absolutely natural sounding overdrive pedals on the market - it's just hard to believe it costs so very little. I have been through so many OD's like the Fulltone OCD, MXR, Rocktron, Ibanez Tube Screamers, etc. The Behringer TO800 is completely natural sounding, dead quiet and does not color the sound of your amp or guitar. Unbelievable. I have used it for many months now at home and it continues to sound excellent with both tube and solid state amps and all my guitars; Gibsons, Fenders, whatever. I wouldn't recommend for metalheads, it's not made for that; you just consistently get natural sounding OD and/or light distortion.

I use it only at home, so that's my take on it - it's been reliable so far. I don't have an issue with the plastic case or anything else about it. It continues to work perfectly.

I have been playing 30 years and have been in some bands, but I play only at home now. I like blues, Allmans, Clapton, Doobies, etc. Even if this pedal didn't cost so little, this would be my primary OD pedal, it's just that good. It's amazing. Check out the demos on YOUTUBE to see how it sounds for yourself. It's the best kept natural sounding OD secret and bargain in the market, no question about it. I sold all my other OD pedals after using this one. It consistently does the job. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if this one ever breaks, but it feels solid, like it will last a long time.

It's really simple to use. The knobs are self explanatory.

I play this through a Fender MH-500 Metalhead (for now) and it gives a nice lead boost, and it helps the harmonics pop out. I also use this with my line 6 spider 3 when I practice in my room for the same reason. I think these things have a very useable tone.

I've never had a problem with this thing. People say they're wary of it because it's plastic and all, but it seems like it's more durable than it looks. I stomp this thing pretty hard at practice and shows and I've never had any issues with it.

I play heavy metal primarily in my band and this thing makes for a great amp pusher. It's a very simple pedal, just like the Ibanez Tubescreamer it's copying. If you want a cheap overdrive pedal that sounds pretty decent as a little boost, then I recommend the TO-800

Straight forward. I keep all my my Behringer OD/Dist pedal knobs set pretty close to 50%. If I need more or less drive I just select different pedals.

I just bought a slew of Behringer gear. 5 Pedals, V Amp Pro, and direct box's. The TO 100 and the TO 800 sound like twin brothers. All knobs set at 50% the TO 800 might have a bit more treble. However I just bump the tone on the TO 100 and they sound identical. These two pedals have nice light break up drive and distortion which is nice in some applications. For the price these Behringer pedals are good enough for a beginner to intermediate player. People complain about Behringer pedals coloring there sound in stand by mode. If my sound is being tainted in standby mode I can't tell. I'm playing a Hamer Artist USA and Fender Strat USA through 7 pedals into a Peavey Classic 100W tube head and it sounds decent to me.

Behringer has a web site with all there products. I think manuals are down loadable. However the manuals don't tell you anything the knobs don't already say.

The manual says it draws 30 mA. This and all my other pedals draw less than 6 mA each. Except my digital delay and it draws 75 mA. I'm using an external power supply on all my pedals. My pedals are Ibanez Compressor/Sus, Behringer BO 100 Blues Overdrive, Behringer TO 100 Tube Overdrive, Behringer TO 800 Vintage Tube Overdrive, Behringer OD 100 Overdrive Distortion, DOD FX 68 Chorus, Behringer DD 400 Digital Delay. Pedals are not rocket science. Most are a simple OP Amp operation. The only thing I don't like is the plastic housing and the Made in China sticker. If you can get over that, my Behringer pedal line is pretty decent!

Surprisingly the TO800 sounded really great directly out of the package! I've not used this pedal extensively but I was impressed enough to get off my lazy bum and make this review. The only reason I gave it a nine was, just like its more expensive rivals, seems to cut out the lower frequencies a bit.

Les Paul classic through TO800> holy grail reverb> marshall jcm800. I am very pleased with the vintage sounding overdrive from the lowest gain setting all the way to the highest...A+++ I love classic rock and for this price you CAN NOT beat it. No noticeable or outstanding noise. I don't aspire to recreate my favorite artists' tones but most of them were classic rock artists and this is a classic rock pedal for sure.

I'm hoping with gentle use this will last a while but I'm not expecting the durability of die-cast metal frame pedals. Cannot speak on reliabilty but the plastic casing is my ONLY fault here.

I've been playing about 11 years and own other high end pedals. The TO800, tonally, really gives them a run for their money. If this were lost or stolen I would definetly get another one. I love the price/sound quality factor! It is very comparable to the ts9 tubescreamer. I heard the TO800 on a youtube vid and it even sounded great there. I do wish it was in a metal casing with sturdier knobs but once again for the price I really have no complaints.

This is a very straight forward, 3-Knob situation and very easy to coax good tones from. No manual supplied but seriously if you need one you shouldn't be playing an instrument !

Sound quality is exactly as I would expect but was very surprised given how cheap it was. Just goes to show you can get quality at bargain prices ! Good job Behringer.This pedal compares most favorably to my (original)TS-9 which I now keep at home.It is quiet to operate and the other band members thought my tone had improved !
I am using the pedal through a Fender R12 solid state 100w combo. and it supplies that nice warm tone in buckets.

So far so good...but as everyone else has said...its so cheap, if I broke it, I would just go and buy another....(I might anyway).

I play in a covers band and the pedal supplies almost all my background sound with mods on top. Have been playing for 27 years semi-pro, and owned many types of tube distortion pedals and have ended up giving away or losing the others, except for the TS-9....BUT THIS ONE IS A KEEPER !
I saw the large Behringer stand in my local music store and couldn't believe the price so copped a chorus and was blown away by it, and now I find myself looking at the others goodies in the range. One small improvement would have been to install a larger LED.This pedal is a must in my aural arsenal.Can't wait to add more pedals yeehaw !

The product is pretty easy to use, plug it in, play, and the knobs are self-explanatory

I play this pedal through a Fender MH-500 metalhead w/matching angled cabinet, running a BBE sonic maximizer and a T.C. Electronics G-major through the effects loop. I bought this just to see what pushing the lead tones slightly would sound like. It's very warm on it's own, the distortion isn't scratchy, and it doesn't have that overly bassy sound like some pedals that just sound like a big wad of crappy distortion. It's not the greatest pedal in the world, but for low gain blues/classic rock or pushing your amp for a little more distortion it's pretty cool. Also helps bring out harmonics/"squeals" and sustain.

I can see this thing lasting for about a year or two, and my band plays about 2 shows a month or more. It's got an ABS plastic case, spraypainted, with some really weird hinges to open up and put the battery in. I didn't like the hinges and how difficult it was to put in the battery, but it's not a big deal

I play metal, similar to a mix of Iron Maiden, Opeth, Megadeth, Arch Enemy etc etc. So I like my lead tone to be warm, but cut through, and have just the slightest bit of high harmonics that give it that "scream" sort of sound. The TO-800 helps bring out some of those harmonics when I've used it as a boost to push my amp harder. It's also not bad as an overdrive on the clean channel. I think if you're looking for something to give your solos some more "bollox" or just a good lower drive, this pedal's pretty good for the price

It is pretty easy to get a good sound out of it, has 3 basic knobs in the order of DRIVE,TONE,LEVEL same with of the TS808.

First of all this is not noisy when used with a one spot power supply. I play it on a peavey studio pro 120 amp on the clean tone channel. My effect setup goes : compressor/TS9/TO800/chorus/reverb, very basic blues/classic rock setup. This is a clean natural smooth crunch overdrive,not too edgy. It is like having a slight touch of cleantone from behind. My favorite setup is Drive @9oclock/tone@1oclock/level@2oclock, this is the "almost breaking up" overdriven tone. Setting up the drive knob way past 9 oclock will start to kick ass. Adjusting the tone way above 1oclock will give you more lead mid-hump tone. This pod uses the famous 4558 tubescreamer op-amp chip and the ma150 distortion diode for that famous vintage tube overdrive sound.

I play classic rock/blues and contemporary music which the TO800 fits perfectly.I would describe it like a gremlin. Can be cute and cuddly when drive is set below 9oclock and can be a monster way past the threshold.

It's easy to use with three simple controls. The manual is a bit of waste of time as the pedal's controls are self-evident. Battery changing is a bit of a pain as others have noted. My main concern with this pedal is that it has no true bypass. When you turn the pedal off it is still influencing the clean sound of the amp unless you physically dial the 'level' control down to 0. This is a real weakness in my view unless you want overdrive all the time.

My current setup is guitar (Strat) into TO800 into Boss ME30 multi-effects unit into Behringer PB100 preamp booster (bought the PB100 because it was cheap) all feeding into my Bronx 112 tube amp. I play guitar in a classic rock covers band (Stones, Who, Creedence etc) also with some pop thrown in so I am basically looking for a nice overdriven sound with the ability to have a screaming solo every now and then. I bought this pedal to use with my Boss ME30 to give the guitar a 'kick' for soloing. I tend to have the pedal's gain low because I use the Boss overdrive as well. The TO800 is good for what I want it for. Has a warmer overdrive than the Boss unit and I actually prefer the Boss sound because it has more 'crunch' than the Behringer. But it depends what you want. I have found the TO800 will cause feedback if the gain is up too high. I am not a great fan of too much distortion (I can get that from my ME30 but don't use it). On its own I don't think the TO800 is really the goods but in combination with the ME30 it works well. The other guitarist in my band has a Tube Screamer and I envy his tone.

This works well with classic rock style music but as I said I like a bit more crunchy sound than I get from this pedal. OK for softer overdriven tones (such as Creedence) but if you want to rock the house I don't think this pedal has enough bite in it by itself. It improves if you add some compression to it. If you're looking for a real twangy sort of sound I don't this pedal is it as the sound is very warm. Being a bit of a cheapskate I like the price of Behringer's products, including this one. If stolen however I think I might be looking to go upmarket - maybe a Tube Screamer.
They could improve this pedal by having a proper bypass switch.

Three knobs: level, tone and drive, how easy can it be?

I am very pleasantly surprised with this pedal. Now, I don't have a Tube Screamer, so I can't compare the two, but this is a very nice overdrive pedal. I own two other overdrive pedals (Boss SD-1 and OD-3), and this one is not better or worse, just a different tonality.

I use it with a stratocaster with a humbucker at the bridge, so I get anything from clasic strat sounds to harder rock ones. The tone of this pedal is a bit on teh bright side, so I set the tone control quite low, at around 8-9 o'clock. With the drive at minimum there's a substantial crunch going on, especially with a humbucker. I wish that the minimum gain were a bit cleaner, like on teh Boss OD-3, but it's okay. This pedal doesn't have huge amounts of gain, so what you get is a very useful range between soft crunch and some serious overdrive without getting into metal territories... Nice classic rock & bluesy sounds. It retains the string definition while playing chords even at rather high overdrive levels... good job.
I like the sound a lot, and it's quiet. Nice.

Construction is not the highest point on this pedal. The plastic casing doesn't worry me, it's very substantial, but the hinges do worry me especially as you need to mess with them everytime you put a new battery in. I use it with an adaptor, so it will probably last a lot longer this way. Still... this is a very nice sounding overdrive pedal, if it breaks I'd just buy another (so cheap) or alternatively it wouldn't take much effort to transplant the circuitry to another pedal box, which can be had cheaply.
I give it a 6 not due to any problems I hav had, but because I don't trust it entirely.

I have been playing for over 15 years. This is a great sounding warm overdrive pedal at a very low price. Hard to beat. I'd still like it if it cost 2-3x as much (but then I'd want a better built box)

It lacks volume and tone....so buy the original Ibanez or a Boss.
I believe Behringer has the exact same circuitry in every overdrive/distortion pedal that they manufacture.
They just use different external housings and names to fool everyone.
There's no way that this tube pedal could ever be compared to an actual TS808.

I play blues rock like SRV, Clapton and Hendrix.
I've been playing for 40 years.
I mainly run an American Strat through an Epiphone tube amp.
Of course I would never buy another one if broken or stolen.
I also own a Behringer compressor pedal which is okay.

Too easy to use. Only three knobs: drive, tone and level.

I just plugged my cheap les paul copy in this pedal and plug it on my Peavey Bandit amp. Great sound for blues and classic rock. The sound of the 60's and 70's. Rich and deep. A great pedal for who don't have money to buy a good valve amplifier and use its overdrive. Very very close to the Ibanez Tube Screamer 808, that costs so much money. I think the pedal could has a bit more punch, but Ibanez TS doesn't has too.

The plastic chassis doesn't look so strong, but I think it's strong enough to use at home (except you have the weight of an elephant). If you don't abuse it, the pedal doesn't will broke, I guess. The knobs looks fragile and the jacks are made of plastic, so I cannot give a better note for reliability. I hope don't have problems with the pedal in the future, 'cause it has a very good sound.

For a blues or classic rock sound, it's so good, with an incredible price. The same sound of the expensive Ibanez Tube Screamer, but costs a few bucks. Great price and great tone even. If it were stolen, I would buy another as soon as possible. A bargain.

Three knobs - Drive - Tone - Level - IMHO very easy to use

As a DIY Amp Tech I modded the preamp stage of my typical 60s Fender channel. I added a 12AX7 tube to be driven by the first two stages. (like a Fender Champ II - Rivera series). If you ever heard this driven tube sound (it's incredible dynamic even at living room at 10 pm volume settings) you know what to expect. This is exactly the same sound. I just couldn't believe my ears but the TO800 is as warm and responseful to the players attack like the tube amp. Got its name "Tube Overdrive" with justification. It wouldn't change the guitars overall sound. Tone control is very effective. Don't know if it sounds like its paragon (TS808) but it sure sounds amazing.

It's made to step on it. Should be reliable at least for this. Didn't have a look at the battery compartment cause I use it with power supply unit.

I play blues and R&B with a 62 RI Strat through several selfmade amps with Blackface or british channels. Sometimes modded as I mentioned above. I bought the TO800 to keep the clean channel at low settings and crunch it up with this pedal for some SRV stuff. The british channel gets more sustain when used with it. Great improvement.

I play blues and blues rock for 25 years. (Albert King, SRV, Otis Rush, Freddie King) I wanted a TS9 clone without breaking the bank, and I could not be happier! This pedal is awsome for the money! when I heard it all I could say was wow! It is by and far one of the best overdrives I have used. It gives you the subtle tube breakup and a very "warm" tone without compromising the original tone of your guitar. I play this through a Peavey Delta Blues, I use a Fender 50, and 60's RI strat, and a Gibson ES335. Compared to other overdrives on the market, You could buy 2 of these and still have lunch money leftover. Great Job Behringer! Know this, tone is a very subjective matter. What sounds good to me may sound like crap to you! Try something before you buy it and use what sounds good to you. Don't fall prey to the maketing hype. Just because a pro endorses a certain product does not mean it's the right one for you. Let your ear be the judge!

Well after being in the market for a decent overdriver I did a bit of research on the net and here and at Harmony central.Budget not really a problem,my options were quite open.I got my hands on a Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdriver with no expectations.$48AUD I could use it as a door stop if it was no good.How wrong was I!Plugged it in and there was no noise,cranked up the overdrive and still no noticable noise.Matched the effect tone to the clean sound and let her rip!I was overwhelmed.Behringer is supposed to be cheap and nasty but this thing is just great!NO noise YES!No noise!I thought this has to be bullshit at $48AUD.I'm blown away!Finally someone is making good effects to rival the big boys at a fraction of the price.

I use a couple of custom class A valve amps for my stage set up,so I am not going to compromise my sound to save a few bucks.I play Supro's,National,Fender lap steels and a Strat through my set up.TheTO008 is compatable with them all.Just bringing in the TO008 for that extra edge when needed.

I love it.If it were lost or stolen i would buy another one straight away.For$48AUD i could carry a couple of spares.I know Behringer have had it's fair share of quality control issues so I would try it out before I would buy.I heard a few ordainary tube screamers and blues drivers,but have also heard and used some beauties.

3 Knobs. Gain Tone and Volume. Starying with all controlls at 12:00 is a decent setting. You wont have a big jump in volume when you kick it on. Fine tweak to match your amp

I had a TS back in the 70s to 80s and gave it away because I was board with the sound. I like this one better because it does have a tiny bit of clean coming through which nearly eliminates the oscilations that can occur when youre not in perfect tune. It also has the right FQ responce to match just about any guitar Gets great Harmonics. I own a ton of effects and like the sound when I run this earley in the chain after compression and run it into other overdrive units. It makes a Marshall Governor sound real good. Its extremely quiet, and works well with alot of types of music.

Mine came with the knobs a littel to easy to turn. U found some rubber washers to put over the knobs that are great. Once I have my setting I leave them alone, just on and off. They keep the settings where I set them. All pedals should have a lock knob feature. I have no problems with any of their stuff. If I did break it during a gig I have 4 or more other types of drive on my board so it would only be an inconvience.

I've been playing 40 years this week. Dam has it been that long. I'm also an electronic tech. I love variety and this one fits that nitch I needed. No one pedal will do the job when youre playing live or recording. This ones better than most especially for the price.
